The River House

The River House
XXXVII. Erwin's Regret

His hands were covered in a thick red liquid that was beginning to dry up. Soaking the hand in water, swabbing it with all his might, hoping that the red color quickly dissolves and disappears. The rancid and fishy aroma pierced the sense of smell, while tears kept dripping down the cheeks.

Erwin sobbing. He was washing his hands in the clear stream of river water. He did not expect at all, the course of his life changed drastically in a period of no more than 3 days.

The sun began to rise to the southwest. The area that is blocked by dense trees looks more gloomy, minimal lighting. So is Erwin's seat this time. Behind a boulder, he gathered and dipped his hand in the water.

After a while, his hands finally looked clean. But the smell of the water is still not completely gone. Erwin rubbed his hands roughly. The rancid aroma did not go away, even his arm was scratched as a result of Erwin rubbing it too hard.

Erwin took off his shirt. Even though the shirt looked clean, Erwin still dipped it into the river water. He felt disgusted at his own body. He felt dirty, covered in the blood of his loved ones.

While crying, Erwin leaned back on the large rock behind him. He remembered his past life. His memory is dragged on by a life that has been passed. A boy born into a poor family.

Erwin and Ferry have a blood bond from their father. Erwin's father was the younger brother of Ferry's father. Their family is notoriously troubled and in debt. At its peak, Erwin's father and Ferry's father disappeared after a problem with a loan shark in the area where he lives.

Little Erwin was eventually raised by the Ferry family. Groomed and raised by Bu Rofida wholeheartedly. Such is the human being, as bad as Bu Rofida is, that woman has a genuine affection for Erwin. Although bloodily, they were not directly related, but Bu Rofida accepted Erwin as her own niece even as her own son. There was no difference in treatment between Ferry, Vivi, nor Erwin.

Erwin was well aware that Ferry never accepted his presence. Ferry could never have liked Erwin. Erwin knows why. That's because Ferry never liked his own father. His resentment of his father made Ferry hold a grudge against all of his father's siblings and bloodlines.

Although the hatred was never extinguished, in fact Ferry still met all the material needs of Erwin. Cages, food, boards, vehicles, educational facilities, nothing is left unturned. Ferry endured it all, selflessly.

In his heart, Erwin had vowed to repay all the kindness of the Lawanto Ferry family. To him, as bad as bad as humans are individuals who do not know the return of the favor. Living only once, Erwin did not want any regrets at the end of his life later.

The determination to return the favor was what made Erwin act recklessly. She felt the need to harm Inge, her own lover. What Inge knew and wanted to tell Anggun was something dangerous and fatal for Ferry Lawanto's extended family.

Erwin attacks Inge with a knife he finds on the dining room table. He did it spontaneously without preparation. Twice the attack hit Inge's stomach. Erwin doesn't know if Inge survived.

Now, Erwin could only cry. His heart was broken, seeing the woman he loved had to die in his hands. Some of his heart blamed the decision he had made. Should it be like that? Is there no other way?

Inge was Erwin's first female. Erwin had never been in a relationship with any woman before. Not that Erwin didn't sell. Many are approaching, but Erwin has promised in his heart will not take advantage of the facilities of Ferry Lawanto except for his future.

Inge arrived when Erwin's study was over. The woman came and approached him, with all the charm, the coquettish and spoiled that Erwin liked. God grew that feeling yesterday, but today it turns to sorrow.

Erwin no longer knew what to do. His eyes were puffy, his arms were full of scratches because they were constantly rubbed rough. The long-haired man finally moved from his seat. Slowly he walked down the river. I don't know where the destination is.

Meanwhile, Vivi who came out of the room and was about to go to the kitchen found someone lying covered in blood. A woman in a prone position is at the bottom of the stairs.

A small knife was not far away. Vivi screamed loudly. All the inhabitants of the house came, seeing what had happened.

On orders from Bayu, Damar immediately checked the condition of Inge's body. As usual, the officer looked deft, cold and expressionless. It was as if the corpse of a human was just a statue of a mannequin to him.

Bu Rofida hugged Vivi tightly. Her daughter's hands were trembling. The fear of attacking his mentality was tubed.

"We're going back to town! We're going home now!" Vivi raved in the arms of her mother.

"Silence, baby, calm down. Let the police officers work," Ms. Rofida stroked Vivi's back. Trying to calm the other girl.

Mr. Nyoto just stood down. He did not dare to pay attention to Inge's figure who was already a corpse. His heart still continued to believe that the wilderness guard had done all this.

From the top floor, Ferry can be seen embracing his wife. They walked down the stairs slowly.

"What's this?" ask Anggun lirih. His head felt dizzy and throbbing.

"Inge Nggun," Vita replied, pointing to the body being examined by Damar. Vita's tears spilled unstoppably.

"God! Who could do all this?" Gracefully closed her mouth using the palm of her hand. Ferry is getting closer to embrace Anggun. Worried that his wife was not mentally strong and fell unconscious.

"Madam, this land must be cursed! This horrible death is not a human being!" Mr. Nyoto arrived just saying. His heart was heartbroken, imagined the safety of his wife's child.

"Byok go home to the city, ayookkk!" Vivi was screaming hysterically.

"Where's Erwin?" Vita panicked. He just remembered, Erwin was with Inge in the living room. But now the man does not see the trunk of his nose.

The mood started to get chaotic. Everyone has their own power. Seeing some horrible deaths in the near future actually makes everyone mentally disturbed.

"I hope everything is calm!" bentak Bayu's. His voice was calm but full of emphasis.

As if hypnotized, everyone was silent according to.

"Let Damar work quietly, to be more focused," continued Bayu while circulating his gaze. He noticed every detail of Inge's corpse and the surrounding area.

"We'll wait for Damar's results. After that we move the bodies and all without exception, gathered in the living room," ordered Bayu, pay attention to one by one the faces of the inhabitants of the riverside house, the new home of the Lawanto Ferry family.
