The Antagonist's Full Moon

The Antagonist's Full Moon
6. The Prince

"What are you doing?"

Liv gasped when she heard someone talking in the back. The girl looked. A man with a long coat stood looking at him from the edge of the lake. Her hair was a bit gray white and her eyes were dark gray irises.

Liv remembered the appearance of the late king before, whose painting was displayed in the lobby of the house as a form of respect. At that instant, Liv found out who the man was.

"Ah, Yes-His Highness the Prince! I-i ... Uh!"

Liv's two legs that had been submerged in water to below the knee suddenly drilled. The girl had almost fallen to the bottom, if only her hand had not been pulled by Haldir. Liv's coat hood was released, revealing the girl's face. Bathed in the full light, Liv's skin was so pure white and her ivory white hair shone.

The girl's appearance was caught in the eye by Haldir. Liv herself was surprised when she looked at the handsome face of the prince. Like the painting of King Aelfric as a young man. It was quite surprising when people were still questioning the legitimacy of Haldir as crown prince, even though his face was very similar to that of the former king.

Haldir pulled Liv's hand to the edge. The girl was unable to dodge. Although Haldir has not spoken a single word, Liv knows that the man will advise that his actions are wrong.

"Whatever your reason for doing the thing just now, is unjustified! Ending your own life is not the right way out!" hardik the prince.

Liv was stunned being snapped so hard by the man before her. However, his resentful feelings for his father, especially his own destiny, led Liv to return the words.

"You can talk that way because you're not in my position!" exclamation Liv. He no longer saw that Haldir's status was higher, so he dared to refute the prince's words.

"You live comfortably, abundant in wealth. Especially, you are the crown prince, your magic power is definitely much greater than everyone!"

The direct descendants of Legolas who served as king did not directly indicate that he was also the owner of the greatest magic power in the country.

The probation of the future king is not only to test the intelligence of problem-solving strategies and wisdom to face the people, but also to measure the magic power in war. The highest score of the three parameters determines who will be the next king.

Suddenly, Haldir clutched Liv's collar and shouted, "You think, I don't intend to end my life, huh!"

"Once in a while, I wanted to obliterate my own life since I arrived at this capital city! Everyone talks bad behind my back. Many are after my life just because of my mother's origin. I didn't even get to know my father at all, but suddenly I was brought here to take his place. You think, how I feel!

But this country still needs me to lead! I was born and raised in the village, I understood their feelings, the poor people. I know, I'm the only one who can replace my father, rather than the children of the Elvenars whose lives have always been a treasure."

Slowly, Haldir released his grip on Liv's clothing collar. Haldir forgot that he was dealing with a woman.

"I'm sorry, I've crossed the line" said Haldir slowly, no longer an emotion like that. Liv gasped at everything the prince said. Apparently what the servants were talking about about the background of the Prince was true, Liv said in her heart.

"I don't know what happened to you, but at least stay grateful. Even though you think your life is miserable, your clothes are still much nicer than those of my cousin in the village." Haldir warned Liv gently.

Liv turned her eyes to the dress she was wearing behind the hooded coat. The dress was made of expensive cloth. However, Liv thought her dress was ugly because it had faded. Apparently, there are still people out there who don't dress as well as themselves.

"I'm sorry .. ." said Liv. The girl lowered her head and grabbed her coat in embarrassment. Haldir sighed. Then, with a flick of a finger, Haldir bewitched his pants as well as Liv's wet dress dried instantly.

"Sit down." Haldir invited Liv to sit next to him, on the grass of the lake. Liv according.

"What's your name?" ask the man.

"My name is ... ." Liv stopped when she wanted to introduce herself. Liv thinks that if the prince finds out her name, it will one day be revealed that Liv is the infamous cursed black girl in the capital. Liv didn't want to show a flaw on the man. Moreover, what the prince was currently encountering was a normal version of himself having been exposed to the full moonlight.

"Who?" ask Haldir again.

" ... Melians. My name is Melian, Your Majesty." Liv has lied. Her brother's name came to the surface. Liv and Melian did have a similar look, if only the color of the dark skin and the curse of the black fog were not the difference between them.

"Call me Haldir. Don't be so formal. Too often people call me Prince or His Majesty, I almost forgot my real name."

A laugh came from Liv's mouth. Haldir was stunned to see the girl's face. A second later, they laughed together.

"Ah, the future king, yes. In fact, if you had a biological child other than me, I would not be the only candidate for the king at this time. Too bad, Legolas tradition does not allow the children of Father's brothers to run, even though Uncle Leis has sons and daughters who meet the requirements."

"Do you really not want to be king? Everyone wants to be king, right?" ask Liv. Haldir shook his head and said, "I don't want to be a scandalous king like this."

Haldir stared deep into the mountains that were across the lake. His eyes glare. "Uncle Leis told me that my father, King Aelfric, was in love with my mother who was a country girl. They even married secretly. Dad's family did not approve, he was forced to leave Mom. At the time, I didn't know that Mom was pregnant with me. Even after I was born, my mother kept my whereabouts a secret.

A few years later, he became king. When he became king, he knew that he had children, when his army passed through the village where I lived. But by that time, Dad was already with the Queen, based on a political marriage. My father has always been secretly supportive of my life. I never knew any of those things. Mom suddenly put me in a good place, without me finding out where the money came from.

Until finally, Uncle Leis came to pick me up about a year ago. Then, this is my position now." Haldir told a long story. Liv listened to it carefully.

The Prince looked towards Liv. "Thank you."

"Eh? What's for?" Liv surprised.

Haldir smiled at him. "To be willing to hear my story. Finally, there's someone I can talk to, after all this time."

"You don't have any storytelling friends? What about your uncle?" ask Liv.

Haldir shook his head, then took a deep breath. "I don't want to burden him with my complaints. Moreover, all this time Uncle Leis who was instrumental in delivering all the help of Father to Mother in the village. I should be able to look strong in front of him."

They both remained silent for a moment. Before long, Liv sighed and said, "Ummm, it might be strange to hear this from me, but. I mean, once in a while, if you're tired, get some rest. In fact, cry if you have to."

Haldir listened to the girl's words. It was a long time ago, she never cried again. After he was forced to separate from his mother, Haldir no longer shed tears. Now, it feels like there's a drop of water at the end of the eye patch.

"You're right. You are absolutely right .. " said Haldir. He covered his face with his left hand, not wanting to be seen crying in front of the girl he had just met. However, without Liv seeing anything, the girl knew, as the prince's back trembled slightly.

Liv kept quiet, waiting for the prince to finish reconciling his feelings. Before long, Haldir walked closer towards the lake water. He wet both hands, then rubbed his face until wet. Then, he smiled at Liv.

"It's fresh now!"

"Thank God!" reply Liv smiled.

They continued to chatter under the moonlight. Most of their chatter was memories of when Haldir lived in the village. Moments later, the clock tower in the city park rang. His voice was heard up to twelve times, indicating it was twelve o'clock in the evening. Liv gasps. He did not expect the time to pass so quickly until midnight.

"Ah, I have to go home!" liv said, then moved from her seat. His intention to end life was not fulfilled. He made a new friend instead.

Haldir stood up. "Can we meet again?" tanyakanya.

"Yes" Liv replied. She tidied up the dress that had fallen apart from sitting too long.

"Tomorrow nights?"

"Don't!" sahut Liv quick. Because tomorrow night is not a full moon anymore, Liv said in her heart, she did not dare to reveal.

"Then?" Haldir awaits certainty.

"When the full moon comes! It was a long time ago, yeah!" Liv waved her hand, before finally disappearing in the darkness of the night.

Liv has a new activity. When the full moon arrives, Liv will go to the lake to meet her new friend, the lonely prince, just like her. Two lonely people can fill and strengthen each other.

Although Liv's life does not change much, but the full moon becomes the time that Liv is always waiting for. He never had any friends. All this time she was always with her sister. Liv just found out, having a sharing friend turned out to be fun like this.
