"Oh, defensive. I understand," Laura said with a stiff smile.
"You like that country lady, huh? How disgusting!"
"Not really," replied Trevor.
"Maybe there's not much that can match your beauty, but that lady you're talking about, has a lot of criteria that you don't have at all."
"Is that really?"
"Consolence, for example. Allegiances. Generosity. And something I call soul."
"Oh, I see," Laura grumbled, her smile growing stiffer.
"And who exactly is this suri our model?"
Trevor shrugged his shoulders. "The future mother of my children, perhaps."
Laura flabbergasted. "What?"
"Goodbye, Laura. Be nice and close the ink behind you later, huh? And give my regards to your fiancee."
Anger flared in Laura's eyes when she finally understood that she had no power over Trevor. That there really is someone in this world who can refuse his will. Someone he can't control.
And that fact, Trevor finally realized, was the reason why the woman was willing to wait for him all this time. Waiting for an opportunity like a starving spider willing to wait for its big catch to come closer.
It was just a game for Laura. The marriage he now realized could not be won.
Laura threw a very disdainful look at Trevor, then stepped out while slamming the door behind him. Trevor approaches Puntu and locks him.
When Trevor leaned against the door, still in a daze, his heart was racing with the understanding that he had almost ruined his life by marrying that woman.
Trevor realized that he now felt lighter, as if someone had lifted a heavy burden of responsibility off his shoulder. Responsibilities that are of no use, are gone. I think he can breathe easier.
While his spontaneous words about marrying Grace Kenwood, Trevor says it only to upset Laura. But now that he had voiced it out loud, the idea did not sound too bad.
At least Grace is not the type of woman who will use everything from her body to her tears to control Trevor.
Trevor pondered if he paired up with Grace for a moment, then shuddered, annoyed with himself.
Oh, my God, he must be crazy. How could he possibly think of marriage so quickly when he had just escaped a marriage trap?
What is the guarantee that his love story with Grace will end better than the disaster he is experiencing now?
It's true, Grace is a much different woman to Laura, and the memory of that woman's innocent, sweet kiss still haunts Trevor, but it bites once...
With a frustrated groan, Trevor went to his bedroom to change clothes to attend a dinner tonight.
As he takes off the shirt and throws it to the side angrily, he tries to convince himself that the purchase of the farmland has nothing to do with Grace nor with any other damned woman.
Grange was something he ended up buying for himself. Not only to vent his architectural hobby, but also as a place of escape for him, where he can escape from the world and all its demands, where he can recover himself.
Tomorrow morning, as soon as the sun rises, he'll be gone. Sure enough, he could not wait to leave London and start living in a remote place in the middle of nowhere, forgotten by the whole world.
Sounds so happy.
But of course, he must first get through this tormenting dinner, with five couples in love. Trevor bowed and sighed.
This show will be very painful.
