Dean's eyes were back around. The forest where it is felt so real. As much as possible, Dean tried not to be imprisoned by the panic that attacked part of him.
The man tried to control his anxiety by re-enjoicing the rustling chirping of birds and the noise of insects that usually only appear during hot weather. Dean has decided. It must move while the sun is still overhead even though it is not very visible.
"At least, I should make it out of this weird place before night."
Dean also tried to remember the lessons he received while undergoing nature lovers activities at his school first. If you get lost in the forest, as much as possible he must find the flow of the river. Because, usually there are always residential settlements around the flow.
Dean began to walk through the forest while putting up his hearing, hoping to hear the splashing sound of water. As he walked, the more leaves on Dean's head diminished. The distance between the phonnya also began to stretch, until the sun can illuminate the forest land more.
During the forest retreat, Dean secretly realizes that not a single wild animal is roaming around. He found only small animals such as squirrels and birds, which Dean was grateful for in his heart.
After walking far enough away, Dean finally heard the sound of water flow. He also tried to approach the source of the sound instinctively and rely on his hearing.
Sure enough, after a while of following the sound, Dean finally saw the flow of the river from between the trees.
Dean sped up the pace with a heart thump full of excitement. "If there's a stream, it means that there must be a settlement nearby!"
Without hesitation, Dean bowed and cupped the clear river water with both hands, then drank it. The freshness of the water is able to repel the thirst that he has been holding, as well as his anxiety. A glimmer of hope will escape him from this forest was immediately bursting in the chest.
Finished drowning his thirst and gathering energy, Dean continued his journey by leaving the riverbank. Luckily, just a few moments walk, he managed to find a field.
Dean paused for a moment, then breathed a sigh of relief while circulating his gaze around. A small smile adorned his lips, excited. "Finally, it can get out of this obscure forest!"
Not far from where he was standing, three young men were sitting on the bridge's perimeter wall passing over a small stream.
Ahh, there are locals I can talk to! dean's mind was happy, then approached them.
However, the more Dean approached, he instead found an awkwardness in the three young men.
Their hair is colorful — each red, yellow, and green— unlike the Indonesian people in general who have black hair.
Their skin is also so white. In fact, as white as human skin, there must be a little tanned or reddish because of the pigment. In fact, their skin appears radiant when exposed to sunlight.
Even more strangely, despite having the height and stature of an ordinary human, but their earlobes are long with taper tips and sticking out from behind the hair. The three local residents become invisible like humans anymore, but European mythological creatures called elves.
That's .. impossible, isn't it? Are they really elves? Or maybe they were just wearing costumes?
Dean was astonished, as he continued to walk closer. He still thinks optimistically. Right, must be in costume! Where are there elves in the real world?
Dean was now only two meters away from the three young men. One of them finally realized Dean's whereabouts. The other two young men followed his friend's gaze, then looked at Dean.
Then, they exchanged glances with each other while putting on a confused look. Not daring to move any closer, Dean chose to stay in place, as the three of them approached.
"Who are you?" ask the green hair. His voice was not much different from that of a normal adult.
Before Dean could answer, the yellow-haired man asked, "Why are your clothes so weird, huh?"
They're watching Dean more closely. Indeed, when compared to the clothes of the three youths, Dean's appearance looked completely different. He wears black cloth pants and long-sleeved white T-shirts, while they wear thin coats that cover the body from chest to toe like clothes in fantasy films.
Are these actors who just finished the movie? So, no cameras near here? Dean kept asking in his heart while occasionally wailing in search of objects he believed were around. However, it turns out that it is nil.
The young men began to grow angry because Dean did not answer. "Don't just shut up!"
Dean jerks. He wanted to retaliate, but the look on the faces of these young men was already irritated and fierce like market thugs. He could only reply in a stammer, "Sorry, I—"
"Squeaky. The skin color is different, look!"
One of them grabbed Dean's wrist roughly and pulled him up, then compared Dean's brown back to their porcelain-white skin.
"To my knowledge, in this kingdom there is only one dark-skinned person, the daughter of the Themaris family. Are you a member of their family?" asked the redhead, while Dean removed his hand from the young man's grasp
Themars? I am no stranger to that name. But, have you heard where, huh? Dean again asked in his heart, while scratching the area of hair above the ears that actually does not itch.
Instantly, the redhead gasped. "Oh, his ears are round!"
"Why, then, are his ears round?" ask the green hair innocently.
The yellow hair immediately pierced the head of his relative. "Have you forgotten the world history lessons we received at the academy, Gale? Those round ears are human traits!"
"Human? That barbarian creature that went extinct thousands of years ago, Yich?" Gale made sure, which was reciprocated by a nod of the yellow hair called Yich.
The redhead was getting suspicious. The young man surrounded Dean's body, watching him as a whole. "Is he really human?"
"If it's true like that, Ren, the citizens can be in an uproar because of this!" peekit Gale's.
Instantly, Dean began to feel insecure. The feeling is that something is not right here. Slowly, Dean stepped back, trying to get away from the three young men.
"Ah, you misunderstood! My teeth aren't round, but I'm wearing a costume," Dean said, followed by a stiff little laugh. Of course the reason Dean could not be taken for granted by the three pointy-eared youths.
"Suspicious! Get him, quick!"
Dean dodged according to instinct, as one of them was about to grab his arm. The man immediately escaped from the location, which of course was immediately followed by the three elves earlier. His mind is so upset right now. He really did not expect that one day he would meet mythological creatures like them.
What dream did I have last night, until I had to experience something like this!
"Stop!!" yell at one of them, then launch an attack in the form of a light shot towards Dean. Fortunately, the man was able to escape.
That one just now ... magic?!!
Dean panicked and continued to run incessantly, crossing the residential area. The first time he saw a magical thing called magic like that. While running, Dean spread his gaze up, left and right. It appeared before his eyes so clear, a sight that Dean would not meet while on earth.
Trees towering up to tens of meters, decorated with tinkling roofs attached to the trunk. In addition to the precarious roof, there are also balconies, windows, and doors. Houses are built inside the tree trunk. So no wonder, if the diameter of the trees here is so large, different from what Dean met in the forest earlier. Only the front such as doors and patios or balconies protrude out.
In the sky, there were large birds with arms passing by, carrying one or two drivers on top of them. There is also a wooden wheeled carriage whose power is pulled not using the strength of a horse, but a large lizard like a Komodo dragon. It's faster than any delman on Earth. There are also carts carrying goods that are pulled by animals like long-horned cow coiling.
It's weird ... Absolutely insane! But, why does it feel like I've seen all this?
Some elves appear to be on the terrace or balcony, doing their respective activities. Some were seen walking around and joking with others. Dean did not pay attention to the whole thing. All he knew was they were all pointy-eared and porcelain-white.
The fast pace of Dean's two legs did not stop. The three elves behind him tried to cast their magic like before, but often failed. Dean was lucky enough to be able to dodge all of those attacks without the slightest defense.
"Hey, wait! Barbarians! Oi! Stop that!" gale shouted, trying to stop Dean. People who are pre-selected certainly do not want to obey.
"He disappeared! Shit!" The three elves stopped on a stone bridge connecting the residential area and public facilities separated by the river. The three of them gasped for breath, losing track of Dean.
The green hair was pinned to his head by the yellow hair. "Stupid gale! Don't scream like that!"
"What's the matter, Yich? What wrong!" Gale grumbled in annoyance.
"There are a lot of people here! If someone else realizes he's human, and takes him to the palace before us, then we've failed to plan for a big reward!" sahut Ren the redhead. Gale nodded in understanding.
"So, are we just looking quietly?"
"Really! Let's split!"
The three of them decided to split up halfway, in the opposite direction. The three elves did not realize that Dean was listening to all their conversations from the riverbank under the bridge. The man was breathless.
Why am I trapped like this! What have I done to get out here!
Dean tried to calm his breathing. So busy running, he forgot the pain in his back due to being struck by magic earlier. Before long, from the top of the bridge where the man was hiding, there was the sound of several girls chatting with each other as they passed by.
"Do you know that our future king is very handsome?"
"Ah, I've heard the rumors! He said, very similar to the late King Aelfric as a young man!"
"Yes, you're right, but strangely enough, there are still those who question whether this prince is a descendant of King Aelfric or not ... ."
"Hmmm, perhaps because of the origin of her mother who was only a village girl, whereas all this time, the king's descendants had always been born from pure noble blood."
"Ah, what a pity for our future king, ummm .. I forgot, what is his name?"
"Name Haldir. Haldir Legolas."
Dean was immediately aghast upon hearing the chatter of the girls.
Haldir Legolas! So right, if this is the world in my novel "The Wasted Prince"?!
