Regrets After the Farewell

Regrets After the Farewell
Chapter 33.

"Hendrik, where are you? I need your help right away, get home!" salman wrote on his iPhone screen and sent the message to his best friend.

Salman tried to contact Hendrik on a phone call, but the man never picked him up.

Either Hendrik intentionally or indeed because of the busyness that made him disable the ringtone of his phone.

Salman began to fidget after nearly an hour of standing in front of the bedroom door. He sat on the floor with his back on the door.

Salman poked a pair of elbows at the end of his bent knee while twirling his iPhone waiting for a reply from Hendrik.

If only Salman knew that the woman in the room was indeed Safia, he felt eager to open the door.

But he doubted and feared that if later wrong people, he did not want to be considered harassing women who liked Hendrik.

But somehow Salman's heart strongly believes that the woman is really Safia. Salman could feel the presence of his wife, from earlier his heart rumbled as if there was something in there.

After a long period of time in his thinking, Salman rubbed a rough face and got up from his seat. He left the place for a moment and returned to the dining room.

Arriving near the dining table, Salman called Wati while fiddling with her screen. He opened a gallery and looked for wedding photos he had saved.

"Sir, what Safia do you mean it's this guy?" salman asked after successfully finding a photo of him and Safia while in the guarantee, then thrust his iPhone into the hands of Wati.

Wati who did not understand anything according to him when Salman gave the iPhone to him. When the waiter's eyes were perfectly rounded, she was confused and surprised to see a picture of Safia who looked very beautiful when wrapped in a wedding dress.

Sure enough, the woman in the photo was exactly the same as the woman in the room.

But how could this possibly happen? Wati was completely in disbelief when watching the wedding dress attached to Safia's body.

Does that mean Safia is married? And now the woman's husband was standing before her.

What about Hendrik? Who Wati knew his employer was already smitten at Safia. What would happen if Hendrik knew that the woman he liked was the wife of his own best friend?

"Sir, why are you quiet?" salman flapped his hands in front of Wati's face.

The woman gasped in shock and turned to look at Salman with her eyebrows intertwined. "I-iya, this is the man." a nod to Wati stammered in confirming what Salman was asking.

Duars...

Bak was struck by lightning in broad daylight, Salman's body immediately shook violently with his legs suddenly weak.

His body suddenly staggered and almost fell on the floor, lucky he quickly grabbed the back of the chair to withstand his considerable weight.

"Tu-tuan." cried Wati while holding Salman's arm spontaneously, he was very surprised to see Salman who was suddenly shaken like that.

"Ti-it's okay," sizzled Salman who was feeling fine, he was only shocked after seeing Wati nod her head.

Salman also grabbed a glass of water on the table and sipped it up to the toilet. Suddenly his throat was dry after knowing that the woman was really his wife.

"Sir, may I have the spare key to the room? I want to go in, I want to meet Safia, she's my wife, I've been looking for her for a long time, I miss her a lot." pinta Salman softly looked at Wati with a compassionate face.

He can't wait anymore. Until when he had to wait for Hendrik to come home, while in fact the woman was indeed Safia. He no longer needed permission to meet his own wife.

Wati stuttered and seemed hesitant to agree with Salman's request. It's nothing, he just doesn't want to upset Hendrik if he's too presumptuous to lend Salman a spare key.

However, he also could not bear to refuse the man's request. He felt sorry for seeing Salman who seemed to be devastated after hearing his confession.

"Help me Ma'am, just this once!" pinta Salman pleaded as she cupped her hands in front of her chest. His eyes looked soft and teary.

"Sir, I-I..."

"I know where you are, I understand. But I can't be like this either, I miss Safia. I've even been looking everywhere, help me, Ma'am!" please Salman once again, hoping that Wati will be kind enough to help him.

Seeing the expression of Salman who was so tormented, Wati finally nodded despite being forced. As a woman, she understands how Salman feels right now.

"Come, I'll open that door for you!" invite Wati, she also walked first to the display cabinet and opened a small drawer.

After obtaining the key child Salman requested, Wati continued her steps towards the door. With a slightly trembling hand, he also inserted the key into the hole. "Please!" he told Salman shortly after he opened the door.

"Thank you very much, I owe you. If Hendrik gets angry about this, I'll take responsibility. You don't have to be afraid, I can take you to my house if you need to" Salman told Wati.

"Hmm.." nodded slowly and left the place. He did not want to bother Salman and Safia who should have been very happy after not meeting for a long time.

Although Wati does not know what happened, he believes that Salman really misses his wife. From the gaze and the way Salman spoke, Wati could clearly see there was a huge love in the man's heart.

Chequek...

The door opened after Salman pressed the knob. With his legs shaking and heart pounding, he pushed the door slowly.

At once Safia who was sitting on the edge of the bed gasped while raising her head. How shocked he was when he caught the tall body of Salman who was already standing in the doorway.

Instantly the silence hit, both Salman and Safia were both silent in their respective thoughts. Safia's eyes were perfectly rounded when she looked at Salman's brown bead, while Salman suddenly pointed out small, clear details that had fallen off without her noticing.

I don't know how many wounds he's had in Safia's heart, how much pain did she feel all this time?

Safia did not even respond to Salman and simply fell silent like a lifeless wax statue. There was no expression at all, flat like the toll road at the end there.

"Sa-safia.." - Salman said in a barely audible voice. His lips were suddenly heavy to move, even his pulse seemed to want to stop that very second.

Salman then closed the door quickly and stepped over to Safia who was still in her seat.

Safia did not know whether this was real or not, her body was like it was above the air.

Is this a dream? If true, let Safia sleep a little longer so that she can look at her husband's face for a moment.

"Safia.." said Salman again, bending his legs in front of Safia. Salman knelt on the floor with tears that kept falling down his cheeks.

Then Salman grabbed Safia's hand and grasped it tightly, kissing the back of his wife's hand gently.

Without feeling the rain is getting heavy, Salman can no longer stem his feelings. He did not know if this cry would make Safia believe or even hate him more.
