Trevor leaves Grace with first, ignoring the confusion in the beautiful blue eyes of the woman.
Then Trevor continued to wander without even looking back, towards the door where the happy couple had entered. Right now, Trevor had completely forgotten his intention to make Laura jealous.
It was not her at all, after all, in her heart, Trevor was already indifferent.
Trevor begins to think that maybe he never really loved Laura. He tried for a while, more or less. He repeatedly told his friends when they were on duty, insisting that he really loved Laura, usually when he was drunk in a prosperous country, with a prostitute in his lap.
He used to think that his friends laughed at him because they were *********** who did not believe in love and only used women as they pleased, at least until most of his friends got married and changed their habits. But now Trevor is starting to understand.
His comrades-in-arms already knew that Trevor was always trying to fool himself when it came to Laura, a plan, a dream, maybe that was the only picture in his head that he had loved so far.
An illusion that could never completely fool his heart.
That was the problem all along, why should Trevor be surprised to find that the woman finally dumped him? It was clear that the two of them both did not have a strong sense of attraction for each other.
If only Trevor would have acknowledged that before today. If only he would stop denying that they both don't see each other as a trophy, an award.
They seem to deserve both, their families support each other, consider them a superior couple, and any healthy man would be very happy if he could make Laura the mother of his children. To be honest, it was truly a miracle that woman was willing to wait for him that long.
But deep down, Trevor should know that nothing really binds them.
Just emptiness, Trevor thought. Perfect.
It was from that foundation that he built his future, and for that, he could not blame anyone but himself.

A diversion, so that's what he means tonight to the man, Grace mused, feeling a little stung by that consciousness.
But now the man is gone. Out through another secret passage.
There must be something that makes him upset. Grace hoped it wasn't for her, she was even quite sure that tonight she didn't make a mistake with that man at all.
No, it seemed that the man saw something or someone across the room that he did not like.
Grace tiptoed, trying to look around and find out what might have been the cause, but it was at this point that her father found her
"Here you seem to be! Look, Grace, I finally found your partner dancing. My daughter's been waiting all night to dance with you, George, like I said. Too bad for her, don't let her be a wallflower."
"Father!" scold Grace upset.
"Good, sir." George smiled at Grace, while he frowned at her.
Wallflower, exactly! His father must not have seen as he danced with the former spy's honorable man. Which, if well thought out again, was better that way, given the strange reaction the man had raised on him.
A father may not approve, especially if his father is a pastor.
Well, but it was his own father who ordered him to serve the man! Grace reminded herself.
"I'm next, if you don't mind," Father Kenwood added in an affectionate tone.
"Don't promise me your next dance for another young man. A young girl should have left her last dance for her old father."
"Well, sir," Grace quipped with a hint of cynicism.
Her father's blue eyes glistened behind the round glasses, because the priest knew how Grace felt when she had to perform in front of the crowd.
But it did not feel too scary anymore when after he passed it with Lord Trevor.
