46. The 'Apesta'

[Author’s POV]

The girl fell down.

Tears flooded his cheeks.

He pressed his chest stronger, pain.

“Claire-“ said Jack, who was stopped by Valerie. Val shook his head slowly to Jack, ‘Do not disturb.’

Kim clenched his hand. His gaze was on Claire, he was weakening. As if he could feel his sadness as well, his heart had been melted.

Not getting there. Claire stood up, then walked back to the man.

His tears continued to flow nonstop, but not once did his eyes blink. Seeing that, Jack could not stay still anymore, he ignored Val and Rylan who blocked his path, the man ran over to Claire before he fell down again.

Jack gently embraced Claire's shoulder, then held the girl in his arms, making Claire immediately let out a cry that could not come out of her throat. The tears streaming down his cheeks soaked the man's shirt, but he didn't care. He stroked the girl's head gently. Not to calm her down, but to make her cry even harder, to let all her sadness out.

Secretly, Jack observed the bloodied man in front of him. He was wearing a white lab coat, but now it was blood red. His stomach was hollow, a stab scar, and if seen more observant again.The skin of the man's hands and feet was dirty, full of dust and dirt from the ground of this underground room. Moreover, from his body, this man looked skinny all of a sudden. Not really from before.

Jack concluded from his analysis that this man had been locked up here for two weeks. Less more. And most likely, it is very rarely fed.

He glanced at the name written on his lab coat.

Alan Clark's.

He is familiar with that name. Very familiar, as often heard somewhere.

And another one that stuck up his mind.

The body of the man named Alan Clark was holding something in his hand. Jack looked through the cracks of the man's finger, it was glowing. But it seemed, Claire and the others were unaware of that.

Still in the position of hugging Claire, Jack secretly tried to touch the man's corpse hand.

‘True. That thing is glowing.’

‘Even it was obvious that the object was glowing, but why did the others not realize this? They're like…. Can't see this thing.’ Jack said in his heart.

Just as she wanted to touch the thing, Claire suddenly took off her embrace. The girl screamed.

“A-FATHER... AWAKE UP! W-WHY... CAN YOU BE HERE?!… HIKSS...” Claire's cry grew more and more, making Jack cancel his intention to touch the object.

‘As long as no one can see it, it won't be taken by anyone, right?’

His focus returned to the girl next to him.

To be honest, Claire didn't understand why her father was here. And again.the situation until like this..

“ZAV!! PLEASE QUICKLY TAKE MY FATHER TO THE HOSPITAL!! D-DIA.. HIKS..” Her tears wet her entire face. Claire brought her ears closer to the chest of her father's corpse, looking for the sound of life from within. “... FAST ZAV...” Claire cries by attaching her ear to her father's chest, “.... my father.... can still be saved.. surely...

As Zav ran towards the man's corpse, he was stunned. His steps stopped, he nodded.

“Dia come.” He mumbled slowly, with a pale face.

The wooden door opened.

There was a honey-brown girl with a long waist, her manic was bright brown, she stared at Claire's bead in tears. The corners of his lips slowly lifted, he smiled.

“Hai guest.”

Claire looked at the woman blankly. Both of his shoulders squeezed, he could not believe what he was seeing.

“... Nancy?”

The woman chuckled softly, then she tilted her head to glance at the corpse of the man behind Jack. “Still crying for the old man, huh? Ah... It seems I came at an inopportune time.” Tidbits lightly. But somehow, his tone sounded condescending.

Claire's chest is back in pain. Although he did not understand anything, but he could assume a little, and that assumption...

“So, all this time you were... Apesta?” tanyanya. He clenched his hand, holding back his muran that wanted to explode.

Nancy walked towards Claire. Secretly, he felt Claire's telekinesis aura begin to burn. That opportunity will not be wasted.

Nancy grinned a little. Little by little, it was eaten.

Meanwhile, Jack's right and left arms have been held tightly by his friends. “Don't you dare separate them. I've always wanted to see Nancy's neck strangled like that.” Kimberly whispered to Jack.

Nancy moved her hand. From those two palms, the same dark red aura had come out. He pushed Claire with his telekinesis power all his might.

He got into Claire's mind.

“DISTANCE!!” she's controlling Claire's mind. Nancy smirked in satisfaction, she was sure she would definitely win.

Nancy's sneer faded. There must be something that dispels the power of his mind control.

“Can't you control his mind?” said Valerie entered Nancy's mind, “It is, there will be me. Did you forget?” val continued in Nancy's mind, making Nancy turn with a look of annoyance. Val reply with a grin.

Rylan chuckles loudly, “Okay. How embarrassing.”

Hearing that, Nancy bellowed in annoyance. Wrong, he had not even used all his strength. Nancy let go of the effort to enter Claire's mind that Val had driven away, she knew it was free.

Unexpectedly, Nancy disappears from Claire's tight grip, she teleports and moves behind Claire without her knowledge. Before his friends blocked him again, he drove the six of them with supersonic waves, causing them to fall in pain. Claire was shocked to see it all. He couldn't believe what he saw just now... Nancy has that much power?!

Seeing that, Nancy smiled triumphantly. Then he took out a dagger and stuck it on Claire's neck from behind her. It made blood flow from his neck.

The dagger was no ordinary dagger, it held back the power of the dagger with its telekinesis, so Claire could no longer get rid of the dagger with her telekinesis.

Nancy chuckled softly, “I attacked first. You can't avoid.”

Ruby, unaffected by Nancy's supersonic wave attack, quickly let out her supersonic waves right next to Nancy's ear. Making the girl fall over covered her ears tightly.

“AAAARGGGHHH!!!” He screams in pain.

Ruby gasped at Nancy's groan, taking a step back. His heart beat unbearably.

Although he had just managed to save Claire, but honestly, his entire body was terrified. “C-Claire.. Are you okay?!” he said as he approached Claire (protected behind Claire).

Claire ignored Ruby's question just now. He still cannot focus on the surrounding situation.

Claire looked at Nancy with a cruel look, her anger never subsided. He walked over to Nancy who was standing up slowly.
