The Charm Behind the Mist

The Charm Behind the Mist
Carren Briana's.

~Happy Reading~

Carren who just got off public transport immediately walked quickly to the University of Darmawangsa while holding an umbrella, because the rain had not yet ransomed.

Today he will take the entrance exam as a freshman of the scholarship track. Because for SMU graduate students who are less able but excel, Darmawangsa University provides the opportunity to be able to study on their campus by taking the entrance exam through a special scholarship pathway. Carren is one of the students who are less able, but achievers.

So this morning Carren tried to get the rain out of the house. He had to ride the angkot twice and take a train to the University of Darmawangsa to follow the entrance.

After getting off at a stop near the campus, he walked quickly so as not to be late. He was grateful, because the rain was not as hard as when it departed from home. So only his shoes were a little wet, because he was walking on the sidewalk. The roads are flooded everywhere.

A car from behind him, suddenly running at high speed. This resulted in a puddle of water on the highway directly bathing Carren who was walking on the sidewalk.

"Heeeiiii..." Shouted Carren who was shocked and angry. It felt like he wanted to curse at the person who had done that to him. Waving his hands to clean his clothes, Carren saw the car enter the gate of Darmawangsa University he was about to show.

When he began to feel less surprised and could see well, he knew whose car had just bathed him with puddles and mud. His heart became sick, as it endured the anger that was not channeled.

Looking at her state, she realized the umbrella she had in her hand could only protect her from the rainwater. But not from the puddles on the streets, so that the clothes he wore were soaked and dirty. So also with the letters in the map in his hand.

He bowed sadly and tears flowed down his cheeks, when he saw his condition. All spirit and hope while departing from the house vanished in a flash.

Although not necessarily accepted to study at the University of Darmawangsa, but a little bit he has tried to use the opportunity he obtained to take the entrance exam at a famous University.

Carren immediately came back and stood at the stop, because it was useless for him to go to the University to take the test. He was grateful that it was raining, so that his cheeks that had been soaked by tears could be disguised. The people and prospective freshmen who passed by did not realize he was shedding tears.

They just looked at him with a face of pity. Her tears could not stop flowing, remembering what she had just experienced and what she had lost before she grasped it. With a sad heart, he looked at the University that he had not intended.

Then she closed her umbrella and sat down at the stop that had started to quiet down. He dried his clothes by squeezing them many times and also took off his shoes to dry. While the letters in the map are no longer tangible and can not be read anymore.

He waited almost an hour at the stop until the water did not drip again from his clothes and was a little dry, only then did he dare to ride the angkot to go home. The angkot driver does not allow and is angry, if there are passengers whose clothes are wet riding in the car. Likewise with passengers who are already sitting in the car.

Upon arriving home, his mother was surprised to see the state of his body shivering with coldness and teeth rustling. His clothes were half dry and dirty.

Without asking, his mother immediately made a hot drink and cooked water for a bath. He held a hot cup of tea with both hands and occasionally clung to his cheeks to warm his cold face.

"Ayooooo's... Mama has prepared hot water in the bathroom. Mix yourself to the size of your warm, then take a shower. Mama will rub your body after the shower." Miss Nancy said, seeing her daughter was done drinking hot tea.

"Yes, Mama... Szoglii." Said Carren, then took the towel and went into the bathroom. He let the bath water warmer than usual, because of his cold and shivering body.

After the bath, Miss Nancy rubbed Carren's entire body with eucalyptus oil to warm her body more. Carren let Miss Nancy do it, even though she didn't really like the smell of eucalyptus oil.

"Now put on your socks and get some rest, Mama will prepare us lunch." Said Miss Nancy, enveloping Carren's body with a blanket. He hoped that his daughter's body would return to a normal temperature.

Carren pulled out the blanket and covered her body, even though the rain had started to break and the fan had been turned off by her Mama. He still felt cold, but had started not shivering.

He tried to close his eyes to rest, even though tears were dripping down the edge of his eyes. He did not want to show sadness in front of his mother, because he knew she expected him to take the entrance exam for college.

Miss Nancy who had left the room left Carren resting, headed to the kitchen to prepare lunch. A few pieces of chicken that he bought at the vegetable maker to season, not to be fried.

But Miss Nancy immediately boiled the chicken with additional potatoes and carrots. He would make an original chicken soup, for his daughter. Due to incomplete contents and seasoning for soup. What matters is being a hot soup for her daughter.

He was very worried to see Carren's condition. 'Surely something happened to him.' That was what he had in mind, but he refrained from asking. 'Later his condition was better, just talking to him.' Miss Nancy kept reminding herself with a deepening.

Because he also wanted to know about the entrance exam to the University of Darmawangsa he participated in. Seeing her earlier like that, Carren's health condition was more important to him. So Miss Nancy is more focused on restoring the health condition of her daughter.

Just before lunchtime, Miss Nancy woke up Carren who was already asleep. He held onto Carren's forehead, then breathed a sigh of relief. Carren's body temperature began to normal and he was very grateful that his daughter did not have a fever.

"Ayooooo's... Let's eat first, then sleep again." Miss Nancy said, as she watched Carren begin to open her eyes. As her consciousness gathered, Carren put away the blanket covering her body, then got up. Then she followed her mother out of the room to the kitchen to eat.

"Eat this soup, it's still hot. To be able to restore your strength back." Say Miss Nancy, filling a bowl of chicken soup.

"Good thanks, Ma." Carren said softly, prayed and began to eat the chicken soup that Mama had given her. Then he took the rice to satiate it more.

After finishing lunch together, Carren tidied the dining table and brought the dining devices that had been used by them to the laundry.

"Arra, just leave it there, Mama will wash it. You don't hold water to wash all that. Come on, sit here again and we talk." Said Miss Nancy, pointing at the dining table chair.

Carren put the dirty eating device in the laundry and sat back with his mother at the dinner table. "What happened to you, so wet and dirty?" Miss Nancy asked quietly, after Carren sat in front of her.

"So when Arra was close to campus, there was a car speeding through a puddle on the road, Ma. The water's spurting watering Arra. Everything that was brought wet, besides my clothes. So Arra can't take the entrance exam." Carren said softly and sadly.

"Don't be sad, maybe next year you can take the entrance exam. All you have to do now is thank God for bringing you home, not to the hospital." Said Miss Nancy, considering the condition of her daughter when she returned home in a pale and shivering state.

"Yes, Ma. My hand was stiff, barely moveable." Carren said given the condition of his body when paying for the angkot.

"Now you rest again, let's recover quickly. Mama wants to finish people's orders, before they come to pick up the seams." Said Miss Nancy, standing up from the dinner table.

Carren walked into the room and checked his phone and activated it. She was grateful, her phone was a little wet but it was okay. Because the bag he uses from cloth, made by Mama.

While lying down, he saw all the posts and conversations of SMU friends in the WA group. There was one question from Ayunna that teased and bore the new wounds of her heart.

"Hi temans, in this group who took the entrance exam through the scholarship track in Wangsa (University of Darmawangsa)?"

Carren knew, Ayunna was laughing happily because it had foiled her plan to be able to go to college in Wangsa. If you don't take the entrance exam now, you can't come next year. Because the opportunity is only given to outstanding students who have just graduated.

It was not conveyed to his mother, because she was worried that her mother was disappointed and sad.
