Chapter 48.

Saka again stood on the side of the gurney that Salman slept with while pecking the frail body from head to toe.

"How unfortunate the fate of this man is, none of his family came to see his condition" said Saka who again provoked Salman's emotions.

"Hm... The fate is bad, pity him." said Safia as she walked toward the two, she began to follow the flow of the game played by Saka.

"Maybe it's karma for her, she's already hurt Mama and left us both. God is punishing him for the wrong he has done." continued Saka.

"You're right, he deserves this punishment." Safia replied.

"By the way, tomorrow's Mama's birthday, right?" ask Saka.

"Yes, why is it?" answer Safia with a question.

"It's okay, tomorrow Mama doesn't have to go to the hospital first, so does Uncle Alex. Saka wants to take you both somewhere" said Saka.

"Where, baby?" ask Safia.

"Surprise dong, Ma. Mama see, Saka will surprise you both. After that Mama will not be lonely anymore." replied Saka.

"really?" Safia pretended to be surprised.

"Hm... Saka wants Mama to forget the bad memories of the past and start a new life with Uncle Alex. Saka wants you two to get married, Mama doesn't mind, does she?" said Saka.

"Nothing but-but, this is the wish Saka and Mama have to agree. There is no point in storing memories of the past, anyway the person does not care about us." said Saka.

Safia gave a smile as she was amused at hearing her son's words. Let alone obey him, just imagine Safia did not want to.

Alex is a good guy and he is very attentive to both of them. Moreover, Alex once tried to express his heart to Safia.

But in Safia's eyes, Alex is nothing more than a friend and co-worker, Safia can't open her heart to Alex. He no longer wants to be in a relationship with any man, his heart is already imprinted on Salman and cannot give it to anyone else.

Saka and Safia's steps stopped when their ears heard Salman muttering. Saka let go of Safia's hand and went back to the gurney.

"I love you, Safia. I love you so much." again Salman muttered without being able to open his eyes.

Safia glared at Salman, her heart pounding at those words.

Safia feels like she's dreaming. Did he not hear wrong? Does Salman really love her? Since when? Didn't Salman decide to leave?

After spotting with questions filling her brain, Safia rushed over to Salman and stood by the side of the gurney.

"Saka, come out, tell Brother Ina to call Uncle Alex!" safia exclaimed to her son.

"Mas, are you conscious? Come on, open your eyes!"

Safia grabbed Salman's hand and held him tightly and asked Saka to wait outside. Safia will check on Salman before Alex arrives.

Five minutes later, Alex arrived in the room. His eyes faded to find Salman who had opened his eyes, but Salman did not make a sound at all.

"He's conscious?" alex asked staring confusedly at Safia. According to him, this is a miracle, even though the results of the last examination clearly show that Salman's condition is very bad.

"Yes, I checked. It's all normal, it's just that he won't talk." Safia replied, still clasping Salman's hand. Alex who saw it could only smile bitterly, he understood Safia only wanted Salman one.

But it doesn't matter anymore to Alex. He has moved on from Safia, he is only serving his duties as a doctor and friend. He was even happy that if Safia and Salman got back together, it would be better for Saka's development.

As Alex approached and checked on Salman, Safia let go of his grasp and stood slightly away.

"It's quite surprising, I think he's given up but it turns out-"

Alex's words came to a halt as Salman looked at her sharply. Alex frowned, it could be that the person who was about to close the age looked at him like that.

"You're right, his heartbeat's stable, everything's normal. Maybe he's still in shock, let it go. Then I'm gone, in a few minutes there's surgery. Try talking to him!"

After saying that, Alex stepped away because he did not want to disturb them both.

Arriving outside, Alex stops for a moment near Saka who is still faithfully waiting with Ina.

"How's Papa doing, Uncle?" ask the boy.

"It's been so much better, Papa's been sober. Just pray for Papa to recover quickly!" alex answered while shuffling Saka's hair and continued his steps towards the operating room.

Alex did not want to interfere too deeply, he was aware of his position as nothing more than a doctor. He has to keep his distance from Saka and Safia, Alex does not want to be a wall between them.

After Alex disappears from his sight, Saka chooses to enter the room. He wanted to see how the papa was developing.

"So he woke up, too, good." Saka spoke like an adult with no feelings.

"Saka.." Safia glared at him.

"Because he is awake, then our task has also been completed here. Come on, let's just go home. Saka has to prepare our needs for tomorrow, Saka just talked about it with Uncle Alex and he agreed."

Saka glanced at Salman at a glance then grabbed Safia's hand and took her outside.

After the death of Saka and Safia, Salman shed tears staring at the closed door. He understood Saka's intentions and could not possibly oppose him.

Safia deserves a guy like Alex, her best friend is so much better than her. "Congratulations to you both, I'm happy if you're happy too." Salman said in his heart with a bitter smile.

Before long, a nurse came to replace Salman's infusion and opened all the tools attached to his body. Salman does not need the tool anymore, his condition has improved.

"When am I allowed to go home?" salman asked the sister.

"All depends on doctor Alex, you should rest until your health is completely restored" replied the nurse.

After all her work was done, the nurse left the room. Salman just kept silent while thinking about Saka's words earlier, he realized Saka did not want him. Salman has to be sincere because this would never have happened if not for the mistakes he has made in the past.
