The Confession of Ted Baxter

Not yet had Japheth continue his words, suddenly Meral came and opened the door of the ICU room. Just today, Meral was able to see Hazal's condition, after her blood pressure results showed a normal number. Japheth and the Emir gave Meral an empty seat to sit beside Hazal's bed, while the two men went and waited outside the ICU room.

Meral landed her body in a wooden chair beside Hazal's bed, in her hands the daughter's delicate hand. Meral noticed the golden ring that coiled around Hazal's ring finger then she said, "A very beautiful ring. So pretty when you wear it. Is this ring Japheth gave you?"

Hazal did not respond to anything. Seeing that, Meral became even more sad. He kissed Hazal's back. "Did you hear me, son? Did you forget the way back to your house? Is the world there so beautiful? So that you feel at home for a long time there," said Meral as she shed her tears wetting the back of Hazal's hand.

"Wake up my beautiful daughter. Wake up from your long sleep. Look at your prince, waiting for you day and night. Whispering a hope to you. He's waiting for you, son. Your prince loves you so much, I can feel that. I know the feeling of love you feel is huge. Wake up my daughter, not for your old mother. But for Japheth's sake, meet him.... Only you can give him strength" soaked Meral's hands and face.

When Meral put Hazal's hand on her cheek, Hazal's other fingers began to move slowly. His index finger is moving. Meral rubbed her two teary eyes, "Is this a dream? His hand moved," said Meral who seemed to be in disbelief with his vision.

"Hazal, did you hear Mom's words?" meral asked who was speaking in front of Hazal's ears. The crystal clear liquid flowed from Hazal's closed eyelids.

"You hear mom, honey?" isak Meral repeated his question. Hazal responds to Meral's words. Although he had yet to open his eyelids, but his fingers started to move, giving an answer.

"Oh my God, this is truly a miracle," cried Meral closing her palms in front of her mouth. Soon Hazal's adoptive mother presses the emergency button near Hazal's bed, and she goes out to call her husband and son.

The two men had not yet entered Hazal's room, and suddenly the doctor and two sisters came rushing inside.

"The hazal...Doc, his hand." said Meral who could not continue his words. The doctor and nurse were beside Hazal.

"What's wrong with Hazal?" yafet and Emir asked simultaneously shaking Meral's body. The two men were afraid that Hazal would leave them forever.

Meral regulated her breathing, she began to be able to control herself. "Hazal's hand moved, he cried doctor. He can listen to my voice" Meral explained to everyone.

The doctor immediately examined Hazal's condition, opened one of her eyelids and illuminated the brown bead with a flashlight. Everyone saw Hazal's fingers move back, this time not just his index finger, but his two fingers raised upwards.

Japheth, who had been standing by the door, immediately barged in and stood beside Hazal. He held Hazal's palm.

"Hazal, it's Japheth. I know you must have heard my voice. Wake up. Please don't keep sleeping like this. Wake up...." Japheth's voice reacted to Hazal.

"Keep talking to him, watch him respond to your words" said the doctor, who stood on the other side and saw Hazal's five fingers moving.

"Wake Hazal... Open your eyes.... Can you watch us constantly grieving? Don't you miss those two stars in the sky in our house?" Japheth's eyes began to glaze over, but he held back his feelings so that his tears would not spill. But no matter how much Japheth held back his feelings, the crystal liquid had fallen on Hazal's face. Not just once but many times, Japheth's tears washed over Hazal's face.

The two eyelids that had been closed for a long time, began to blink. The two lashes were about to wake up from his long sleep. Everyone who saw that let out a long sigh, grateful for the miracle that happened today. The brown eye bead seemed timidly showing itself, the eyelid was only half open.

Almost all his fingers moved, with a hoarse voice Hazal said, "Water...."

The doctor orders Hazal to drink water. Japheth immediately took a glass of water on the table and gave it to Hazal. Almost a full glass, the water went into Hazal's throat.

Now that Hazal's eyelids were completely wide open, the brown bead had shown itself. Both of her lashes were waving up and down. The doctor checked Hazal's condition.

"You're sober, Hazal." The doctor's words seemed to give the wind of heaven to the entire Aksal family. They are unceasingly grateful for the recovery of their daughter.

"I'm going to move you to the hospital room, you have to wait a few more days until I can remove the bandage on your head" said the doctor who then left the ICU room.

Hazal only smiled slightly, his body still feeling weak to respond to something.

Hazal looked at the rest of his family one by one. Meral and Emir stood on the left side, while Japheth stood on the right side.

"Have you forgotten about us, son?" meral asked while holding Hazal's hand which was still attached to the infusion needle.

"Of course I remember you guys. Fathering... Mothers... Japheth..," said Hazal quietly while looking at the good people who were always nearby.

The Police Station....

Meanwhile at the police station, Ted Baxter had obtained a lawyer from the Turkish Legal Aid Institute. With one leg and earlobe bandaged, the criminal limped off accompanied by a police officer to the interrogation room.

The police captain began his interrogation. Starting to inquire about the whereabouts of Ted Baxter the night Hazal's parents were killed, the criminal is not evasive as the Police Captain shows a picture of himself along with the late Max Walden at the scene.

"What are you doing there, Mr Ted?" ask the Police Captain who today is wearing his blue uniform vest.

"I'm just a foreign tourist on vacation. That's it," replied Ted Baxter lightly.

"You sure of what you said?" ask the Police Captain with a little emphasis.

"Yes, of course. I forgot what I was doing in the Alps. After all it was twenty years ago," explained Ted Baxter with his relaxed attitude leaning his body on the back of a chair with his hands cuffed back.

The Police Captain asked his men to turn on the tape of evidence of Ted Baxter's confession that was given by Japheth some time ago. "We'll see if you're going to dodge all this" said the Police Captain, who looked up at Ted Baxter.

The evidence of the recording was also played in the interrogation room, heard the voice of Ted's confession who was drunk from active speakers on the wall of the room.

"Suran... !!" yelled at the surprised Ted Baxter and shouted his wife's name. Ted Baxter's face looked extremely pale and his knees were trembling. His sins are beginning to break.

The two police officers continued to pay attention to every movement of Ted Baxter. The police captain was very sure that this man in front of him was the Danner family killer. But the evidence was denied by the lawyer.

"You can't use this tape, to establish that my client is guilty. There's not a single word my client said, that he killed the Danner family !!" the lawyer argued while pointing his index finger in front of the Captain's nose.

"Oh yeah? Why are you so sure that's Mr. Lawyer?" bait the Captain.

"Of course, you only have one of these pieces of evidence. This case can't go to trial, because of the lack of evidence you have, Captain. You can't hold my client off much longer. I'm asking you to release my client immediately and close the case !!" the lawyer shouted while commanding the Captain.

The Police Captain tapped his two fingers in front of his lips to think of his next move. There were expressions of anger on the faces of lawyer Ted Baxter and the criminal.

"What if an eyewitness saw the incident? I will present my main witness" said the Captain in a voice of emphasis and pressed his face in front of the two men sitting in front of him.

"Witnesses?" ask Ted a little nervously. "That's impossible !! No one saw the incident when I shot Madam and princess Danner there !!" ted Baxter's clumsily talking.

There was the sound of applause in the soundproof room. The captain was very happy.

"You have made your own confession, Mr. Ted Baxter," said the Captain with a laugh and ordered his men to immediately secure the evidence and confession of Ted Baxter.

Ted Baxter and the lawyer were stunned when they heard the Police Captain's words.

"Oh yes, one more thing, in this room is installed CCTV that has recorded your confession earlier, Mr. Ted Baxter," said the Captain who immediately left the room along with his men.

The lawyer was furious, seeing the stupidity done by Ted. " You've eaten the bait, Mr. Ted. There were no eyewitnesses he could bring. With your confession alone without any evidence, the judge can throw you in jail !!" shouted the lawyer who then left Ted.

Ted Baxter looked pensive with both hands holding both bars. He remembered the face of Madame Danner who begged him for mercy. But with the heart he killed the woman and her daughter. If it were not for his debt to Aaron Fallay, he would never have been willing to do the dirty work ordered by the psychopath.
