Jerry's Freedom

After several years of punishment, Jerry felt very sorry for his actions that hurt Nadira. Every day, he reflected on his mistakes and tried hard to change into a better person.

"Nadira, I want to start by saying a big apology. I truly regret all my actions that have inflicted so many wounds in your life and harmed your son Hafiz. I can't imagine how much pain you're feeling because of me" Jerry said in a trembling voice. He was afraid Nadira would never forgive him.

Nadira looked at Jerry seriously. Then, lower his gaze.

"Jerry, your sorry words will not immediately erase everything that has happened. My son has suffered the consequences of your actions and I still feel the deep wounds as a result. However, I will listen to what you want to say."

"I understand, Nadira. I know that my words are not enough to change the past. However, I want you to know that I have spent many years in prison receiving a sentence for my wrongdoing. I reflected on every second of the mistake I made. It opened my eyes and made me realize how bad I was doing."

"What made you change, Jerry? Why do you feel sorry now?"

"Hafiz, your son is the turning point in my life. Seeing the impact I had on her, on her future, and on you as a family, broke my heart. I can't continue living in my indifference and arrogance anymore. I promised myself to be a better person, not only because I wanted to improve myself, but also because I wanted to change the lives of other children that I might be able to infect with my mistakes."

Nadira looked at Jerry back carefully.

"What makes you so sure this time is different, Jerry? How can I trust you?"

"I understand your doubts, Nadira. My words probably don't mean much right now. However, I not only spoke, but also acted. I've been through a rehabilitation program and been on therapy to overcome my aggressive nature. I tried hard to control my anger and understand the consequences of my actions. I want to set a good example, not just for myself, but for children who may have been affected by my choices in the past."

After a moment of thought, Nadira said, "Jerry, I can't say that everything will go right back to how it was. Hafiz still has to go through the hardships and traumas you've caused. However, I see your real efforts in changing. If you really want to improve yourself and help other children, then there may be hope for our future."

Although Nadira is still injured, seeing a noticeable change in Jerry's attitude. He could feel the deep sincerity and regret behind Jerry's words and attitude. Although she has not fully forgiven him, Nadira feels moved by Jerry's efforts and transformation.

"Thank you, Nadira. I will never be able to erase the mistakes of the past, but I promise to keep trying. Please convey my apologies to Hafiz and the rest of your family."

The long journey towards the restoration of their relationship is not over, but at least Jerry has started the first step, that's the most important. He promises to keep trying to be a better person and prove his change through actions, not just words.

"Thank you, Jerry. It's true, my life has changed. I have found peace and happiness with my husband. We have been blessed with two sons who make me proud every day."

"I understand that the past can't be changed, Jerry. Now, my focus is on building a harmonious family and giving the best to my children. I believe that my happiness is now here."

"I respect and fully understand your decision, Nadira. I will never try to ruin your present life. Just want you to know that I really regret my actions and hope to contribute to your children's lives in a positive way, if allowed. It's all to make amends for my past mistakes."

"I appreciate your regret, Jerry, and I also believe that everyone deserves a chance to change. However, as a mother and wife, my responsibility is to protect and provide the best for my family. I hope you understand that."

"I won't try to force anything or interfere with your life. I just want you to know that I'm committed to being a better person."

"Thank you for your understanding, Jerry. I appreciate your efforts to change. Let's focus on the future and ensure each other's happiness. Hopefully in the future we can maintain this relationship well as friends, even family."

"I agree, Nadira. In the future, let's support each other as brothers. I hope that we can all find peace and happiness in the course of our lives."

Apparently, when Nadira went to see Jerry, Ammar followed Nadira. Previously, Nadira paid with Ammar to go to the bookstore. However, Ammar suspects why Nadira behaves uncharacteristically whining for company. In fact, Nadira was never immediately able to receive a rejection answer from Ammar. Nadira always asks Ammar to leave his activities for a moment if he wants to go to the bookstore or to other places he wants to visit, even if his parents and brother do not contact him, Nadira always scoops.
