In the end, Nick gave up. Together with Neil, they both flee the city heading south. Nick returns to the forest to head to another city controlled by the temple of God.
Nick relentlessly follows Neil who inexplicably insists on being by his side the whole time. Although Nick still feels unsure that he is the crown prince referred to by Neil, but in the end the young man just let the hitman think of him that way.
They continued to run away until they reached a wilderness located in a mountainous area. Neil invited them to rest first in a clearing close to a dry river. It was late and the two men had to fill their stomachs. A fat boar is captured by Neil. He roasted it on the fire while warming his body.
“What is the journey still long?” ask Nick later.
“Quite far. Maybe about seven more days we just get to the border of the city,” replied Neil while slicing a little cooked pork. “By the way you'll let him keep following us?” neil suddenly.
Nick immediately understood Neil's direction. Since leaving Linden city earlier they both immediately realized that there was a figure who was following. But because Nick or Neil also knew that the figure was not from the Duke knight, they just let it go. The stalker did not feel threatening either.
“Down. You need to eat after a day of walking so far,” Nick said without turning his head.
For a moment, there was no movement or sound. But exactly half a minute later, a dark-robed figure descended from the top of a tree not far from where Nick and Neil were resting.
The figure wore a shabby robe and walked barefoot. Even so, behind the shabby robe, hidden glowing skin and shiny silver hair with pointed ears. It was the elf who had escaped from the auction house!
“Sit down and eat,” said Nick repeating his order.
The elf woman hesitated towards the two men who had saved her. In the end he sat down with them and Neil immediately stretched out a piece of cooked pork. The elf immediately ate it slowly.
“Why are you following us? Don't you have any other destination?” ask Neil with his mouth full.
The elf girl did not reply and just continued to eat with her face covered in a cloak hood. Neil only let out a slow breath and let the elf eat quietly. The three of them were immersed in an awkward silence.
“Why save me?” Finally the elf girl opened her mouth. Neil looked at Nick immediately because the question was indeed aimed at the young man.
“I would have done the same if you weren't the one who got caught,” Nick replied indifferently.
The elf girl seemed to be dissatisfied. He looked at Nick with suspicion. “Lantas since the beginning why are you guys at the auction house?” continued
Nick snorted short. “If you don't like please go. Why follow us just to be annoying like that,” he said sharply.
The elven girl was silent. Finally he just continued his dinner, then fell asleep shortly after.
Nick took a long breath. This was his first time meeting the elves. According to Calada, the elves were a nation that rarely intersected with other races. They are dignified and tend to avoid conflict. Either there is a story behind the life of this efl girl to the point that she can be caught and sold in the slave market. Nick decides to just let the girl go as far as she doesn't bother anyone.
The next morning, Nick and Neil continue on. The unnamed elf girl followed silently. He walked behind the two men still without wearing any footwear. Nick glanced at the girl's feet that had been scratched here and there.
The young man then extended his hand to the elf girl. “I'll carry you,” said Nick without a specific intention.
The elves refused firmly. With a reddened face the girl exclaimed furiously. “Basic pervert! Are you looking for an opportunity because I'm weak? Don't fuck! Although my strength has not fully recovered but I am still an elf!” screech the girl while pointing in anger.
Nick just sighed lazily. His eyes glanced towards the elven girl's feet. “Your leg is injured. I'm just trying to help you keep the wound from getting worse. But it's up to you,” replied the young man then turned back around no matter what.
The girl's face turned red. Shamefully he also glanced at his bleeding feet. “A, I'm fine!” he continued to follow Nick and Neil.
However, the spirit did not seem to last long. After walking for some time, the girl began to slow down as she endured the pain. As a result, without asking again, Nick immediately took the initiative to just carry the girl.
The elf girl initially thrashed and refused. But in the end, he was in Nick's arms.
“What's your name?” ask Nick as he walks.
“Aerin,” replied the girl was short.
Nick looked at the elf girl while smiling wryly. “Nick,” answer later.
“In front there is a small river. We can treat his wound there,” Neil suggested later.
And sure enough, shortly after they walked, a small river flowed through the forest. Nick lowers Aerin on a large rock on the side of the river. While sitting on a rock, Aerin lets Nick wash his feet and begins to treat his injuries. Neil gave a roll of cloth to smash the girl's wound.
Nick took out a wound medicine concoction ointment that he had always brought with him just in case. The young man tenderly takes care of Aerin's wounds while Neil hunts for lunch. The elf girl observed Nick helping her sincerely. His heart was moved to open up.
“They kidnapped me when I was outside the borders of the elves,” said Aerin began his story. Nick listened carefully as he continued to smash the wound on Aerin's leg carefully.
“I want to explore this world, see other amazing cities outside the elves tribe. But those people, those humans tricked me,” he continued furiously.
