Chapter 6 Non Playable Character

"Eri's heard it said that monster meat tastes better than chicken!" Eri showed her innocent smile with an innocent look after saying that.

"Who said such a thing?" Mike looked at Eri in confusion. Just this time he saw a little boy who felt strange to him. The first new monster appeared. There was no way anyone else would have known about monsters earlier.

"The doctor told me!"

"Doctor?!" Mike scrunched his forehead. He had thought that maybe this child was listening to an absurd story while he was going to see a doctor. But Mike was amazed by the doctors who told him strange things about children his age.

"Yes! Doctor Fezusm said that monsters have a more tender and delicious meat texture. The doctor also said monster meat has a lot of nutrients."

"Ah, is that it? But I-dad doesn't have monster meat. Eri ate the other one, huh?"

"Eri wants monster meat! You beat a lot of green monsters, right? Eri wants one!" Eri puffed both of her cheeks, making her round eyes slightly narrowed.

Mike turned his gaze staring in the other direction. She realized that Eri was a cute little girl. If a girl like this is calling him dad, Mike doesn't mind one bit.

"Eri, the doctor is lying. Monster meat doesn't taste good at all." Mike's face turned sour when he imagined someone eating monster meat. From the fight just now he already knew that the monster's meat looked bad at all.

"That's because I'm not used to it. If we want to survive, the doctor says we have to eat monster meat!" Eri slightly snapped. His face was red with anger.

Mike was stunned to hear what Eri said. Once the main game has started, there will probably be no food store still in operation. The state of the earth would really be chaotic at that time. So there would be no other choice but to eat monster meat.

Given what Eri said is very reasonable, Mike's curiosity to the doctor added peaked. Who is the doctor Eri meant? Is he a Game Master or is he a person who can read the future? But it could also be that the person came from the future and went back to the past.

"NPCS?" Mike is startled by a sudden system notification. He looked back at Eri. It never crossed his mind that the little girl he was with right now was an NPC created by the system.

If so, then the doctor he told me about is not real. Eri's memory could have been just a programmed scenario. But he doesn't look like a system character. He has a life and emotions like a human being in general.

"For a system that can control life, of course, it will not be difficult to make a character that looks really alive." Mike crouched down, trying to keep his head level with Eri. He stroked Eri's head softly while smiling.

"I think Dad's calling is too formal. From now on call me papa, yes!"

Eri nodded slowly in response yes. His face was fresh. Seeing Eri's expression made Mike even more unwilling to accept the fact that Eri was not the same creature as himself.

"Good boy." Mike left Eri at maximum speed. If anyone else was looking, maybe they'd think Mike was a jogger when he saw his speed.

Mike slowed down his speed when he was almost in the alley he had entered. He hid behind a wall while peering into an alley. There was nothing there other than the carcass of the goblin he had defeated. The fat goblin was gone too.

"Alright, this is my chance." Mike tried to get close to the sprawled goblin's body without making the slightest sound. He was worried that he would invite the monster again. His hand quickly picked up a few goblins, then ran at full speed as he wished to return.

Finally Mike can breathe more freely when he managed to get out of the dark alley without light. From a distance Mike saw Eri who was standing while staring at him.

"Papa!!" Eri waved both hands. He was so happy to see Mike carrying a monster in both hands.

"Welcome, Papa!" Excited Eri who welcomed Mike's arrival with a happy face. Mike dropped the goblin body he was carrying, staring at the lifeless body with a serious look.

"So, how are we gonna cook it?"

Mike just remembered that he couldn't cook other than instant noodles. During this time he always bought food at low prices at a store near his home. Sometimes there are also those who provide leftover food at night.

"Why can't you cook?" Eri tilted his head while biting his thumb. Mike was embarrassed to admit it, but he also couldn't say that he could cook or that his cooking would be the worst dish Eri had ever tasted. If Mike knew it would be like this, he would have learned to cook even if it was just simple cooking.

"Sorry, Eri. I am a lousy papa. I can't even cook a simple meal." Mike lowered his face. Maybe he's the only person who can't cook at his age.

"Papa sit down! Let Eri cook for papa! Eri will do his best to give a gift for saving Eri earlier." Eri grinned, revealing a row of her tiny milk teeth.
