"I'm sorry I just left you" George muttered as Grace's father walked away.
Grace grabbed the man's arm and patted him as a sign that he was forgiving him.
"I'm pretty happy you're back."
"I won, you know."
"It's always better to end it when you're trying to get to the top. George?" Grace immediately asked what was on her mind, as the musicians were currently taking a break.
"Tell me more about that agent of the Order."
"Don't tell me you're in love with him too, while I'm not here?"
"No, of course not! I was just looking around at the guests, and I realized that the man had suddenly rushed out just a moment ago. I don't understand why."
"I'm sure I know," said George wryly, then looked around.
"That's the guy!"
"Who?"
"Surely that woman was the reason Montgomery left. Lady Laura Bayne." Geroge.
"I told Dad's secretary that inviting both of them at once was a bad idea. No one ever listens to me."
"Why indeed?"
"They think I'm a dumb kid."
"No, why don't you want them both invited at once?"
George shrugged his shoulders.
"They were supposed to be married, but Mongomery disappeared for months at the end of the war, the woman assumed Montgomery was dead and gave up waiting. She's finally engaged to another man."
Grace's eyes grew.
"You serious? So bad!"
"Not for that woman. That's his new girlfriend, Major Lord Dewhurst, of the Cavalry. The man would instantly become an earl once his father died, while the spy was only the duke's smallest son."
"I'm sure Laura must have embraced that good opportunity. It's a pity to waste the moon that's already in your grasp, and she's your age."
Grace looked at George confused.
"Truly old-fashioned."
"That's not what I mean. He's not like you. She's a girl who hangs out with the upper class. Arrogant and somewhat duitan eyes. Montgomery may be called a hero and so on, but there's a good chance that the man won't come back alive" George said.
"In the meantime there was an earl candidate who knelt holding Lady Laura. What do you think a woman would do?"
Grace sure as hell can't say what's in her head.
"Show me that woman."
George looked around.
"He shouldn't be hard to find. Lady Laura is the most beautiful woman in every room she walks into. Almost half of the noble men felt in love with him, or at least harbored lust for him."
"George."
"There." George nodded to the left, Grace followed the young man's gaze until she found the woman she was referring to.
Oh, thought Grace, feeling faint at the unusual beauty the woman had. Oh. I get it.
Lady Laura Bayne is a beautiful goddess with diamonds adorning her blonde hair and silk dresses that form her perfect curves.
Grace felt her heart faint slightly from worry. So this is the woman who can ensnare the heart of a man like Lord Trevor, Grace thought with a sigh. Oh, well.
What he felt with the man was quite pleasant, but it was all over now. George also sighed while looking at Lady Laura.
"I think Montgomery was stupid for not marrying him before he went to war."
"Why didn't he marry her?" Grace turned away from the figure that made her depressed.
"don't know. That's a surprising thing, really... I mean a woman like that can't get her to act fast. If it were me, a woman like Lady Laura would make me do anything. But it seemed, such a woman was already surrounded with people who were willing to give anything for her."
"Maybe that's why Lady Laura chose Lord Trevor," Grace murmured. The man he met earlier looked too strong to let himself be set up by a beautiful woman.
