*********
Kana squirmed for a while as she felt a small shock on her shoulder. But he still refused to wake up from sleep.
"Purp…"
Now Kana felt her body feel heavy, like there was an object piercing her.
"Unda banun's.."
Kana had only really opened her eyes when her cheeks felt wet. "Hi, Honey." Kana greets Kenzo with the typical sound of people waking up. The little boy smiled, apparently wet on his cheek because of Ken's kiss.
"Weight." Kana raised Ken's body and laid the big boy beside him. Hugging her tightly enjoyed the smell of oranges emanating from her straight hair.
Brother Ian, I miss. Kana muttered in her heart. Adrian must be very happy to see Ken grow. Ken grew up well. Healthy, funny, smart and adorable.
"Unda, Ken isa breath." Ken thrashed in his mother's arms. Kana hurriedly took off her embrace and kissed Ken's cheek in a frenzy.
"I'm sorry, dear Mother" whispered Kana. Ken smiled then stroked his mother's cheeks full of affection.
"Unda, Ken wants 'toi."
"Want bread?"
The three-year-old boy nodded.
"Yes, Ken wait for Mother below huh? Mother wants to take a shower first."
Ken cheered cheerfully then got out of bed and out of Kana's room. Cana got out of her sleep, she was stunned when she found her empty bed. Every morning when opening Kana's eyes will see Adrian still asleep at the side. His smooth snoring always adorns their mornings and Kana will always tease Adrian by sticking his nose until Adrian is hard to breathe and then woke up and will reciprocate Kana's actions with a kiss or tickle and they will laugh happy, but it was a year ago, now all that lives memories will never routine that they do again.
Unknowingly tears flowed profusely from both of Kana's eyes. "Sister.ak-indu." Kana felt the side of her empty bed. His free hand patted his chest hoping the tightness was gone. The loss of Adrian.
An hour later Kana just came out of her room she saw the dining room there was only Mama and Kanda. The big boy was not seen there.
"Where's Ma?" kana asked around her house.
"Buy bread in the front mini market. Wait for you later," said Maya busy tidying up the kitchen. It has been a year since Maya stayed at Kana's house to accompany the Princess. Since Kana tries to kill herself by slicing her own wrist, Maya decides to accompany Kana to stay at her house to prevent the same incident from happening again.
"Udah has the aftermath of waking up still during the day lo!" sindir Kanda who coolly feed his food.
"Whisper!" reply Cana. Kanda was silent then looked at Maya who was also staring at him. They are like talking to each other through the eyes.
Ma, Kana we're back!
Yes, Nda
"The same as Mbok Dar?" kana asked and picked up the plate and started scooping the food.
"Just like me" replied Kanda.
Kana's forehead frowned. " From temen lo?"
Well, by the way already use lo-gue means this child has started to normal. Kanda smiled with relief.
"Yes, sam-"
"Undaaa!" ken's new cry interrupts Kanda's words. The white-skinned boy typical of Kana and a typical Adrian nose-nosed ran to embrace Kana .
"Hey, where are you?" kana asked and raised Ken's body and grabbed him.
Ken laughs with joy as Kana kisses her cheeks repeatedly. " Ken bought 'oti cama ecim." Ken replied with a lisp.
"Well, where? Must be Ken told to bring Mbah Dar?"
"Omm?" You mean Ken's friend Kanda?
"How's the Deck doing?"
Kana's reflexes turned to the direction of the voice, her eyes round in shock when she saw the figure standing on the doorstep connecting the family room and kitchen. The now bespectacled man smiled as their gaze met.
"Sister Joddy?" Kana's eyes started to glaze over. He did not know why his heart suddenly melow when he saw Joddy standing in front of him after a year since Adrian's death they did not meet.
Joddy smiled warmly. "Hi, Deck."
*
"I don't forbid you to cry for Adrian every day, Na. But you also have to realize it will never make Adrian back with us. Your cry will make Adrian there unsettled." Joddy said carefully they were both sitting in the gazebu in the garden behind Kana's house. Ken was playing with Kanda, his grandmother and grandfather who had just arrived.
"Hard Brother. I want to get angry. Why did God take Ian so quickly?"
Joddy confirmed his seat facing Kana. "You remember Adrian's words in the hospital?"
Kana pensively floated her memory several years ago when Adrian was shot for protecting Kana from Randi's older sister Susan who is still in prison.
"Adrian says he won't go to a place where there's no one but fate who asks for it. And it turns out that fate asked Adrian sooner to return to God. We can't refuse God's terms, Kana. Fate is not a fate that can be changed." Joddy patted Kana's shoulder gently.
"I know it's very heavy, for you. But you have to be strong for Ken. The little guy Adrian gave you as a substitute to take care of you. Ken still needs you."
Kana looked at Joddy, tears already dripping down her cheeks.
"Now, cry as much as you can. But tomorrow morning you have to smile and get up because Ken still needs you and most importantly you are not alone. There are your parents, in-laws, your brother and your friends they will always be there for you." And I too, will always be there for you Na. Always, from the beginning until now. Joddy continued in his heart. He was sane enough not to say it directly. Although since seeing Kana from a distance, Joddy was eager to hug the woman but he would not do that. It still takes time to heal itself. What you need right now is support.
"Thank you, brother. Kana will try to change. Kana's gonna start all over." Kana rubbed her wet cheek, Somehow Kana always found calm when talking to Joddy. Maybe because Joddy always treated her like a sister.
Joddy stroked Kana's head. "Adrian will be happy to see you smile. Adrian's raga may not be with us anymore. But remember Na, she'll always be in your heart and Ken."
Kana nodded and looked inside the house. Ken is laughing happily with Kanda. Kana's heart warmed when she saw Ken's laughter so loose, so happy.
"Thank you today for bringing Ken a lot of food." Kana stared at Joddy who apparently had noticed Kana from behind her glasses.
"Your welcome." Joddy hurriedly turned his gaze the other way.
"I just realized you're wearing your glasses now?" Kana looked at Joddy in amazement, making Joddy speechless at the sight of Kana's gaze, just like before. What is the sign that Kana is back to how she was?
Joddy cleared his throat for a moment. "Mostly in front of the laptop, Na," replied Joddy scratching the nape of his neck nervously.
"Oh, by the way until when are you in Jakarta?"
"I've moved here again Na" said Joddy. Kana was shocked. Adrian also works in the same office as Joddy. Is Joddy coming back to replace Adrian?
"I was pulled into Kana's headquarters. Sorry, not to replace Adrian. I was put in another division." Look, Joddy always knew what Kana was thinking
Kana nodded. " How is Siska?"
Joddy's speechless. Siska is a friend of Joddy's office in Papua. They are close, and Joddy has introduced Siska virtually to Kana and Adrian as his girlfriend. Though until now Joddy could not feel the vibration of some kind of love for Siska.
"Oh, yes. Almost forgot!" Joddy patted his eel and pulled out a business card and thrust at Kana who received it with a frown.
"This what?"
"My friend's name card. He's a manager at a BUMN bank. In his office again need a front liner, as a stepping stone who knows you ma-"
"You brother, I want to!" sambar Kana fast. Joddy smiled with relief. It was even more relieved that Kana did not talk about Siska.
"Thank God. Tomorrow I'll take you to his office if you want."
"Really Brother?" Kana and her clear eyes are a combination that makes Joddy difficult to move on from her. Jesus, Joddy, what do you think?
"Thank you, sister," said Kana sincerely. Joddy nodded. Everything for you Kana.
