Hazal's thumb was just busy pressing and releasing a black pen base given by Kenan. His eyes were blank looking at the slender thing that could spit out ink. Sometimes his thumb presses the small button on the body of the black object. Aaron's voice was there.
For several days since Kenan's death, that's what Hazal did. Locking himself inside the room and withdrawing himself from the human world. Only his current room space was what he considered his world.
Japheth and his adoptive parents try to knock and talk to him, but Hazal seems to be trying to punish himself for Kenan's death. The woman had never opened her bedroom door since she returned home from the funeral.
Three times a day Meral lays a tray of food and drink for Hazal, but it all ends sadly. Sometimes Hazal misses her meal, sometimes she only eats a few mouthfuls and doesn't really run out.
"Hazal, please open the door. Mom and Dad are worried about you. Are you all right?" japheth asked the man at the door of Hazal's room. If the man did not go to the office, he could knock on the door almost every hour.
"At least say something, Hazal. Okay. I understand you are still sad, but tell me that inside you are fine" Japheth pleaded with a soft voice. He clenched his hands in front of the wooden door.
Inside the room, with her eyes blank, Hazal sat on the floor and placed her head on a pillow. Kenan's gift pen that always accompanies him at this time. He pressed and removed the base of the pen repeatedly, causing a sound.
It is not that Japheth gave up on knowing Hazal's situation. He knew that the woman was not okay. He did not want Hazal to bear his grief alone.
Japheth tried to jump over the balcony of his house, then walked through the wall road that jutted forward, which was only as wide as his shoes. He walked slowly pasting himself on the outside wall of the house. It only takes a few steps to reach the balcony of Hazal's room. Now his hand had touched the balcony railing, and a good leap he made to enter the outside of the woman's room.
Japheth opened the glass door that connected him to Hazal's room. But shit, Hazal locked that door, too. The glass door was closed with a curtain inside.
"Hazal...!" japheth cried out while knocking on the door repeatedly.
He tried to find the door and window gaps, there may be an open angle that can make him see the situation inside. Sure enough, he saw a glimmer of hope.
"Hazal...!" japheth choked after he saw the woman lying on the floor with a movement of hair covering her face. Panic began to cloud his heart and mind.
Japheth tried to turn the glass door handle, but to no avail. Finally he used his crude way, by breaking down the door.
He immediately ran over to Hazal, who was lying down, carrying the woman's body, and placed her on the bed. He repeatedly patted Hazal on the cheek slowly, but there was no reaction. The brown eye bead was hiding behind his eyelids. He held the pulse of Hazal's tone, still felt.
Without thinking, he immediately contacted his family doctor to come to his house. Hazal's forehead felt feverish, he immediately picked up a wet towel and compressed the woman's forehead.
Why are you being like this, Hazal? Has Kenan really entered your heart? Don't torture yourself like this....
"Doctor?" asked Meral who was surprised to see her family doctor come into the house. He felt he didn't call her.
"Japheth called me, Meral," replied the Doctor who understood the meaning of this hostess' question.
Meral added scrunched his forehead once he knew that Japheth was the one who contacted the doctor. Although still shocked, Meral took the doctor upstairs. During the climb up the stairs, his heart was a little agitated.
Could something happen to Hazal?
Japheth was waiting for the doctor to arrive in front of Hazal's room. He allowed the doctor to check the condition of his adoptive sister.
"What happened to Hazal? Why did you call the doctor?" Meral went into Hazal's room with questions she asked her son.
"He has a fever." A short answer that made Meral's eyes widen.
"He had a fever and a bit of depression" the doctor said after checking Hazal's condition and giving Meral fever and sedatives.
"Depression?" meral and Japheth asked together.
"It hasn't gotten to a serious stage yet" the doctor said with a smile. "Hazal just needs to calm himself down, reassure him that you are with him. Maybe the death of her late husband weighed on her mind."
Meral and Japheth confirmed the doctor's words.
Meral's efforts were able to make Hazal open her eyelids. His eyes began to look around him slowly. He saw his adoptive mother beside him and Japheth had just entered his room.
"A...What happened? Ke...why are you in my room?" Hazal's voice sounded very weak.
"You locked yourself in for a few days, and I just saw you fall unconscious on the floor. The doctor has just finished examining you" said Japheth, sitting at Hazal's feet.
Hazal straightened his body, but he felt his head feel heavy.
"Lay down, I'll make you some porridge. You never finish your food, baby," said Meral, holding Hazal's arm and laying her daughter back down. He went to the kitchen and left Hazal with Japheth.
"Where's the pen?" asked Hazal who was fumbling beside her bed.
"Pens?" Japheth tried to circulate his gaze looking for what Hazal meant.
"Yes. Black pen with a little gold stripe decoration. Where's the pen?" hazal asked as he squinted his eyes at Japheth.
Japheth stood up and squatted down to look for something on the floor. He turned on his cell phone flashlight and saw it lying under the bed.
"Is this what you mean?" japheth asked, giving the pen to Hazal.
Hazal nodded his head and took the pen from Japheth's hand.
"Go!" he exclaimed Hazal as he played Kenan's gift back and turned his back on the man. "I want to be alone."
"I won't leave until you finish your meal and take your medicine" said Japheth, who sits beside Hazal's head.
Hazal.
Japheth stretched out his hand, wanting to stroke Hazal's hair and wipe her back, but somehow there seemed to be an invisible wall restricting them. He pulled his hand back.
Shortly after, Meral arrives with a bowl of porridge and medicines for Hazal.
"Hazal, the porridge is ready" said Meral, who placed the bowl on the table. He began to pat Hazal on the back.
Hazal slowly sat himself down and leaned against his pillow. Japheth took the bowl of porridge from the table and wanted to feed Hazal.
"Give me the spoon, I'll eat it myself" Hazal said coldly.
Japheth finally gave the spoon to Hazal. The woman ate the hot porridge slowly. Japheth and Meral were watching every porridge that went into Hazal's mouth.
After taking the medicine, Hazal lies down again. He turned back to Japheth without speaking to the man.
As promised, Japheth came out of Hazal's room. He stared at the back of the woman he loved until the wooden door was closed.
What's wrong with you? We are both strangers. Did you build a wall between us?
The Emir's son was completely confused by Hazal's attitude. There was nothing Hazal had hidden from her. But not for today, after Kenan died. Looks like Kenan has taken away some of Hazal's heart.
