"Uncle?" greeting Saka shortly after the door was opened by Safia. Salman stepped in, his arrival greeted with a clear stroke of disappointment seen on Saka's face.
The boy lowered his head in lethargy, he felt extremely disappointed after seeing who had come to his room.
"Handsome boy, how are you?" salman asked while standing on the side of the gurney. He rubbed the boy's head and scrambled his hair.
Salman was relieved after witnessing for himself that Saka was fine, that was enough even though his own circumstances were very worrying.
"Why is his face so ugly? What arrival of Uncle is undesirable?" Salman frowned. "Yes, then Uncle just go."
"No need Uncle, Uncle's here. Saka's okay, Saka's just-" the boy suddenly shut up, he didn't know what to say.
Salman bowed his back and hugged Saka with an erratic feeling, his heart sliced at the look on the son's very sad face.
Salman knew Saka wanted to know him as a father figure but he realized he had lost the right to say who he really was.
Safia who was still at the door closed it and walked over to the two. Safia stood on the other side of the gurney, facing off against Salman who still embraced Saka.
Safia's heart slipped at the sight, now she was very confident in her decision. He grabbed Saka's hand and said. "Saka dear, from now on stop calling him Uncle. He's not Uncle Saka, but-"
Safia was silent for a moment, Salman who realized it turned his head straight towards her. "It goes without saying that if it feels heavy, this is enough to make me happy. I don't want anything else."
"But what, Ma? Why is Mom silent? Mama lied, right? Mama did not bring Papa here, Mama actually brought this Uncle." said Saka who felt lied to by Safia, even though he was very happy to meet the father according to Safia's promise.
Safia was stunned, she smiled bitterly as she stared fixedly at Saka and then turned to looking at Salman.
"Mama didn't lie, Mama kept her promise. Papa has come, Papa is here and very close to us. So close, Saka can feel the heartbeat of Papa who is hugging Saka." said Safia who continues to stare at Salman, the man's gaze seemed to give strength for him to tell the truth.
"Saka, look at that Uncle, watch his face carefully! Doesn't Saka feel like there's a resemblance on your face?"
Saka narrowed his eyes, he had not been able to digest the words Safia had spoken just now. But Saka immediately looked up to peck the face of Salman who is now also looking at him bitterly. Salman can't make a sound, his tongue is twisted.
"He's the man Saka asks every day" Safia said in tears. It was hard to say that, but Safia had no other choice, Saka had the right to know before anyone else said it.
Saka still silently stared at Salman without a blink. Either he was confused or shocked to hear the mother's confession.
"I'm sorry, Papa, son. Papa did not mean to leave Saka, Papa was really sorry." finally Salman made a sound as broken cries filled the room.
Salman again held Saka who was still confused and rubbed his head.
"No, you two must be lying. Where possible-"
Saka pushed Salman with all his might. Salman who was still not fully strong suddenly retreated backwards, his waist accidentally hit the nightstand closet.
"Aaaah.." shouts Salman spontaneously while holding the scar on the back waist.
Salman fell silent as he watched his palm filled with fresh blood.
"Mas.." cried Safia loudly and ran around the gurney that Saka slept in.
Salman simply smiled and forbade Safia to come closer. "Where, I'm fine."
"But, Mas-"
Salman then turned to looking at Saka who looked at him with anger. "Once again Papa apologizes, you have every right to hate Papa. Papa is a bad guy, Papa has hurt Mama and left you both. Papa shouldn't be in this place. Be a good boy, please take care and love Mama!"
Salman cupped both hands in front of his chest. Her tears could no longer be contained, but she could do nothing and chose to leave the room.
"Mas.." cried Safia with tears.
Salman twisted his neck and pegged Safia with reddened eyes enduring the pain. "Please take care of Saka for me!"
After saying that, Salman disappeared from behind the door. His steps staggered after losing a lot of blood dripping on the floor where he stood.
Instead of asking for help, Salman chose to leave the hospital. There was no point in treating the wound, his desire to heal was no longer there. Her life had ended since deciding to leave Safia.
At the hospital gate, Salman leaned against the wall while holding off the bleeding by hand. His head suddenly spun around filled with flying stars, his vision darkening.
Bugs...
Salman could no longer position himself, his body uprooted and lying in front of the gate.
"Well..."
A woman screamed hysterically when she found Salman's body lying covered in blood. People running around filled the place and some carried Salman's body and took him to the hospital.
"What's going on?" safia asked shortly after arriving at the lobby, she unintentionally heard the commotion.
Safia had intended to catch up with Salman, but her attention was diverted when she found the sisters running towards the ER.
"There's a man who fell in front of the gate, he seems to have lost a lot of blood."
Degs...
Safia was aghast with round eyes and a racing heart.
Is that Salman?
Safia quickly ran towards the ER with erratic chaotic thoughts. If it was really Salman, Safia wouldn't be able to see it.
As she was about to enter the room, Safia's steps were restrained by Alex who had just been called a nurse. It just so happened that Alex was the standby doctor at the hospital. "Let me. Go, accompany Saka!"
"But, Alex-"
"He'll be fine, I'll handle it. Pray that Salman can survive!"
"Is that true, Salman?" safia asked with a paled look.
"Yes, it's Salman." Alex confirmed, entering the ER room and closing the door from the inside.
Safia retreated backwards, her back hitting the wall as tremors shook her entire body. Safia cried, she was afraid Salman would not be able to hold on.
"Mas, you have to be strong. You can't give up, Saka needs you, she just hasn't gotten used to this. I'm sure Saka didn't mean to hate you, please hold on for your son!" inward Safia weeps over this situation, she herself has not been able to lose Salman. It's okay Salman is far from him, but at least Salman can still breathe the same air as him.
