After they finish cleaning up the mess of their pillow fight, Hazal goes to her own room. Japheth cleansed himself in the bathroom. Thirty minutes later, they had met at the end of the stairs in his house.
"Did you go to the prosecutor's office today?" japheth asked, seeing that Hazal was wearing his formal clothes, and gave him a way to get Hazal down first.
"Yes" replied Hazal as he climbed down the steps one by one. Followed by the footsteps of Japheth who was behind him.
After arriving at the bottom floor, the two of them immediately headed to the dining room. In the dining room Emir and Meral were already waiting for their arrival to do breakfast together. As usual, Japheth sat beside Hazal.
"For Father..mom's morning," they said at the same time.
"Today you're so neat, son?" ask the Emir to Hazal.
"Dad, today I will enroll myself in the Prosecutor's office" Hazal replied as she took a sandwich and fried chicken for Japheth and for herself. The Emir and Meral noticed Hazal's attitude towards Japheth.
"Hopefully your day is lucky, baby. I've noticed since yesterday, you've always had food for Japheth. Dad wants to too. Put the sandwich and the fried chicken on Dad's plate" the Emir said, handing over the plate to Hazal.
"Are you jealous, seeing Hazal paying more attention to me? I can ask you to get me your favorite fried chicken" said Yafet. The Emir was misbehaved by his son's words, and he immediately pulled back his plate and gave it to his wife. The two women in the dining room seemed to laugh at the behavior of these two men. Then Hazal stood up from his dining chair and took the sandwich and fried chicken for his father.
"Thank you, dear," said the Emir who seemed happy to be noticed by his daughter. "Look at my daughter who still cares about me." The other three just shook their heads at the Emir's behavior, and resumed their breakfast.
At 08:00 a.m., the two young men said goodbye and kissed their parents on both cheeks. They walked out through the big door of the house, and suddenly Hazal stopped his steps and pulled Japheth's arm.
"Well, looks like you haven't worn your tie today?" Japheth saw himself, but Hazal's question was correct. Soon he ran into his room and grabbed his tie, then he ran out to meet Hazal who was about to open his car door. Japheth's hand blocked the door of the car from opening.
"I'll drive you."
"You can be late, if you have to take me. We're not in the same direction anyway."
"Who dares to fire me if I'm late?" japheth asked, twitching his forehead.
"Dad," Hazal replied with a laugh and pointed to her father who was inside the house. Hazal took the tie that was in Japheth's hand and immediately put the tie on the collar of her lover's shirt. Their eyes clashed with each other at a very close distance.
Suddenly Japheth's hands held Hazal's face, the eagle's eyes staring at Hazal's bead, "Didn't you want me to take you?"
"Darling, I can go alone. Later in the day I'd like to take you to lunch together, do you have time?" ask Hazal who finished putting on the Japheth tie.
"Well, I'll wait for you at the office. Be careful on the road" Japheth said, kissing Hazal's forehead and lips. Japheth opened the door of Hazal's car and told her lover to get into the car. Then he walked into his own car.
Without them noticing, Meral noticed them from inside the house. The middle-aged woman was very surprised to see the attitude of her two children. He sat on the living room sofa. "What did I just see? They kiss each other? The look in both of their eyes?"
Meral massaged her forehead, her face looking pale. He walked slowly to his room. She saw her husband reading the newspaper in the living room, at least he could smile and her husband did not see what he had just seen.
Inside the room, Meral took a photo album from inside the closet. Childhood photo of Japheth. From Japheth was born until Japheth was ten years old. That's when his son met Hazal. He was still looking at his little son who was now growing into a man.
"Now I understand, son. Why haven't you introduced your girlfriend to Mom and Dad. It turns out the woman you've loved all along is Hazal. All this time you've been trying to hide your relationship from us. I should have realized all this a long time ago."
Meral closed her eyes, her tears flowing from her eyes. She imagined how her husband would react if her husband knew that their two children loved each other. She recalled her husband's threats a few years ago, when Japheth would return to New York after Hazal's birthday. Her husband will separate them.
When Meral heard the handle of her bedroom door move down, she immediately wiped away the tears that had soaked her cheeks and hid Japheth's photo album under her pillow. Her husband went into the room, and approached Meral.
"What's wrong? You seem a little unwell?" the Emir kissed the top of his wife's head.
"It's just an ordinary headache" Meral replied as she held her temple.
"I'll call the doctor, get him to check on you." The Emir was about to press a few buttons on his phone.
"No need, baby. I'll sleep for a while, I'll probably get better by noon." Meral's palm closed the screen of her husband's phone.
"Well, I'll tell Nuran to take care of you. This morning I'm going to the Event Organizer's office to talk about the company's anniversary, if there's anything you need call me right away," said the Emir who kissed Meral and rubbed his wife's hair gently. Soon the Emir gets ready and calls Hazal's private driver who is now his personal driver who always delivers him wherever he goes.
Tok..tok.tok.tok a knock on the door of the room Meral.
"Come in" replied Meral who was lying on her bed. The door of the room was opened from the outside, he saw Nuran who entered the room and brought a tray containing a cup made of orange ceramic.
"Madam, Mr. Emir told me to make your favorite ginger tea Madam," said Nuran who approached Meral.
"Just put it on the table" said Meral and saw Nuran putting the ceramic cup on the table near his bed.
"Have my husband left?" ask Meral.
"Yes, Madam."
"Sit here" said Meral, patting his bed. Nuran hesitated a little to sit on her master's bed. But Meral pulled his hand and made Ted Baxter's wife sit in front of him. He put the tray next to his body.
"How long have you been working in this house?" asked Meral gently while picking up the cup that was nearby.
"About five years, ma'am." Nuran folded her hands over the clothes covering her thighs.
"Are you happy working in my house?" asked Meral then he blew on the still hot ginger tea.
"Yes, Madam. I am very happy to work here. The madam and the others treated me very well," Nuran said as she lowered her head.
"Do you know that one of my children is not my son? meral asked, and then she drank some ginger tea from Nuran and put the cup back on the table.
"Yes, Madam. Japheth said that he was the adopted son of the Lord and Lady, while Hazal was the son of the Aksal family. But. forgive me if I'm presumptuous, madam. It seems that the Madam's biological son is Lord Japheth. Once again forgive me," Nuran said as she lowered her head.
"Why do you think that?" Meral straightened her body and fixed her pillow.
"That time when Mr. Japheth introduced Miss Hazal to me, I felt...." Nuran was silent not continuing her words.
"What do you feel? Just saying?" Meral touched both hands of Nuran.
"I feel like Miss Hazal's face doesn't look like Mr and Mrs at all. I'm sorry Madam, if I'm wrong to say." Nuran's body trembled in fear.
Meral touched Nuran's shoulder, and approached her servant and said, "What you say is true, perhaps Japheth lied to you, to protect Hazal. Actually our foster son is Hazal. Both his parents died because your husband killed him, he survived because his birth mother protected him. The murder took place when the child was about five years old, and my husband adopted him and gave Aksal his surname to protect him. No one knows Hazal's identity other than my family and you, not even the servants of this house. All they know is that Hazal is the son of my husband's distant relative."
"But why did the Madam tell me this?" Nuran did not understand the meaning of her master.
"My son trusts you, and when you're the wife of a murderer, he tells you to live and work here. I only trust my conscience, that you are a good man, unlike your husband. I just want to find a interlocutor I can trust inside this house," said Meral holding Nuran's shoulder.
Nuran and Meral were both silent. The Emir's wife looked at the cupboard in front of her, and exhaled deeply. Meral recounts the childhood of Japheth and Hazal, until they were reunited after they had been separated for a dozen years.
"Today, I saw my two children kissing each other right in front of my eyes, the look in their eyes was not the gaze of my sister, but it was the eyes of a couple who were in love. Hazal is Japheth's lover, they seem to love each other" sobbed Meral with her trembling voice.
Nuran tried to appease her master then the maid said, "But it is not the mistress' fault, they are not blood, it is not their fault if they love each other."
"I know, if Hazal's parents were alive, I would have very much married Japheth to Hazal. I also love Hazal. But the reality is different now. If my husband finds out about this, he'll separate them. And you know Nuran? How will the hearts of my two children will be destroyed" said Meral who was still crying. Nuran hugged Meral's body and rubbed her employer's back.
"What should I do, Nuran? What's?" Meral was still crying on Nuran's shoulder.
"Calm down, madam... Perhaps it is better, Madam did not tell this to Master. Suppose the Madam knows nothing of Lord Japheth and Miss Hazal, and I will lock my mouth, Madam." Nuran moved her hand forming a locking motion in front of her mouth. The words of Nuran were a bit of a relief for Meral's heart.
"You're right, Nuran. When Ted Baxter was caught and punished, there was no threat to Hazal's life, so Japheth and Hazal had no need to hide their relationship, and they were going to get married." Meral immediately wiped away her tears, then the woman held onto Nuran's wrist.
"Please promise me you'll keep this a secret from anyone. Hazal's identity and the feelings of my two children" asked Meral to Nuran.
"I promise you, Madam. I swear on the life of my son Ali" said Nuran, who lifted his palm up.
