The First Night of Cana (Angel Without Wings)

As Kana said, it was not easy to face her parents. Evidently upon seeing Joddy drive Kana home, Gufron had confronted him at the door of Kana's house with a fierce face without a smile, giving the impression of cold and haughty gave a sign that the middle-aged man did not like the existence of Joddy.

"Good afternoon, Om," said Joddy with a sweet smile.

Gufron looked cynically at Joddy and then at Kana.

"Lake in!" his orders to his beloved daughter.

Kana nodded then looked towards Joddy, smiled and said a word of 'excitement' without a sound before entering the house.

Cana frowned in astonishment as soon as she entered the house and found Kanda and Nea who were peeking while whispering until they were unaware of Cana's presence. Mbok Dar who was fanning Ken who fell asleep on the sofa giggled amusedly to see the behavior of the newlyweds.

"What are you doing?"

Kanda and Nea almost toppled over from the sofa where they peeked as soon as Kana greeted. The two smiled awkwardly then sat back quietly on the sofa. The sight of the two suddenly led to the door. As Gufron walks into the house with Joddy walking behind him.

"Mbok, please move Ken to his room." Gufron asks Mbok Dar who then rushes to take Ken's small body away from the living room. Kanda and Nea decided to sit on the carpet.

"You have 10 minutes to talk." Gufron stared intently at Joddy who chose to sit in the place Kanda had originally occupied.

"You're sitting, too, Na." In a soft voice Gufron told the beloved princess to sit down. Kana nodded then chose to sit next to Joddy.

"Sit beside Papa!"

Kana didn't land her butt on Joddy's side when she heard a little loud noise from Gufron . She sat down next to Maya, her mother. Kanda giggled amusedly to see the face of Joddy who had been happy to be grim because he did not sit next to his lover .

"So, you've been seeing Kana all this time in Jogja? Even stay?" Gufron stared in annoyance at Joddy.

"I'm sorry, Om. I was wrong, but I can't be far from Kana." Joddy looked at Kana who was also staring at the two of them and then exchanged smiles. Unfortunately, Kana's smile faded as soon as Gufron glanced at her sharply.

"I've heard about everything that's happened to your family." Gufron then laughed sarcastically.

"Still vividly remembered how your mother and your fiancee-"

"Former, Om," interrupted Joddy quickly, he would not be willing to be Medusa's fiancee.

"Whatever it is called, it is certainly their humiliation I still remember. We took care of Kana affectionately never once did we snap at her. But your mother who is a nobody, dared to hurt our son who just hurt us, his parents. " Gufron's eyes glazed over as he said so, making Kana clasped the middle-aged man's hands to strengthen him.

"But who would have thought it was even your parents whose actions were more despicable than my son. There's no need for me to remind you what happened to your parents, right?" Gufron's onslaught hurt Joddy's self-esteem a little, but it didn't matter if it could get him Gufron's apology and blessing.

" I know, Om. I'm sorry for what happened to Kana. I know it's hard to forgive me and my parents. But please give me a chance to make amends."

Gufron laughed offingly. "A chance like what you asked for. I've already given you a chance but you're wasted. Never mind, let Kana and her children be happy without you."

Gufron's still trying to stop Joddy. The bespectacled man looked at Kana who was looking down with her fingers interlocked. Obviously the woman wanted to argue but was unable to because of her guilt.

"You think I care? Sorry, after everything that was done to my daughter, since then I lost 🍴 respect to your parents."Gufron's sharp words represented all his heartache and Joddy could not refute it.

" Pa, just give Joddy one chance. He has always guarded the heart for Cana. Kanda is confident he can take good care of Kana and Ken. After all, everyone has mistakes in the past and they can't be changed." Kanda the newlywed who had been sitting quietly watching finally started to make a sound.

Gufron did not respond to Kanda's words . Give this kid another chance? Please dream!

" There's nothing better to look after Kana and Ken than the late Adrian."

Calm but really that sentence hurt Joddy's self-esteem. He compared to his own best friend? And that man is dead.

"That's for sure, sir. I can't compare to the deceased. But I'm sure, I can carry on the duty of the deceased to take better care of Kana and Ken." Don't think with just those words Joddy would back off. Wrong big.

Gufron smiled disdainfully then folded his hands in front of his chest."Better better? Sure you're not like your father? As we know, the fruit falls not far from the tree, right?"

Joddy clenched both his hands on his knees. All these years he's been keeping a heart for his daughter is still doubtful of his loyalty?

"I make sure my tree is on the bank of the river Om, so that when the fruit falls, it will be carried away by the river." The whole room was stunned to hear Joddy's reply.

Gufron was immediately silent and so was Maya but different from Kanda clapping."I love your style, Bro!" Kanda instantly shut his mouth as Gufron glanced at him sharply.

"Let's have a chance, Pa. It seems like these two children are indeed difficult to separate," whispered Maya but still faintly heard in the ears of the entire room.

Joddy slightly breathed a sigh of relief, Kana's mother seemed to have started to side with him.

"Don't feel over the wind just yet. It wasn't easy to gain my trust after what Kana experienced." Gufron was apparently not affected at all by his wife's sweet whispers.

"But let's see how far you've proven and convinced that you deserve to be Kana's husband."

Joddy stared at Gufron full of twinkle. That means Gufron gave her a chance. He has to fight even harder and show he deserves to be his son-in-law.

"Originally you know many of my colleagues who are interested in making their daughter-in-law Kana willing to accept Cana with all its shortcomings. So, your failure has no effect on Kana."

Joddy glanced at his future in-laws annoyed. Mean what? He wants to drop Joddy mentally, to give up and stop chasing Kana? It won't!

" Okay, your time's up. Please get out of here, "go Gufron to Joddy and get out of his seat not to forget he told Kana to go into his room.

Joddy took a heavy breath.

"Oh, yes one more." Gufron stopped his steps and looked at Joddy. "Are you sure the river that brought the fruit wasn't a dead river?"

Joddy swore in the heart. Gufron's grin makes him want to kidnap Kana today.
