"Don't tell me to come out. The carnivores. They're hunting me."
"Well, but you can't stay here either!" obviously Grace, although it took a while for her to understand the meaning of the man's words. Then indecent shadows began to appear in his mind.
"Oh my God," he said slowly.
Trevor had mistaken Grace for one of the shameless women who had been trailing her in the dance hall.
Trevor also frowned, when he finally realized his mistake.
"Well," the man turned around and scratched his cheek. "It's so bad."
"I swear it..."
"I'm sorry, Miss, um. May I know your name?"
"Now you just asked me my name?"
"It's better to be late than not at all" Trevor said, shrugging his shoulders.
"I don't think so." Grace shook her head firmly, even though she actually did not like having to be rude like this.
"I think it's better if we split up without getting to know each other. That way we might be able to forget this embarrassing incident."
"Do you think that?" trevor muttered, while Grace ignored the guiltiness of her lie, because in fact, she already knew who the man was. There was no need for any introductions, at least from his side.
As for the man, it would be best if he didn't know who Grace was. It would be safer for Grace's reputation.
"Well," said Lord Trevor, and though he seemed a little astonished by Grace's drastic change in attitude toward him, it was immediately so cold that they had just shared a hot kiss, but he still tried to bow respectfully.
"As your request. Accept my deepest apology for this regretful mistake."
He then looked hesitant, as if he wanted to say more, but then undo his intentions.
"Well... That's all." Then he stepped to the door.
Grace watched warily as Lord Trevor moved, her heart racing. But when he heard the noise in the corridor, he immediately gasped, chasing, and pulled the man's arm.
"Wait!" whispered.
Lord Trevor looked at the confused Grace and smiled mischievously.
Grace resentfully told the man to shut up.
"Look! There's someone in the corridor!" whisper while putting your index finger on your lips.
"Then?"
"If you step now, and someone sees me in here alone, in a dark room, my reputation will be ruined! There will be nothing left for my family. You can't destroy me" whispered Grace angrily.
"Well, gone are my goals and ideals," grumbled Lord Trevor softly.
"alright. Don't be so scared. I'm sure I'll be able to find another way out of here." Giving a mocking look at Grace, the man turned around and walked across the room towards the double door, opened it and stepped onto the small balcony overlooking the garden.
Grace followed the man doubtfully.
Lord Trevor looked up to estimate the distance of the balcony with the ground below. Then, in a lazy style gripped the balcony trellis, and swung one foot to the opposite side.
"Be careful!" whispered Grace warning, which made her receive a long sharp glare from the man.
"Thank you for your concern, Miss...?"
Grace is back.
"Basic stubbornness" reproached Lord Trevor, then nimbly lowered his body on the ledge outside the balcony. From there he shifted to the side, to an iron trellis mounted on the outside of the mansion wall that was interspersed with roses.
From there, the former spy casually climbed up as if this was his daily job. And that's probably true, based on the story Grace heard about the man.
Except the next little thing.
"Ouch!" Grace heard the man grumbling as she looked up from the edge of the balcony, watching the man's nimble movements with admiration.
"What's the problem?" exclaim Grace in a loud whisper.
"Born! Not something you're gonna worry about. You won't even tell me your name. I'll still be alive" Lord Trevor assured Grace in a sulking tone.
Grace refrained from smiling.
As he was about to reach the flower garden below, Lord Trevor stepped down from the trellis and raised his finger to his mouth to reduce the blood in his small wound.
