Chapter 259
—
When Sengoku finds out about Impeldown's absolute destruction, he senses the earth moving from under his feet.
"I may ... "
Impel Down is the most durable structure in the whole world, only second only to the main palace of Mariejoa.
One would need the destruction ability to exceed Whitebeard if he wanted to not only destroy, but wipe it out completely.
Sengoku in his prime had fought dozens of Whitebeards, even hundreds of times. Edward Newgate could theoretically obliterate the entire world into pieces. It should be impossible for a man who is only two decades old to have power beyond that .
Sengoku slumped back into his chair as he stared at the mirror where his black hair looked bleached in an almost comical motion.
"But how...?"
Thinking about it, there was something else that made sense. Why else would Amon give someone else a Gura-Gura no Mi if he didn't have the least suitable strength?
"...Now he has even declared war on the Government."
That message in the cloud can only mean that. Seems like nothing like Sengoku expected, Amon not only visited Laugh Tale and claimed the title of Laughtale…
" No," Sengoku sighed. "Just being the Pirate King won't work for him. He's targeting unclaimed thrones from all over the world, isn't he?"
Sengoku won't let it go as long as he's here. He could only imagine the state of the world if someone like Amon set it up.
However, with Impeldown gone, the Marine's ability to hold off the strongest criminals is now gone. That is, they also need to give extra focus to the Pirates in addition to Enherjar. In that case…
"How do we stop it?"
How in the world, will the government win this time?
—★—
Not even half a year had passed since the War of the Best ended, yet, now, a war that chirped to be greater than that had begun.
The World Government wasted no time. They summoned troops from all over the world to the Grandline. They knew better that most of these soldiers were cannon fodder, but even that was better than nothing .
The first is marines from all over the world. Later, all of Pol's Ciphers, from 0 to 9, were deployed to kill Amon's strongest forces on that occasion. But there are moles between them–no, there are many moles between them.
The CP-9 was brainwashed by Amon when he first took the fruits of the Doors from them, and when all the CPs were collected at once, they had betrayed the Government by killing most of the other Cipher Pols.
Among the remaining, only the CP-0 deserved to get into trouble as they were the ones who managed to defend against the CP-9 surprise attack before it eliminated it completely.
This makes the government tired. If Amon had a spy inside Cipher Pol, where else would he not have his people?!
Even Vice Admiral was not off the list of suspects. So, all Vice Admiral's had to go through several tests to prove that they were not brainwashed or even ordinary spies. Even Ryokugyu, the man who was promoted to the rank of Admiral in one month despite protests from the rest of the Marines, also had to go through some serious interrogation to defend his title.
The other two admirals, Kuzan and Gion, were with the Marines for decades and were highly trusted by Sengoku and Garp, so they were not interrogated at all.
However, even with all this, the Marines are under serious pressure. It had been seven days since Amon declared war, and while there was no tangible result from it because the great men had not even entered the war, the marines were pushed back.
Many pirates opposed Amon because Amon had killed their crewmate, captain, brother, sister, by destroying Impel Down. However, at the same time, the number of people under Amon had increased drastically in just seven days as well.
He now had nearly 300 thousand soldiers under him now.
Pirates join him every day, some hoping to benefit from the war in the destruction of both sides, some hoping to stab Einherjar when they lose, while some only believe Amon will win. Most pirates have a long and deep grudge against the Marines, so it doesn't matter which of the three categories mentioned above, when they see a marine soldier, it's not a matter of which, they do not refrain from killing like a butcher.
But the biggest losses the Marines had were... Amon's base, Alabasta, suddenly disappears from the map.
That is, while she could come to Marineford, or worse still Mariejoa, at any time and use her techniques that she used in Impel Down, the Marines could not even scratch her base.
Before the war even heated up, the Marines might have lost.
—★—
As the war progressed, Amon sought out powerful recruits around the world.
That was why he was currently on Fish-Man Island.
"But..." Otohime's brows widened as he looked at Amon anxiously. " W-how can Shirahoshi help in a war of this magnitude?"
Amon sat on the sofa opposite Neptune and Otohime while sipping a glass of fish juice.
"You know, even though it's a very rare knowledge in the past, it's an open secret on this island of yours. Shirahoshi is an ancient weapon foretold, "Poseidon". Don't you?" said Amon. "I believe it answers your question."
Amon was never open about this with them and instead acted unconsciously. The King and Queen both knew that, so now that he was out of his actions, it meant he was serious …
Amon turned to the third person present in the room, sitting on a different sofa to his right. Shyarly, fortuneteller.
"Now, Shyarly, if you want." He moved his hand at the trembling mermaid who had seen the future a few minutes ago.
As Amon had expected, there was a limit to his abilities. His limits were most obvious when he tried to see a future where many people with powerful Haki were present. This war, in other words. He could only see a little, and that was uncertain. That's why Amon can easily show her what she wants without her noticing.
"Y-yes." The shark nodded and turned towards the King and Queen. "Your Majesty, I .. I think it is better if you do what the Celestial Emperor says." He said, "War is dangerous, that's true. However, if Amon does not win, not only will we lose his support, but the Government will become the strongest force in the absence of almost all Emperors. That is, the Fish-Man will be in danger once again."
He let his work sink in before continuing after taking a breath. "But... According to my calculations, the chances of winning if Shirahoshi joined the Amon side were many times higher. So I thought that was a good idea"
"Sharia!" Otohime crying. "He's 15 years old! You want him to carry the burden of world war on his shoulders?! Are you out-of-"
******* A deep and irritated Ammon interrupts it. He put down his cup and raised his head to look down at her with glowing red eyes.
"Otohime, didn't I save your life?"
Otohime's face paled with guilt. "Amon, you know I'm grateful for that. It's a different matter-"
"It's good to know you're grateful." Amon cut it again. "But remember," then Amon's eyes flashed red, but that only happened when he saw Otohime. Haki Amon appeared towards her, entered her eyes and showed a vision to her. The vision, in which his head, along with Neptune, fell to the ground with a small thud. "I can, in an instant, take your life as easily as I can save her."
Otohime's already pale face lost color as he looked at Amon in shock and disbelief. He never threatened her before ... In the end, the fear of the living beings warning him about the threat in front of him made him gulp.
The technique Amon has just used is a new stage of Haki Observation. He tries to train the 3rd stage Conqueror Haki by projecting his Haki to form a construction. Raki helped her with that, she probably added with great satisfaction, which bothered her a lot. However, even with all that, Amon was unable to succeed, but instead, he found himself with a technique that allowed him to create Illusion onto a single target. Instead of seeing things with Haki for himself, this technique shows others what Amon wants.
He has a simple name for it, «Mirage» , he calls it.
A second passed as Otohime exchanged glances with Neptune. Two at the end, take a deep breath. However, Otohime turned to Amon with a final plea.
"Amon, please." He said, "He's still a kid. Can't you reconsider?"
At his last supplication, Amon sighed but before he could speak, Shyarly did.
"It's okay, Your Majesty." He said, "I can guarantee 'Shirahoshi will be fine under him."
Amon looked at him for a moment before laughing in his mind.
If only it were true.
—★—
Amon takes Shirahoshi away from Fish-Man Island with the Paw-Bubble he made with his Paw-Paw Fruit. The Mermaid Princess was very happy to finally go to the outside world, even though her mother warned her about the war she was about to follow.
But honestly, if Amon needed it to destroy some of the islands here and there, he would. The limit was that he would not kill anyone, and as long as Amon let him obey that, he would follow his plan.
"Teacher," Shirahoshi said, leaning against the wall of huge transparent claws as she looked down at the passing sea with glittering eyes. “You should have taken me out earlier! Everything looks so beautiful!”
He pointed his nose at an island miles below. “What is that green thing? Is it a forest?”
Amon nodded from behind him. "It's an island, it does have a forest in it."
"We'll be there later, Shira," said Amon, patting his tail. "First, let me show you something."
The speed that the foot bubble traveled suddenly increased as the world below blurred, although the inside of the bubble was extremely calm. At a hazy glance, Shirahoshi looked stunned before being a little sad.
He shook his head in disappointment before asking, "Where are we going?"
Amon did not speak and instead let his answer present itself to him.
The speed of the journey slowly diminished and the scene below them became clear. Shirahoshi narrowed her eyes but due to Haki's lack, she couldn't see anything. So, Amon lowered the bubble enough for him to see while making a light barrier around the bubble using the Pika-Pika no Mi that reflected light from the surface, thus making it invisible from the outside.
"What do you think, Shira?" Amon asked, looking down at the scene where blood, gore and death, filled the air. "It's a war, where death happens every second. Beautiful right?"
He glanced to the side, observing the large eyes of the huge mermaid trembling in its sockets as he began to descend.
"C-can we move out of here?" He said, immediately looking back at Amon with teary eyes. "I don't like this."
Amon smile. “Why not? If the green forest was so beautiful, what was wrong with the deep red battlefield? Watch a little more. Did you see people in white uniforms? They are my enemies, and everyone is my people. Look how skillfully they are at killing enemies. Think of it as a game, if you will."
"...What's?"
His face paled as Shirahoshi tried to take a step back instinctively, but because his fish tail was unfamiliar with solid surfaces, it was not, he almost tripped but Amon lowered the gravity enough for him to walk and carried him back to his old position before him.
"Why are you afraid?" Amon asked, looking at him. "You don't think I'm gonna hurt you, do you?"
The tone he used indicated that he might. Hearing that, Shirahoshi's eyes shook.
"Teacher, you're scaring me ..."
"Oh?" Amon tilted his head as his red horns gleamed in the bright sunlight while blood of the same color splattered on the ground below. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."
No, he really intended to do it. He needs it to be scared. He needed it to fear death because only then could he use the Soul-Soul fruit on him.
'Such stupid restrictions ...'
He could have killed her now and then interfered with her soul, but Shirahoshi was a special being, an ancient weapon. So letting his soul leave his body might make him lose his privilege. He couldn't take such a risk.
"Shira" Amon floated above his head as he met his eyes. "Look at my eyes." He did what he sent through Haki into his vision. "Do I look scary?"
His «Mirage» technique caused Shirahoshi's face to pale and tremble as she crawled backwards again. However, he could not because Amon grabbed his chin with his hand.
"Sorry, do I really look scary?"
"G-teacher, b-stop— "
Amon's cold soft tone interrupted him. However, from Shirahoshi's point of view, she saw her eyes flaming and a demonic expression appearing on her face.
"I'm asking you, Shirahoshi."
The girl did not answer.
In an overwhelming serenity of fear, for the first time in a decade, Shirahoshi closed her eyes and began to cry loudly.
Amon smiled gently.
Without wasting a second, he grabbed the air in front of him and retracted his grip. Like a stretch of gum, something started to come out of Shirahoshi's body as her eyes opened and a horrified expression took hold of her face.
He tried to say something, but his words stuck in his throat.
He tried again, but when his eyes saw his soul being plucked out by his death angel, only a tremendous scream of pain came out from him. Meanwhile, the man he called 'Teacher' gave him an expressionless look as his eyes trembled in the light of betrayal.
From the scene below, people could not even see the expression of her pain or hear her screams. It was like he was a ghost.
The pain lasted for almost a minute, and when it was over, Shirahoshi felt relieved when her last breath left her and she slumped onto the bubble floor.
Amon wasted no time and ordered Kiyu to open the portal to the Dimension Door before stepping inside him.
Inside, it was the same place he had been to a few seconds ago, only all the Marines and pirates from his faction battle were gone.
He dispersed the bubbles and jumped down, letting Shirahoshi's corpse fall to the ground with a thud, as he crouched down with his pink round soul.
Then, he pushed the soul into his chest.
—★—
Amon actually did not plan to kill Shirahoshi when he started training her. But, because of what Imu did, he inevitably changed his plans a little.
He went to Fish-Man Island with the intention to seize Shirahoshi and teleport before scaring her and then killing her there. However, he changed his mind in the middle of the road.
If Shirahoshi suddenly disappeared, there were only a few suspects. It didn't take long for them to realize that it was Amon. In that case, the entire Fish-Man race would fight him in this war. Which is a big ban. After all, there are millions of Fishmen all over the world.
So she asked her parents politely before taking her away. Now, he only needed to make a clone of it and everything would be fixed.
This was his mind as Amon cleared away the desires, desires, and ambitions of Shirahoshi's soul, filling it with his own at the same time. He stopped thinking and instead began to observe the pieces of his memories.
It was a childish memory from his childhood, and his memories with him. Knowing that the soul contains only the innermost/valuable memory of a person, Amon could not say that he did not feel the least bit guilty. But he had to remind himself, guilt wouldn't make him stronger. So, with Seimei Kikan's movements, he stopped his guilt and focused on his current job.
It took a few minutes in reality but Amon felt like he had just spent a lifetime because finally, his entire soul sank inside his chest and he let out a sigh of relief.
However, "Fiuh, it's hard—" his relief was stifled in his throat as intense pain suddenly jumped all over his body and soul. His heart felt like it had been pierced with a million needles and his soul seemed to want to explode.
"What the fuck...?"
That was all Amon could say before his vision went blank.
His Future Vision was unable to see the next few minutes, and he did not have the extra attention to use it while in the process. Because if he could, he would not absorb Shirahoshi's soul just in hopes of controlling some sea lords if he knew what else came with that power.
….
Amon awakens the next time with a worried voice of Kiyu and Raki from beside him. He groaned and grabbed his head with one hand.
"Who is talking?" Grumbling with words, he sat down from the ground, his brows furrowing as he gritted his teeth.
"...You're finally awake." Raki, who was crouching beside him, said in a dry voice even though her eyes were wet. "I thought you were dead, what made you lose consciousness?"
"Oh hi, what's wrong, brother." Amon said, his frown deepened as he looked around. "That voice doesn't seem to belong to you..."
It was night time and he was not in the door dimension anymore, and was instead lying on the shore. But since Alabasta was in the Door Dimension, Kiyu must have brought Raki from there.
"Can't you hear it?" Amon asked, turning to Raki with a frown. "...no, it doesn't seem to."
"What are you talking about?" Raki asked as she wiped her eyes with her sleeves. "Tell me if you're okay or not. You've been passed out for hours."
Ignoring his last words, Amon searched for the right words.
"simply put. There's a new voice in my head.no." He corrected himself by shaking his head. "There .... ancient sounds around us, present in everything, present in the essence of the world itself, I guess. That voice told me something."
"Huh?"
"This ..." The frown on Amon's forehead deepened. "...Tell me to die."
Then clicked . As Amon's eyes widened. A second passed before he grinned like a madman.
"Everything sounds, aha."
From around him, The Voice of the World told him to commit suicide.
Amon did not expect this development.
