He sees Gaban using both of his axes to cut off the other Marines, which causes the man to click his tongue.

Whitebeard grinned silently, running forward. "Yet you came."

Gaban sneered, but he also grinned. "Shirohige, you are the only person I know to whom Captain Roger bowed. Heh, if you call me earlier, I won't refuse." She laughs. "But don't be in a hurry, old man, today I'm here for the boy, not you."

Whitebeard let out a cold laugh and added, "Alright, son. Look, I can't go to Ace, because if I do, Garp or Sengoku will jump in. I'll take care of the little fries, you take care of the girl. Yamato's there, and have Marco fly up and pick up Ace."
