The First Night of Cana (Angel Without Wings)

Joddy's massaging his temples. Lately his head has been heavy, a lot of what he thinks. Work, his relationship with Kana and his fucking engagement that's just counting days.

If only Joddy could have canceled it, but it wasn't easy. Jihan still believes that Laras was with her that night. Joddy didn't think a woman as smart as Laras could do this, but Joddy still really hopes there is a miracle that proves that Laras is not the woman he has slept with.

As Joddy's daydreams unfolded as the door of his room opened, a woman with a work stellan walked in without knocking on the door.

"I'm sorry I told you I had to confirm to Mr. Joddy first, but the mother made the decision to enter." Half-running one of the staff in Joddy's office tailed Laras who barged into Joddy's room. Joddy sighed, then gestured his staff to leave the two of them.

"Never come here if there is no business with work" exclaimed Joddy as soon as the staff left the room.

Frown then sat on the empty seat in front of Joddy. "You didn't return a message nor did you pick up my phone."

"I'm busy" replied Joddy lazy and impressed cold, then pretended to be busy with his laptop when he had lost focus since Laras barged into his room.

"Joddy, our engagement day is near. Why the hell are you still cold as me?"

"It's not me who wants this engagement, but you're the same mother."

Tell Joddy it's still hard to accept this hasty engagement. Because Joddy is still convinced if it is not Laras who has slept with him but Kana and she accepted this engagement because her mother who continues to urge besides that feeling disappointed in Kana who said if she felt tortured with his attitude makes Joddy even more depressed and forced to accept this engagement.

"But you accept it too."

"You know the answer to why I do it."

Laras got up from his seat and approached Joddy, leaning on the edge of Joddy's desk with his sweet, far-fetched smile. Laras' hand stretched out to touch Joddy's shoulder stroked him slowly. Feeling bored, Joddy chose to move from his seat and moved to the sofa provided to welcome guests.

"What do you need?"

Getting a cold reception from Joddy offended Laras a little, but he ignored all of that in order to grab the handsome guy's attention.

"Jod, you were cold to me, but that night when you were drunk you"

"Go away if what you're talking about is not a matter of work, this is an office not a cafe you can go to at will." Of course Laras had nothing to do with Joddy's work. But he wouldn't be daunted to grab the man's attention, he'd already been this far wet bitch if he had to retreat.

"Joddy, could you be a little warmer, you weren't like this why did you change?"

"I told you that if it wasn't a matter of work to get out of here, I was doing a lot of work." Joddy barely snapped at Laras but he was still self-conscious not to do that considering Laras was a woman.

"Joddy, we've known even our parents very closely. Come on, try to accept all this, I'm the same you've been betrothed from childhood."

"You also knew long ago that I had another choice."

Barrel smiled cynically." What do you mean? Come on, you know Aunt Jihan doesn't like her because her bebet, seedlings, weights lose far to me."

" You think bebet, your weight is better than Kana?" Joddy laughed blandly. " I know who you are Laras. If it was true that night you were that woman, I'm sure I wasn't the first to do it. Am I wrong?"

Laras's face pias a little, but he tried to stay calm and keep his confidence. "You forgot virginity wasn't fixated on blood? I'm sure you're smart enough to mean it all."

Joddy stared intently at Laras. Joddy's not a virginity blood devotee. But that does not mean he takes it for granted, there must be a clear reason why until something valuable can be lost. He also knew there were special circumstances that caused the woman's crown to be invisible to the free eye.

"Sooner or later everything will open on its own." Joddy confirmed the location of his glasses.

"Oh, huh? Let's just see." Laras smiled faintly though there was concern that Joddy might actually find evidence that Kana was the woman he was with. But hopefully not, even if it will be proven Laras hope after he and Joddy have legally become husband and wife.

"Okay, we'll wait." Joddy got up from his seat and opened the door.

"I still have a lot of work. Do I need to get a security guard to show you where the exit is?" Joddy blatantly threw out Laras he was fed up with this woman in front of him.

Laras looked at Joddy in disbelief. There are many people out there who want a perfect woman. But when he willingly surrenders himself to Joddy, the man blatantly shows his disinterest? Okay, alright. If Joddy thinks Laras will give up, he's wrong.

Maybe not today, we'll see later the important thing is I've held the key to get you. Barrel smoothed his long jet-black hair then walked towards the door. Before he passed, Laras paused for a moment to tidy up Joddy's shirt as if there was something there, then looked at Joddy and whispered, "I'm waiting at our engagement, dear." Baras blinked his eyes and passed by just ignoring the loud door slam behind him.

Joddy's hand reflex that was taking a pack of instant noodles was stopped when he saw a 4-year-old boy running to hug his feet. Joddy was stunned when he saw who the boy was.

"Ken?"

Of the many supermarkets in Jakarta, why should he meet Ken here. The rabbit-toothed boy smiled sweetly. In his hand was a box of milk chocolate with the character of one of the cartoons coming from the land of the Neighbors.

"Who's same?" Joddy lifts Ken's body kissing the little man's padlocked cheek. Joddy misses the smell of Ken telon oil as well as the strawberry-scented children's fragrance that Ken often wears.

"Undus."

Joddy's heart beats faster. Kana, the Kana is here.

No. Not the Cana anymore. But it's been people's girlfriends.

Joddy looked in all directions, but he could not find the woman who owned his heart. Is Kana hiding because she saw him?

"Ken!"

The soft voice came from behind his body. Joddy was wrong, the woman wasn't hiding or maybe didn't have time to hide because she didn't know she was holding Ken.

"Votes!"

Joddy inevitably turned his body making Kana slow down when he saw who was holding Ken. A second their eyes met there was a clear longing in both of their eyes. However, distance forced them to kill the longing in each other's hearts.

Joddy still remembered Kana's surprised face when she received her engagement invitation and how she was just silent, did Kana feel hurt? Joddy hugged Kana and said a thousand words of apology.

"Ken, let's go home" Kana asks Ken who even tightened his embrace around Joddy's neck.

"You want Om!" whining. Kana was silent as well as Joddy. Suddenly the atmosphere became awkward between the two.

"Ken, come on, baby." Kana approaches, extending her hand to retrieve Ken from Joddy's sling.

"Om Oddy let's go and ask Ken?" Ken's twinkling eyes looked at Joddy expectantly making Joddy's heart melt instantly. It felt like Joddy nodded then hugged the tiny body and drove her home, but she realized her existence would only make Kana more tormented.

"I'm sorry, but I have to go to the office again. Ken went home with Mother, huh?"

Ken's face turned moody, almost even crying. "Om, no tangent Ken?"

Joddy gasped at Kana who preferred to observe the items on the shelf ."I miss Ken." Especially your mother.

"But Om, still got to work, honey. Will we play together sometime?" persuade Joddy.

"Benel ya Om, later ain cama Ken."

Joddy nodded." Yes, promise." Nice Joddy. You've made false hopes for such a small child.

"Ken Tangen Om Oddy. Unda biyang Om want unya ante balu yes?" asked Ken plainly, Joddy stared at Kana who quickly threw away his face. New aunt? You even told Ken, Na?

"Ken, come on, honey. I was waiting for Grandpa." Kana reached out her hand and Ken finally received a helping hand.

"Om oddy, Ken puyang duyu yes!" exclaim that fat boy. Joddy nodded then rubbed Ken's head. Kana who felt the awkward aura chose silence, let alone a passing mother then thought they were a happy family. And so, Cana decided to pass as soon as possible from that place and from the presence of Joddy.

Before leaving he just looked at Joddy without a word like a stranger and left just like that, only Ken who waved his tiny hand towards Joddy. Joddy stared at Kana's back which began to distance with a feeling of remorse.

What they don't realize is that they have hurt each other.
