The Red Game's

The Red Game's
Chapter 8 part 3

Those who followed the strategy meeting this time started to leave the room. I remained motionless from where I stood and looked only at those who left one by one until finally only me and Cresh remained. Seeing that I approached and sat down in the chair opposite Cresh's desk. He seemed to be agitated at the thought of something.

“If you want to be angry now is the time.” I told him.

I knew he would hate me so much for proposing such a strategy. He really did not want to see any casualties in this war. But a war without casualties is impossible to achieve.

“Hah.., what to scold. War is a cruel thing. So what to do.” Cresh said in a flat tone while staring at the table blankly.

From his style of speech, he has resigned to the current situation. He was too good to be able to do anything now. Cresh is still unchanged.

“Do anything for the sake of victory, because then you will get pleasure.”

“Eh?” Cresh was surprised and raised his head to look at me.

“True slogan that makes nostalgia yes, Cresh Vallencius.”

“D-Where did you hear that slogan?”

“What kind of ridiculous question is that. Isn't it clear that I heard it in a very familiar place for us.”

“S-Who are you really? Are you Klaurius Kei? Or Luchifer? Or anything else.”

“I didn't think you'd forget me. You used to have only a few close friends. Ah really disappointing.”

“Could you be Ravel?”

“Once, I don't want to reveal my true identity right now. But clearly, you must exert all your strength during the war. And of course you have to order the BlackList members based in the city of Fluch to help.”

“How can you know?”

He didn't seem to want to cover it up because he thought I would be able to uncover the truth.

“I've known since Vany attacked me that night.”

I got out of my chair and went out leaving Cresh alone. Right now he must be confused thinking about my true identity. Am I Klaurius Kei? Or Luchifer? Or maybe Ravel? One day I will reveal. But for now I will only use my fake identity.

After I came out of the room, I saw Vany leaning against the door. Judging from the situation, it was likely that he was waiting for someone. I kept walking straight without caring. A few steps ahead of me was a crossroads. Without a doubt I turned right because there is a staircase connecting the 2nd floor with the 3rd floor.

One by one the stairs reached the 3rd floor. Not satisfied with just climbing up to the 3rd floor, I continued to climb until finally reached the roof of the building which is the 10th floor. The view from up here is quite beautiful accompanied by a cooling breeze.

I stood on the roof of the building enjoying the view. What I'm seeing right now is a deserted street and a house without inhabitants. But a scene like this is coming to an end. If the war has already started, I firmly believe this city will be flooded with blood just like 1 year ago.

Thinking about what happened 1 year ago made me feel a little upset. This is not because I feel sorry for this city, but because I had a bad incident at that time. An incident that became my trigger for planning a war this time. My goal in sparking this war is to make some people feel what I feel. Because they are the ones who caused the bad thing.

Moments later, I turned around and started walking towards the exit. When I opened the door, I saw Vany right in front of me.

“What do you need with me?” ask him while closing the door.

“Nothing. I'm just looking for the wind on the roof of this building.” Answer, “You yourself, what are you doing here?”

“Before I had thought of suicide, but fear made me not dare to do it.”

Vany firmly denied my answer by saying, “That's a joke.”

I thought he would laugh hearing it, but the opposite happened. I don't seem to be talented at making jokes.

“Wait!” vany exclaimed and stopped my steps by pulling my right hand.

“I thought you wanted to find the wind to calm your mind.”

“I'll go straight to the core only.” his tone turned serious, “Do you plan to destroy the country of Alastein?”

“Did Cresh tell you my plans?”

“You don't need to know where I heard it. But clearly you have to tell me about your true purpose.”

“If you are willing to pay it at the right price, I am willing to tell you.”

“What do you want?”

It seems that he was not rash to accept my offer. Then let's think about what's worth exchanging for my purposes.

“The payment is your life.”

“What?”

Obviously he would be surprised when he heard it, but that was the only payment I thought was enough. Because the one who knows my true purpose must die so as not to become a hindrance.

“If you don't want then I'll go.”

“No.., wait a minute.”

Again he stopped me. Did he intend to die just to find out my plan. This is so ridiculous.

“Is there nothing other than my life?” continued.

Hm.., so he really intends to know my purpose. It seems like I have to say it, otherwise he would definitely be very suspicious of me.

“Alright, I will tell you my purpose if you promise not to interfere with the plan I have made to attack the ruler.”

“Ok, I promise.”

“Actually I don't care about Alastein's country, my only goal is to defeat the ruler. You may think this is ridiculous, but I think by defeating the ruler I can eliminate this discrimination. Therefore I do not intend to lose this war, even though the country of Alastein must be destroyed.”

“Don't if the country of Alastein destroyed our struggle will be in vain?”

“If the country of Alastein is destroyed we can establish a new country better. Don't you think so.”

“I didn't expect someone like you to have such a purpose. But why did you consider your goal to be on par with my life in the beginning?”

It's troublesome, I didn't expect him to ask that. I had to try a little to fool him.

“I was just thinking of making you my assistant for life. I didn't expect you wouldn't be aware of that implied message.”

“Oh it turns out so yes. I thought you were gonna kill me.”

“Where might I do that. Then I'll go.”

“Ya.” Vany answered while letting go of her hand.

Phew.., I finally got away with it. I was lucky to think of a good reason to make him believe. It turns out that it is very difficult to make a clever person a pawn. Fortunately he had promised that he would not interfere with my plans, otherwise he would definitely cause me trouble.
