The Doomsday System

The Doomsday System
Chapter 17 Creating a Party, Completing a Quest

Mike was stunned for a moment to hear Martha's words. He walked closer to the three bodies of other players who were already lifeless. At first Mike felt no problem because he thought he could resurrect them. Mike placed both of his hands on one of the players, focusing on using the awakening skill.

SKILL FAILED TO USE

THE SKILL CAN ONLY BE USED TO GENERATE 15 TARGETS IN A DAY. YOU HAVE REACHED THE LIMIT OF USING THE SKILL TODAY.

Mike was stunned to see the system notification. Though the system did not explain there was a limit to how many times he could awaken when he received the skill. Again, he felt he was being played by the system. Even so, is not actually a player there indeed to play?

"Damn! Why should it be now?" Mike was upset. If only the system had said so from the start, it would have definitely thrown away its three weakest troops.

"Didn't it work?" Martha asked in a slightly trembling voice. He had the same expectations as Mike, but those expectations could not be realized.

"Sorry, it's all my fault."

"Stop blaming yourself. You could have let us die, but why did you choose to protect us? We did something disrespectful to you." Geoff limped closer to Mike, patting his back to encourage him.

Now he knew very well that the self he was proud of was far from strong. Though a moment ago he still puffed his chest at his strength, but now he had already seen such a far abyss for him to cross.

"Here it is, we better bury them. There was no point in continuing to ponder with such regret. They won't come back." Martha patted Mike slowly on the shoulder, hoping it could help her a little.

He had no idea what Mike was going through before meeting him, but one thing the girl realized upon seeing this incident. He could feel a deep sadness not on the three people in front of him, but on himself. It's not like this was his first failure.

"Well, you're right. Let's bury them. Give me a proper funeral." Mike stood up from his starting position. He started to worry about forming a party. Somehow Mike felt that people nearby would be in danger.

The system seems to have been designed to bring up dimension break with monster levels that are much stronger than him. Even before meeting Mike, they still look healthy and fine. But the immediate disaster came when Mike only stayed for a little while.

"A "very big reward. But what good would it be if there were three lives to be sacrificed? And also wasn't there just no notification from the system regarding the quest? What does this mean?" Mike grunted softly. Now he and the other players are focusing on the funeral process. It is not a proper funeral if only the present situation is still the same as a few weeks before.

After doing the funeral, they gathered at the scene of the dimension break. They wait for the night to eat. No conversation, quiet. An awkward atmosphere was floating in their midst, making none of them dare to open the topic.

After this incident, Gried automatically joins Mike into a party. With Gried joining, Mike's party members were just one person short. There was currently only Geoff as a player left, so there was no other choice but to recruit him into the group. Geoff also had no choice and decided to offer to join. He already knew how strong the person before him was. There was no chance he would live if not with this person.

"alright. I'm still lacking one more person to join anyway." Mike immediately accepted Geoff without considering anything else, rather there was nothing he had to consider.

SAMURAI SKILL LV.3 -> LV.5

"It's getting dark today, I'm going to prepare dinner." Mike stood up, walking towards the carcass of a monster not far from him.

"Ah, let me help!" Martha followed Mike from behind.

"I'll help too!" Gried stood up in the starting position, going for a small tailing run at the two seniors in front of him.

If you can be honest, actually for now Mike does not want to be bothered by anyone. He wants to prepare dinner alone, but Mike doesn't want to kick them out either.

The best chef skills make Mike no longer have to worry about food. He can make any food into a very tasty processed. Thanks to this, Mike always remembered Eri. However, there was nothing he could do to something that had already passed.

Dinner was accompanied by a cold wind and the warmth of the campfire in front of them. There was nothing they could do for the next few days. They decided to help rebuild the city of Tyghu. There's not much they can do to help, but at least it's better than sitting pensively with a lot of thoughts.

For a while everything went well and was fine. No dimension break occurred after the last time. Mike thinks for now he'll feel peaceful, but it's not like that. Without Mike knowing, people from his past will come. Those who put deep trauma and pain on Mike, will soon meet again in a reunion that does not want to happen.

YOU GET THE CHANCE TO MEET WITH ADMINISTRATORS.

DO YOU WANT TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY?

[YES] [NO]

Mike looked at the system screen closely. It had been a long time since he wanted to meet with the game admin, but now he actually got it. A chance he never expected. Mike pressed the yes column on the screen.

[QUEST UPDATED]

YOU NEED A BRONZE KEY TO MEET WITH THE ADMINISTRATOR.

A BRONZE KEY COULD BE OBTAINED IF IT KILLED A LEVEL 2 ORC MONSTER

"Orc level two, huh?" Mike nodded in silence. The quest given was not difficult because Mike had a level two orc army. He was just thinking whether he should kill him or not, since a level two Orc was his strongest army for the time being. Plus he did not know what kind of monster would come out in the next dimension break. It could be stronger than a level two Orc, Mike could not risk it when three people had already been sacrificed.

"I don't need to rush. There will definitely be another level two Orc when the dimension break happens." Mike took a slow breath. He did not want anything else to be sacrificed.

"Look at this, isn't he our little Charles?" A familiar voice greeted him from behind. A familiar voice in his ears. How could he forget the owner of the voice that made him suffer?
