The First Night of Cana (Angel Without Wings)

Not my son

Joddy walks hurriedly to his apartment, clockwise pointing at the number 11. Joddy actually felt tired, the Jakarta-Bandung trip was enough to drain his energy. He was eager to lay down his body on the one-hour goods bed in Kana's house, to recover his strength. But it doesn't feel like it will. Ferddy called her to come home soon because her father and mother were now in Joddy's apartment.

"What's this?" joddy asked as soon as he entered the apartment and found both parents, sister and Laras in one room.

Their faces looked tense in contrast to Laras who was crying so hard. This incident made Joddy feel de ja vu incident a few weeks ago. Jihan looked at Joddy and then moved from her seat to walk towards her eldest child.

Platc ....

Suddenly Jihan slapped Joddy hard. "Your brash son!"

"Mom, what's going on?" Joddy reflexively held her cheek and looked at her mother in shock. This whole new life Jihan slapped him.

" You still ask why? Mom taught you how to be responsible but what do you do? You left Laras alone for a meeting and did not return. Where are you going?" jihan asked with a scrutinizing look.

"I met an old friend, Mom. He asked to take her to Bandung."

"But can you tell Laras?Phone or Wa instead just leave and not come back. You know what happened?" Jihan paused her speech then looked at Joddy sharply.

"Okay, Joddy's sorry it was wrong. But what's up, Mom?"asked Joddy who in his mind was wondering why his mother could get this angry just because Joddy left Laras? After all, Laras is an independent woman she's used to doing everything herself.

"Laras had fainted. You know what it is because?"

Joddy just stared at Laras no matter what.

"The barracks haven't eaten all day, Mas. He's been waiting too long for you" Jihan added. Joddy laughed cynically, God is too dramatized. Why would he have to wait for Joddy?

"Well, I'm pregnant, Mom!" jihan exclaimed making Joddy gasp, his jaw almost falling down upon hearing what Jihan said.

"What?!" Joddy still can't believe his hearing.

"Water pregnant with your son, Joddy." Heru who had been silent since then finally made a sound, clarifying everything.

"What's?Getting pregnant? No way!"joddy exclaimed then approached Laras, looking at him with red eyes holding back anger.

"What are your real plans, Sly Woman!" Joddy pulls Laras' hand and forces him to stand. Baras screamed softly.

"Don't be rude to Joddy's woman, I never taught you to be rude!" Jihan takes off Joddy's hand which pulls Laras' hand firmly and pulls Laras behind his back to secure if at any time Joddy will be rude to him again.

"Mom, don't just trust this woman!" Joddy really wanted to pull Laras and force him to tell the truth.

"You mean Laras lied? Here's proof!" Jihan throws 3 tespacks at the table. Joddy's not interested in seeing the details. But even from far away the flat object pointed at two red lines.

"Mom see for yourself it's hers? It could have been someone else who she deliberately used to pretend to be pregnant," Joddy accused her hand of blatantly pointing at Laras, hearing Joddy's accusations of making Laras cry in Jihan's arms.

"Oh my God, Joddy! How you talk so! Obviously this is your child. You did it. You did it!" Jihan is completely inexhaustible with this boy. It must be because of Kana she's changed.

Joddy shook his head slowly. "She must be just pretending to be pregnant, ma'am."

"Why can you think like that, obviously it's a positive result" said Heru staring at his son sharply.

"Yes, we've tested it again here" suggested Joddy, making Laras stunned. Joddy smiled cynically. Got you! the result will be negative.

"Fer, to the pharmacy over there! Buy 5 tespack at once!" joddy's orders to Ferddy.

The final-level student who had been listening to the adult's conversation gasped in shock, even the snack that had been on his lap had almost fallen and scattered.

"Kok, me anyway, Bang?" ferddy protest did not accept, but seeing the delicacy of Joddy's eyes he chose to give up. "Yes, go." Ferddy then moved from his seat. But as reminded by something she looked at Joddy.

"Where's the money?"

Joddy just glared again and Ferddy knew what he meant. "Yes, use my money," he cried lethargic, then rushed to the pharmacy thinking, how about he meet someone he knows when buying a tespack later? Ah, Bang Joddy, make the kids not think!

Half an hour later everyone was waiting for the results of the Laras tespack which was now in the bathroom. If Joddy hopes Kana is pregnant with her child, it's not so when Laras claims to be pregnant. Joddy prayed that the results of Laras' test pack would be negative so, she still had a chance to thwart her own marriage.

"Don't you shirk?" Ferddy elbowed his brother's arm which had been silent since with a glaring look. Joddy only snorted at a glance making Ferddy pouty.

Chequek...

All eyes were on the open door, Barrel came out of the bathroom with a lethargic face making Joddy cheer inwardly. Definitely negative! Joddy believes the result must have been negative.

"Where, Race?" Jihan immediately approached the lowered Laras with five tespacks in her hands.

Jihan took to the five tespack that was in Laras' hands. "Positive." Jihan showed the five flat objects to everyone in the living room of Joddy's apartment.

Joddy turned to Jihan and quickly snatched the tespack in her mother's hand to prove whether the result was positive. Joddy couldn't believe what he saw the flat object was indeed showing two red lines and that was his fifth.

"No! No way!" Joddy shook his head strongly, then looked at Laras full of anger.

"You're lying, right?! What are you hiding!" Joddy clutched Laras' wrist until he whimpered.

"Ohh! It hurts!" laras groaned as the grip on his hand grew stronger.

"What are you planning!" snapped Joddy.

"Joddy, let go of Laras' hand you hurt him!" Heru warned Joddy. He's never seen Joddy this angry.

"Mas, let go of Laras' hand, you hurt him!" Jihan who finally intervened took off Joddy's hand and pushed him away from Laras.

"Mom, he's lying!"

"Jeez, Joddy. Less clear especially? Here's proof!" Jihan pointed at the flat objects that Joddy had slammed onto the floor.

"It's just a man-made thing ma'am not necessarily accurate! " Joddy still refutes every word of Jihan. She's still convinced that Laras isn't pregnant.

"We proved it medically" said Joddy. Making Laras look at him in disbelief.

"Can't be Auntie!" exclaimed Laras, all eyes staring at him.

"Why? Are you afraid that your lies will be exposed?" Joddy smiled tilted towards Baras.

"It's not like that. If we check with the doctor it takes the data of the husband and we are not married, actually it does not matter to me personally but what about the office person?Then Mama with my Papa. After all this has tarnished their good name?" laras' reply made Joddy speechless because whatever Laras said had a point. Moreover, Laras' parents were a regional official in the city they lived in.

"Then you get married first, the sooner the better" Heru suggested. Jihan nodded in agreement with her husband's proposal.

"Right, what your father said, Mom. You better get married. That's the best solution." Jihan patted her husband's shoulder.

"But I'm sure ma'am. Even if Laras's pregnant isn't my son."

"Joddy! Why are you evil as I am! It's your son Joddy, I'm just saying it's the same as you!" she cried hysterically and hugged Jihan.

Joddy stared at Laras sharply and then threw his body on the sofa. "That's not my son," said Joddy and ruffled his hair in frustration. As much as Joddy never felt like doing that to Laras, as drunk as Joddy he would not completely lose consciousness.

"You must get married immediately. Father and Mother will immediately contact Laras' parents in Surabaya to accelerate your marriage in another week," Heru break up makes Joddy jerked in shock.

"It can't be like that, Dad!" reject Joddy object.

"Can't how? Remember Jod, Laras' stomach will grow, "Jihan replied.

"But what about Kana?" Joddy really could not bear if Kana had to endure her pregnancy alone.

"What does this have to do with that woman?" sahut Jihan's.

"When you're pregnant, ma'am" replied Joddy.

"So he said it was your son? Jesus, Joddy! She's a widow. He can sleep with any man he wants! It's not necessarily your son!"

"Mom, stop thinking negatively about Kana and her status. She's a fine woman and can keep her honor." I don't know why it hurt when Jihan said bad about Kana.

"If she's a good woman she won't get pregnant!"exclaiming Jihan is upset.

Joddy smiled cynically then looked towards Laras. "What's the difference between a woman and a mother? Isn't she pregnant before marriage?" joddy's reply was stifling, leaving Jihan speechless but clearly angry in her eyes.

"Even, enough! Don't make a fuss." Heru mediates. "Your marriage is still going to run and it's a week away. The decision is round. Don't embarrass the family by trying to annul this marriage" Heru broke up last. Makes Joddy in disbelief.

"But-"

"Dad will call Laras' parents immediately. Remember Dad's message earlier, don't embarrass the family by trying to thwart this marriage," Heru quickly cut.

Joddy clenched his hands tightly. He won't give up so soon.
