Regrets After the Farewell

Regrets After the Farewell
Chapter 44.

After getting what she was looking for, Safia came back to Salman and tilted her body with difficulty. Safia revealed the shirt Salman was wearing and cleaned the surgical wound with a makeshift device.

At once Safia's tears fell and broke to see Salman's condition which was quite alarming. Should not have left the hospital so soon, Safia feared this would be bad for Salman's health.

After cleaning and covering Salman's wounds with bandages, Safia rushed to return the tool she took earlier to its original place. As soon as he regained consciousness after his memory returned, he quickly left the kitchen for fear that someone might misunderstand his presence.

Upon arrival in the living room, Safia sat down for a moment in front of Salman. Her eyes were watering again staring at Salman's shabby face slicing through the recesses of the heart. He felt guilty for asking Salman to perform a spinal cord transplant for the recovery of his son.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have asked you to do the surgery, I was too selfish without thinking about the impact you had to have."

Salman's earplugs heard it from Safia's mouth, as soon as her eyelids moved and opened slowly.

Salman commented with a smile when he found Safia's face, which he had longed for, a drop of clear liquid spilled and fell on her cheek.

"There's nothing wrong with you, you've done your best for our son. I don't mind doing this at all, I'm even willing to give my whole organs for my son's recovery. Maybe this is how God rebuked me after all the pain and suffering I created, I was even ready to leave this world as long as my son was healed."

"Mas, what are you saying?" safia lapse with a feeling of uncertainty. His chest was increasingly sliced to hear Salman's heart-wrenching speech.

"Please take care of Saka and make him a good person like you, I believe you can replace my position as a father. I'm tired of Safia, I want to take a break. Can I hold your hand one last time? I-"

"Mas.." cut Safia into tears.

"No Safia, don't cry! Smile for me for a minute, I would love to see that smile, please just do this for me once!" salman murmured with a voice choked in his throat, his breath roaring as the still faithful pain gnawed at his back.

"Enough, don't talk anymore! You can't leave so soon, Saka still needs you so much" Safia said sobbing, she couldn't bear to hear Salman's rant that seemed to have no hope of life.

"I'm not dead, Safia. I'm still alive, why do you keep crying? You should be happy because this bastard will never interfere with your life again." as Salman carved a smile, his hand moved slowly touching Safia's cheek and stroked her gently.

"You look ugly when you cry, I don't like this kind of crybaby Safia. The Safia I know is tough and brave, the jovial and easy-smiling Safia, I miss those days."

"Enough, don't talk anymore!" angered Safia shut Salman's mouth with her fingers.

Salman grabbed Safia's hand that covered her mouth and held it tightly and then gently kissed it. "I want to sleep, Safia. I'm really tired, I want to meet our parents and apologize for all the mistakes I've done to you in the past, I hope you can also forgive this despicable me. I'm sorry to hurt a woman as good as you are, I'm really sorry."

After saying all that, Salman's eyes closed again slowly. The grip of the hand that had been very tight, slowly stretched and finally released along with the roar of Salman's breath that sounded irregular.

Safia who realized that was suddenly aghast while looking carefully at Salman. Her cries broke as bad thoughts flashed through her mind.

Is this the end of everything? Is Safia really going to lose Salman for good?

As Safia's screams echoed through the room, Safia dropped her face on Salman's chest and shook him violently.

"Mas, please don't go! Remember Saka Mas, he won't be able to accept this." Safia cried with a trembling voice.

Salman, who had been almost asleep, now woke up again when he felt a heartbeat that was beating very fast.

"Safia, I'm not dead. I just want to sleep for a moment" muttered Salman clutching Safia tightly against his chest.

"We're going to the hospital now yeah, you should"

"But, Mas-"

"Let me hold you for a moment, I miss you Safia, I miss you so much" Salman said with his eyes closed.

"Yes..." Safia wanted to stay away but her heart refused to do so.

"I'm sorry, Safia, I'm really sorry" murmured Salman pulled Safia over her body.

"Mas.." lamented Safia with a trembling body, she feared it would boomerang for the relationship of Salman and the woman she believed was Salman's wife. After all, the two of them should not be this close.

"Just for a moment Safia, I will never cross my boundaries, I just want to hug you, let's just say this is my last request."

"Mas.." snapped Safia who was not happy to hear those words.

"Hehe... Don't be angry, Safia. I was just kidding," Salman chuckled, though his eyes could no longer be opened.

About five minutes later, Salman finally fell asleep in the warmth he had long since missed. While Safia was just silent without a fight, in her heart she also felt something touching the recesses of her heart.

Safia could not lie to her feelings, she felt comfortable in Salman's arms. Whether what would happen after this, Safia did not want to think about it, she just wanted to enjoy this short time.

Long-moved in his thoughts, Safia also fell asleep on Salman's body, both washed away in a dream that would somehow end.

Will all those bitter memories culminate at this point? Did Salman really not want to live longer and see his son grow up to be a great man?

I don't know, nobody knows except the owner of the body. Even Safia herself did not know how and what her ex-husband felt.

In the hospital,,,

"Sir Ina, where's Mama? Why hasn't Mama come back yet? Did Mama fail to find Papa?" cerca Saka who just woke up from her sleep. The boy was impatient to see the stature of the father who promised Safia would come to visit him.

"Saka who is patient first yes, Mama must have come with Papa. Maybe Papa Saka again has some business, so it's too late to come here." Ina's alibi that Safia assigned to look after her only son.

"But Saka can't wait to see Papa. Does Papa want to see Saka? Or, does Papa really not love Saka?" terka the boy.

"No Saka, that's not true. Papa is very dear to Saka, it's just that Papa can't be with you, Saka will understand when the time has come." explained Ina.

"Why indeed, Brother? What Papa and Mama-"

"Sstt... Don't think strangely, it's better for Saka to eat first so that his energy is strong when he meets Papa later!" cut Ina.

"Sir Ina sure?" tanya Saka made sure.

"Yes, Brother Ina is very sure. Sis Ina knows very well how Papa is, he is a good person and does not like to break promises." replied the waiter.

"Alright, Saka believes. Brother Ina please bribe Saka yes, Saka cannot eat alone." pinta the boy with a hopeful smile.

After successfully convincing Saka, Ina quickly took the food that had just come, complete with drugs that must be taken Saka according to the doctor's instructions. The boy ate voraciously remembering that he would meet the father in a moment.
