Chapter 42

Title: 3 Hearts!

Amon cut the orange-looking devil fruit into pieces and diverted his attention from the octopus. He glanced at the unconscious man behind him, as he walked towards him.

It was an average-bodied man, who was naked with only a white curtain covering his bottom. Before experimenting on the Octopus, Amon had to be sure of something.

"Maybe I should have gotten a woman, I prefer a naked woman to a grown man" Amon shook his head. "But oh well, my fragile heart will not be able to accept the repercussions of killing a woman ..." 

Amon sneered at his own words and then he walked towards a strange-looking computer with many colorful keys on the keyboard.

"It's time to wake her up..." Standing in front of the computer, Amon pressed the red button. *Beep!*

*zzttk!* A stream of electricity flowed through the unconscious man as his body jolted!

"AAA-AAARGH!"

Ignoring the man's plea, Amon then placed 24 dials [Vision Dial: Motion Capture] throughout the room, making a circle around the coffin.

Then he walked slowly and stood beside the glass chest. It was stored on a table and high enough for Amon to put his chin on the glass. Right now, the conscious man was back inside the coffin and was staring at Amon with terrified eyes.

"Free me! Application-MMMM!"

Before he could finish his words, Amon stuffed a mouth-sized pipe into his mouth through a small hole above the glass coffin. The pipe then reached his throat and throat. 

"Hmm!!!!" He cried, but Amon did not show any reaction. Instead, he simply picked up the piece of orange devil fruit and dropped it through a pipe. "MM-MMM!!–MM!!" 

Amon placed his chin on the coffin while looking at the man whose face was turning blue due to the terrible taste of the devil fruit. 

'Waiting for the day I eat one ...'

Soon, he realized that the man's leg was turning into a blanket.The orange devil fruit is the Blanket-Branket fruit, which allows the user to turn into a blanket.

Amon is testing the theory that the devil fruit occupies the heart of the eater. Previously he had researched the hearts of devil fruit users, yet those hearts were no different from normal human hearts. Amon believed it was due to the reincarnation of the devil fruit. Just like the dead, the devil fruit left the body and the body returned to normal.

Unless he gets a cut of heart by Op-Op no mi, or at least, the heart of Buggy the Clown, he won't be able to test the heart of a living subject, at least not with equipment of this level.

For that, he needed to use a rough testing manner, which he was doing now. He would make someone eat two demon fruits, and according to the previous tests, his body would explode in a second. 

In this test, Amon has placed a motion-capture camera to capture the blast clip. Once the clip is in place, he'll slow it down until he can see the starting point of the body explosion.if it's around the heart, then he'll at least get some headsets.

Ammon wasted no time, and dropped another piece of fruit through the pipe, though this time it was a devil fruit that looked like an apple, the fruit of the Needle-Jarum. 

*Switching*

As the piece slid through the pipe, Amon quickly ran into a corner, behind the shelf.

"AA–AA–AAAAAAAA! IT'S SICK–AAA!" 

*explosion!*

Immediately, an explosion occurred, an explosion of a living human body.

Amon peaked off the shelf. The glass coffin was intact, but the man inside was not. In fact, there's no one in it. No head, no limbs, no eyes, and no ears, not even bones. Just blood and even more BLOOD. 

The coffin was a pool of blood now.

"Very disgusting. I hate this." Amon breathed. "But I have to do what I have to do."

Amon then went to the bathroom to throw off his disgust. He returned to the room again, after conducting dozens of clear tests.

A few minutes passed, and Amon was sitting in a computer chair with several Motion Dials connected to him. He still had a blood pool coffin behind him. Right now, he had no special reaction on his face, other than pure disgust. 

"Eww.it's the third time, but I can't forget it. Fuck." Amon had a mask on his face as he said this. He closed his mouth so as not to vomit. He lit the room fragrance as the disgusting scent was immediately overcome by the wonderful scent of lemon.

Immediately, he replaced his mask with one filled with the scent of a room fragrance and started working at the computer.

*Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap!*

He types quickly, as the screen shows the video he recorded with Motion Dials.

["AA–AA–AAAAAA!" *explosion!*]

The video plays at a normal speed, as it shows how the body is dissolved in a second. He then began to reduce the speed to its maximum limit.

["AA~AA~AAAAAA!" *Boom~!*]

It was slow, very slow as it showed how his blood vessels bulged and his body shattered. However, this is not enough.

Just like that, about 10 hours passed.

["AA~~AA~~AAAA~~~~!"]

The scream continued for a few minutes, because finally, when judgment came.

This is when Amon will find out whether the explosion really started from the heart or not... It was still difficult to see things at that speed, however, Amon's [Haki Observation] succeeded.

[*~BBBOOOOOOM~*]

The clip is slow, but Amon's world is slower. It was as if time had completely stopped, and Amon saw everything very clearly. 

He realized the starting point of the body explosion was his chest... But specifically, is that his ribs? Is that a lung? Or is it ... heart? 

This time Haki's observation is innocent, but rather, the technology Amon has now, which is not enough to prove it.

"For now, let's assume it's the heart... If so, then an octopus with three hearts would be safe... Aren't we?" Amon asked himself while looking towards the small glass container on the other table, which contained a frightened octopus.

Amon then ignores the bloody coffin and goes towards the octopus instead. He could feel how scared the octopus was ... Even though he doesn't care. According to his calculations, even a THREE-hearted octopus would die as well, but even if it persisted, he would kill it himself to extract the demon fruit.

"Oh," Suddenly, Amon looked at the table in the room. "Two demons are reincarnated, good." Seeing the devil fruit like an orange and the devil fruit like an apple, Amon walked towards them and returned to the octopus.

Looking at the octopus with emotionless eyes, Amon shook his head. Immediately, he cut a piece of the orange devil fruit and decided to drop it into the container. He was careful not to give the apple as the first fruit because it was the fruit of the Needle-Jarum. Potentially, it was extremely dangerous, even an Octopus could kill it after eating it. 

He then slowly dropped the piece.

The little octopus hurriedly took a few steps back, as he sensed the danger from the incident earlier. 

He wanted to escape from this container, however, he felt a sharp glare on his back, as he looked towards the two red eyes that were staring at him with killing intent. 

Scared and without a choice, the octopus slowly crawled towards the piece of orange and began to eat it. It tastes sour, but it's just a small piece so the octopus swallows it all at once.

Oct feels the changes in his body but does not know what it is, soon he realizes one of his tentacles is turning into a strange substance he has never seen before. 

It controlled the tentacle, which was now in the form of a blanket, towards its mouth to bite, however, it had no taste in it.

*dropping*

The next moment, he found another fruit in front of him. Thinking it would also give him some sort of strange power, which might help him run away from the red-eyed human, he quickly crawled towards the Apple piece.

*NomNom-!!*

The octopus felt strange... Very quaint. He felt his body might explode, but it didn't.

He didn't explode–!!!! *EXPLOSION!*

About 0.9 seconds later, Oct exploded.

[A few minutes later]

"Well, that's quite a surprise. It didn't explode instantly, it took 0.9 seconds longer to explode than a human." Amon said.

He sighed. "So is this a failure? Do I have to be content with just one devil?" Amon asked himself while leaning back in his chair. For a person like Amon, he will never be satisfied even with Logia, the best Goro-Goro, or even the best Paramecia though, ****no mi. He wanted to have both of them and another one as well...

However, he laughed while covering his face. "Actually, I wouldn't call it failure... I would say that my 'heart-fruit demon' theory is 101% accurate even after this failure." This time, though it seems that his theory proved to be a failure, Amon was more than satisfied.

He wakes up while stretching. "I just need to go back to Shandora Hall. Then I'll test it... Black beard does... Why can't I?." 

Ammon then begins to secrete chemicals that make pools of blood dry, fusing the desert sand.

Devil fruit mastered. 2 Is always better than 1. Or rather, 3 is always better than 2. Yes, Ammon had THREE demons in his mind that he would eat. Goro Goro no mi is just one of them.
