There is no difference between day and night in this poorly ventilated room. The room was only 3x5 meters, like a small room in a simple house inhabited by five male prisoners. It was snowing outside, making the air inside this room feel extremely cold. Let alone heating the room, their bed is only a sheet of mattress that sticks just on the floor.
A large man with a height of 189 centimeters, bent over while holding the iron bars in front of him very tightly. "Aaahhhhhhh." cried Ted Baxter in the silence of the holding room. A cry filled with regret. But no one understands his sadness. The other occupants of the detention room thought, Ted is depressed because he has been living in this place for days.
"Hey, man! This is not your house! How dare you wake me up!" shouted one of the prisoners in the other cell who was disturbed by the screams of Ted Baxter.
"If you want to cry, suck on your wife's chest! Here no woman can breastfeed you, bad boy!" the prisoner sat behind Ted Baxter.
Ted Baxter turned his head towards the prisoner, who was sitting behind him. His face suddenly changed. The nature of his plume re-emerged, with a piercing look, he looked at the person.
"Don't you take my wife, trash mouth!" throttled Ted Baxter who was clutching the prisoner's shirt that had lace him up. He lifted the skinny body with his hands still cuffed, until the skinny body was attached to the prison wall.
"Who do you think you are, huh? How dare you touch me, bald man!" The skinny man's voice sounded like a threat, even though his thin body was still within the grasp of Ted Baxter's hand. The person was able to kick*********** Ted Baxter, making the bald man fall down and let go of his grip.
"Give this bald man a lesson! Let him know how he respects the people in power here!" he yelled at his friends.
The other two prisoners, who had been silent and watching, suddenly rose from their seats and began beating Ted Baxter. Making a scene in the detention room.
The door to the prison was open, one of the two guards blowing whistles to stop the prisoners fighting.
"Everything's out!" shouted the tall prison guard. "Hey, the four of you, come with me now!"
The jailer pushed the four vandals, including Ted Baxter, into the warden's room and put them one by one in isolation.
The next day, in Hazal's study at Istanbul High Prosecutor's building, Hazal's cell phone rings. A foreign number was on Hazal's phone screen. Japheth's girlfriend had no intention of picking up her phone, but it still continued to ring on her desk.
"Yes, hello..," replied Hazal who was disturbed by the sound of her phone. A man's voice came from behind his cell phone.
"It's me, Danner's daughter," said Ted Baxter, who was in the Police Captain's room.
"You...? Ted Baxter?" ask the unbelieving Hazal if the criminal contacted him. "Have you changed your mind?" guess Hazal thinks Ted is gonna tell her who's behind her parents' murder.
"I want to meet Nuran and Ali, can you bring them here?"
"I'll try, I'll talk to Nuran" replied Hazal. "As-" Hazal's words were interrupted when she heard the voice of the tut. The young prosecutor just let out his breath.
After contacting Hazal, the police officer was about to take Ted Baxter back to the detention room. The look in his eyes was not as sharp as it used to be, now that the bead had been smeared, after the Police Captain told the date of his trial.
"How long will the judge decide my case?" ask the police officer who accompanied him.
"Depends on how quickly you confess your actions to the judge."
"How many years is the sentence for a murderer?" ask Ted Baxter who has entered the door of the holding room.
"Well, maybe ten.twenty years.lifetime or maybe death, you can ask your lawyer," the police officer answered, shrugging his shoulders and putting Ted Baxter back in his cell.
Ted Baxter sat on his bed. A few pairs of eyes were looking at him with a sinister look. Another prisoner, younger than him, came and sat down next to him. The young man with his choppy brown hair just sat quietly beside Ted Baxter.
"Why are you sitting next to me?" ask Ted Baxter with his flat intonation. But the young man just sat quietly and was indifferent to Ted. The two prisoners were swept away in silence in the room. Without realizing it, Ted took out his heart to the young man. The person he didn't know his name and the reason why he was in this place.
"At least after being free, you can still gather with your family," the young man said letting out his voice.
Ted Baxter stared in the bead of the eyes of the young man who was about twenty-five years old. "Family..." Ted digested that one word in his mind.
"Who do I call family?" his murmurs spoke to themselves, laughing and crying in turn.
The young man looked at Ted, he frowned, as if astonished at the demeanor of the bald man, "Do you have no family? Wife, son, father, or mother?"
"It turns out you're more chatty than I thought." Ted laughed a little. "I just realized that I still have a family, all those years I didn't recognize them as my family."
Ted took a photograph from inside his pillowcase and showed the old photo to his new friend.
"Wife and your son?" guess the young man.
"Yes." Yeah." The short answer that slid from the lips of the bald man.
"At least you're luckier than me, Old Man." The young man returned a photo of Nuran and Ali to Ted Baxter.
Ted scrunched up his bare forehead and changed his sitting position to face the young man, "What do you mean?"
"The police caught me when I was about to rob a mansion, at that time I needed money for my sister's treatment, but before I managed to get the money, the doctor told me that my sister could not be saved."
The young man dropped his body on Ted Baxter's folding mattress, the white ceiling bouncing off his black bead for a moment and then said, "Died of an accident. For a few years, my brother and I have been living in an orphanage. Two years ago, the doctor sentenced my sister to blood cancer. He's my only family, the reason I'm still alive. But fate says otherwise, my sister left me forever after my parents, and I ended up here instead. I hope, the judge sentences me to life in prison, so that I can stay here."
Hearing the story of his new friend, made Ted Baxter remember his sins twenty years ago. He made plans for the Danner family's death as if it were just an accident. But in the accident only Erkan Danner died, and he had to kill Ayla Danner and her daughter with his own hands. The Danner princess had become an orphan because of her, just like the young man she was with right now.
"Oh my God" said Ted Baxter, rubbing his face.
What if Ali had experienced something like that?
The next day...
Hazal goes to the Central Police Station to meet Ted Baxter. Hazal waits in the prisoner's room, alone. He did not tell his other family members.
This big room is dominated by white and black, there is nothing special about the room. In this room, prisoners can meet with their families or anyone who comes to visit them. There are no barriers or barriers for them to communicate with each other.
This room is square, looks quite spacious because only in the contents of two wooden tables, and each table there are four plastic chairs with a backrest. Hazal sat in one of the inner chairs, which was close to a door connecting the large room with the holding room. The young woman had been waiting for Ted Baxter for tens of minutes, she was anxious whether Ted would see her, if the man found that his wife and child were not with him at this time.
A sheaft prison warden called the only plontos-headed prisoner, "Ted Baxter, someone came to visit you!"
The bald man got up from his folding bed and walked in the steps of the prison warden. A smile appears to be rising at the corner of his lip line. He steadily stepped his feet.
The door to the connecting room was opened by police officers. Hazal stood up from his seat as soon as he saw Ted Baxter who had revealed the trunk of his nose. The smile on the corner of Ted's lips suddenly faded instantly, when he saw only Danner's daughter who was there.
"Where are Nuran and Ali?" he approached Hazal.
"They don't want to see you" said Hazal, looking at Ted's bead, who looked angry and disappointed.
"You must have lied to me! They won't refuse to meet me!" ted's anger exploded. He was about to grip Hazal's arms, reflexively reversing his steps. The police officer restrains Ted's body from approaching Hazal.
How much he expected the arrival of Nuran and Ali, because of his disappointment he turned around to re-enter his holding room.
"Wait, Ted!" exclaim Hazal. "I need to talk to you!"
"You didn't manage to bring my family here, don't expect me to talk to you!" Ted stepped his foot toward the connecting door.
"You call them family? Where you been all this time, huh?" sindir Hazal who provoked the anger of Ted Baxter, made the bald man turn his face to look at Hazal.
"Don't lecture me, princess Danner!" yelled Ted Baxter while pointing his index finger at Hazal's face.
"I can't bring them here, because your own wife refuses to see you. But I can help you get out of here, so you can regroup with your family."
"Bet me free? I killed your parents! And now you're offering me freedom? You are so funny...! Who are you, huh?" teasing Ted Baxter.
Hazal tried to control himself, he took one step closer to Ted Baxter and said, "I'm a young prosecutor. I thought my target for revenge was you, but it turns out I was wrong, you're just that guy's tool. I'll help you, if you want to cooperate with me. Tell me who told you to?"
Ted Baxter only thought of Hazal's words as the wind, then turned his back and walked toward the doorway laughing, "Until death, I'll never tell you!"
Hazal clenched his palms together, furious that he replied to Ted Baxter, "So you'd rather protect that person than protect your own family?"
Hazal shook his head, he did not understand the mind of this criminal.
"Okay.., if that's your choice, I have no choice but to demand the death penalty for you!" exclaim Hazal.
Ted Baxter halted his steps within seconds, glancing at Hazal's bead eyes, then he asked the prison warden to escort him back to his cell.
"Ted, wait...!" Hazal immediately chased the man, but police officers did not give him permission to go inside.
