Regrets After the Farewell

Regrets After the Farewell
Chapter 42.

"You're satisfied, huh? Not only angry at you, I even got dragged into you." Alex bemoaned Salman shortly after arriving in an empty room next to his room.

"Hm... I'm sorry for that, I didn't mean to bring you into this matter, I'm really sorry." replied Salman with his head bowed in lethargy, he knows and is aware of the mistakes he made.

"Don't apologize to me, but apologize to Safia!" alex growled with a murderous glare. If not Salman, I don't know what he wants to do so angry at his best friend.

"Yes, I know that, I'm the one who's guilty of everything that's happened. Then thanks for the help, I have to leave now before Safia sees me."

Salman braced himself from his seat and walked towards the door that was still open.

"Do you really want to leave Safia and your son? Please think again with a cold head! This is no longer related to Safia, but there is your flesh and blood that will suffer after your departure" Alex shouted withholding the footsteps of Salman who had arrived at the doorstep.

Salman immediately turned around and stared at Alex intensely. "I've thought about it very carefully. I think this is the most appropriate choice, Safia and my son will definitely be happy after this. I don't deserve to be in their midst, I'm too bad." Salman replied plainly with a bitter smile.

As strong as Salman struggles to change himself into a better person, it will be difficult for him to regain Safia's heart. There were already too many wounds he had created that he had no face left to be on Safia's side.

"But, Salman-"

"It's Alex, let it go the way it should! Without me, they would have been fine, I left first." Salman said.

"Salman.." infuriated Alex with teeth chattering, he was at a loss for words to convince his best friend.

"Thank you again for your help, again,"

Salman reviewed a faint smile as he patted Alex on the shoulder and stepped away from the hospital after a small debate.

Although the legs felt very heavy in the step, but Salman tried sincerely accept the fact that he had no right to enter into Safia's life.

Salman is very confident that Safia is a strong and strong woman, his ex-wife can certainly continue life without the presence of a loser like him.

Salman is also happy enough to know his son Saka and donate spinal cord for him, at least he can leave peacefully after fulfilling his responsibilities as a father.

Seeing his best friend completely give up at this point, Alex feels pity, but he doesn't have the courage to interfere too deeply.

Alex knows his position is still the same as it used to be. He could not force Salman or Safia to get back together.

Actually Alex was lucky enough given Salman's decision that no longer expects Safia, it means he still has a chance to replace his best friend.

Alex could not do that. She knows that Safia doesn't need her except as a doctor for Saka and her co-workers.

He just hopes that someday it will all come back to the way it was. Moreover, a few years back his relationship with Mika has begun to improve. Only God knows what will happen next.

"Sa-Safia.." muttered Alex stammered with a pale countenance, even his hands suddenly sweating so anxiously.

"Where have you been?" safia asked with an intimidating glare, a suspicious feeling gnawing at her heart after long enough to lose track of Alex. He deliberately sought out the man to inquire about Salman's whereabouts.

"I-I.." again Alex's words were broken because he did not know what to answer. He looks like a cat caught off guard.

Whether Safia had been in the room since when, Alex didn't know. It was fortunate that Salman had already left the place before Safia could find him.

Alex was really confused, he seemed to be caught between two very difficult choices.

On the one hand, he felt happy after making sure that Saka's condition was fine after getting a spinal cord donor from Salman, it means that Saka can move like a child in general.

But on the other hand, Alex feels sorry to see the fate of Salman who must stay away from his son. No father would be able to get through that even though men are bastards.

Moreover, Alex knows exactly until this moment Safia still keeps the same taste for Salman. All of that was proven when Alex tried to approach him, Safia reasoned that she did not want to be in a relationship after a failure with Salman.

But Alex knows for sure that all that is only the reason for Safia. In reality Safia still loves Salman as much as seven years ago, but ego trumps everything.

"Why is your face so pale? Does this have anything to do with Salman?" tanya Safia emphasized.

"No-no, I'm just surprised to see you in my room. What was? Did something happen to Saka?" alex's alibi is looking for an excuse. He tried hard to look calm in front of Safia then stepped slowly towards the chair.

After sitting opposite Safia, Alex again asked as if he did not know anything about Salman's departure just now. "What's wrong? Why are you even here? Then who accompanied Saka in her room?"

"Saka had just slept, there was Ina accompanying her there." Safia replied firmly.

"Oh, thank goodness then, I think something happened to Saka." Alex breathed a sigh of relief after hearing Safia's statement.

Unfortunately Alex's reaction was even more arousing suspicion in Safia's heart. He was very sure that Alex was hiding something from him. "Yes, then excuse me."

Without saying much, Safia got up from her seat and walked away from Alex who had just sat while looking at her without a blink.

Alex who saw Safia's departure was silent with a look of confusion and head bobbles witnessed Safia's strange behavior.

Alex thought Safia would scold him with a series of questions about Salman's departure, but his conjecture turned out to be gravely wrong.

The more here, of course, Alex is increasingly confused to think about the problem of his best friend's ex-wife. Alex does not understand how to behave because he has to weigh the feelings between friends and the woman he once loved.

"It's really complicated" Alex muttered as he leaned back against the back of the chair. He sighed heavily and rubbed his face violently then closed his eyes for a moment.
