One week later …
Galang quickened his pace as he heard a stifled moan from Amara's treatment room. Then it immediately broke through once he reached the door, and immediately went inside there. And the man was stunned when he found two nurses, plus Arfan and Mytha who were trying to wake the girl.
Two nurses held her in front, and Arfan propped her back behind her, helping to hold her on the other side as the girl leaned against the pillow she had stacked before.
The two female nurses along with Mytha helped her change clothes while Arfan retreated away. So did Galang who turned his gaze in the other direction.
Sounds interrupted treatment that day. Of course, Amara certainly still feels a lot of pain with the injury and it is not an easy thing to go through as well as the days before.
His neck brace has been removed, making his condition more apparent now. Scars of scratches on the face from car glass fragments that broke during the collision became the most obvious wounds in addition to casts and verbs on the hands and feet.
His shoulders were still trembling and sobs still sounded out from his mouth. Also his face still looks wet because of his tears that continue to flow.
Galang approached him after they were done, and the nurses left, without turning their eyes at all. His heart still ached every time he saw her like this.
“See? There is Galang.” said Mytha who combed her long hair slowly.
“Hai Galang? You're home from work?” he asked Galang with his deft hand to apply cream on his daughter's face.
“Iya Bu.”
“Hmmm ...” Mytha glanced at the wall clock that showed it was almost five in the afternoon.
“Today there was a meeting outside the office, so ...”
“It's done?"
"It's Mom."
"Fluent?"
"Currently."
"Thank God. Don't let your work be interrupted because you often go back and forth here huh?"
"Not at all, Mom."
"alright. You are beautiful." Mytha finished her work.
"Tonight Mama can not accompany you, Akmal has activities outside the school and soon he comes home, while Papa Wira is going out of town. That okay?" mytha asked her son.
Amara also nodded.
"Well, then Mama's coming home now huh?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"You need to heal fast, so we can get back together again, okay?" The woman kissed her daughter's temple.
"Mas I go home first." Then he turned to Arfan.
"Oh, yes. Did someone pick you up?"
"There's a driver."
"All right then."
"I'm saying goodbye." He walked towards the door. "Go first, huh Galang?"
"Yes ma'am, please."
***
"Papa must go home first, and then come back again. Is there anything you want Papa to bring?" Arfan is approaching.
"No need to." Amara replied in a loud voice.
"Well then. You're okay with being left behind?" arfan said to Galang.
"It's okay sir."
"Well, just a minute."
"Yes." Yeah." Galang.
Long time is also okay, even if you can not go back, so I can talk a lot with Ara. But that's impossible, right? It's up to you. Inner Galang monologue.
"Why stay first?" Arfan turned back to Amara, and the daughter nodded. Then he came out.
"Ehm .." Galang approached and sat on the edge of the bed as usual.
"Wanna eat?" bargain later.
"Udah."
"Want a drink?"
"Now too."
"Keep what dong?" The man is straying.
"Nothing to do."
"Hm …."
"Why does Brother keep going back and forth here?" Amara couldn't bear to not talk about it.
For days he let the man come. The morning before work, the afternoon at rest, or the afternoon when he came home from work. Until often he spent the night to accompany him there with his father Arfan. And at the end of the week even Galang accompanied him all the time without moving any more than to look for food.
Although they had not spoken much about anything, but the man's attention and attitude towards him was completely different from usual. And that confused Amara.
"Because I want to." Error answering.
"Why do you keep coming here?"
"I told you because I wanted to." The man repeated his answer.
"Ck!" Amara clucked in annoyance.
"That's what you keep asking?"
"Because I didn't answer."
"I answered earlier."
"Sister's answer is unclear."
"It's not clear where it is? I'll answer if I'm going to come here."
"Lack of work."
"Actually I'm busy anyway, but I'm trying to get the job done on time so I can come with you." Galang.
Mara opened her mouth.
"Can that be? Then you'll be cured soon." Galang chuckled again.
"I mean won't it be a problem with Brother Clarra?"
"Why should it be a problem with Clarra?"
"Kok why?"
"Later you fight, your relationship is troubled, and that's because of me."
"Times?"
"Let me be wronged again."
Galang. Why does this feel so funny? She must have been very frightened thinking there would be a problem with her relationship with Clarra which ended last week. While the girl did not know anything, and she also did not tell him at all.
Deliberately, Galang chose to delay talking about this problem because he did not want to leave a bad impression. But it seems like a good time.
"No one will blame you" he said, and he came closer.
"No way. Brother Clarra's time can be like that?"
"It can, and there's no problem with that."
"No lie." Amara looked at his face, and Galang shook his head.
"Or Big Brother just don't know how Kak Clarra feels if Big Brother is like this."
Galang did not intend to deny.
"She must be jealous, just don't say anything."
"Times?"
"Yes. When he's not jealous knowing his girlfriend just met his ex? For days, staying again? If it wasn't for Clarra's weirdo, it would have been for the weird one."
He laughed until his face looked up.
"Laughs?"
"Yes, you're funny. It still hurts."
Amara grunted loudly.
"How will this matter be if our relationship is over?" Then the man said.
Amara looked back at him, but now she was silent.
"We decided to split up."
"We broke up." Galang clarified his words.
Amara bit her lips hard.
"So there will be no problem if even for example I keep you company all the time" said the man, although he tried to calm down but still his heart felt a little afraid.
"I wouldn't dare go too far if we were still together, but I can't turn a blind eye to your circumstances either. So I decided to end it all, not knowing what would happen next. But at least I didn't torture him by letting him wait for me without certainty."
Amara thinks.
"Trust me, no problems would arise if I accompanied you often."
"Sister decided Brother Clarra for me? Because of my circumstances?"
Galang shook his head.
"Sister left Brother Clarra and sacrificed your relationship for me like this?"
"No, it's not that. I mean …."
"Do you think that's good? Will it impress me and flatter me?"
"Ma."
"A man who left his girlfriend for me like this?"
Galang moved closer, then he grabbed Amara's hand, but the girl immediately brushed him off.
"We are women, you don't deserve to treat us that way. Chosen according to criteria, seen what you want, then abandoned if we're not what you want."
"It's not so Ra."
"Are all men such evil that we women must always sacrifice feelings in order for you to be happy?"
Amara shook her head.
"Or am I that sad that I was chosen when my brother's heart was filled because of my current state?"
"Not Ra."
"Keep what?"
Steady for a moment.
"Don't tell me that's all you do because you love me?"
He almost opened his mouth to answer.
"The brother feels for me it is not love, but pity."
"See my situation now? I'm powerless, I can't do anything. Even to wake up, I need someone else's help. To eat, I need someone else's hand to feed me. And Brother feels what is this Sister doing out of love? I think my brother's feeling is wrong."
"Imara!!" Galang growled in frustration, but he tried to hold back. Don't want this thing to turn into chaos again and he'll again lose his chance.
"Sister Clarra it's not appropriate for you to treat me like this."
"And you think Clarra deserves to keep me lying?" Reversing his Word.
"She deserves someone else who loves her, who can treat her the way she should. And it wasn't me."
"I was once happy with him, but part of me couldn't accept his presence. I also want to have feelings for her like any other lover but I can't."
"I've also decided to build something new, and we try to keep things in line but what happens? In the end I always come back to you, when as a lover I think he is perfect. Then what's wrong with me? What's wrong with my feelings?"
"I ended my relationship with him not because of you, or your circumstances. Although I admit that I want to accompany you through these difficult times. Accompanying you with whatever happens after this. But I actually did it for myself. To do the right thing by freeing Clarra, and letting her choose her own life path. Then does that make me a heartless man?"
Amara pulled and exhaled slowly.
"Do you know what I feel? You think two years is easy for me to forget about you? Or everything we've ever been through?"
Galang shook his head. "No Ra. I didn't get through it as easily as you thought. And if you think I'm doing this without feeling, you're wrong. Because in reality I'm sacrificing my own feelings."
Amara clenched her mouth tightly.
"You know what I'm most afraid of right now?" Galang again leaned his body towards Amara.
"Rejection like this. Not because of what I have sacrificed, but because what will return is gone out of reach. And I'm sure it's going to hurt more than ever. You know why? Because I've been expecting a lot."
"So who's really pathetic here? You think you're feeling pathetic? Just look at me. I was begging for love with an ex-lover who left me two years ago. But don't know if I'll ever get it again, because it looks like whatever I'm doing is useless."
"But at least I tried, right? Whatever happens later I won't care. And I wouldn't ask you to come back now, but at least let me keep coming back here, because for now, that's all I can do. And I made sure it wouldn't affect my relationship with anyone. I'm single again now." then he chuckles, though his voice sounds bitter.
"Silver brother." Amara patted the man's thigh with her left fist.
"Hmm .. indeed. Being with you always makes me a silly person."
"Isn't that a bad influence?"
"Yes, it's bad. But I like that kind of bad influence."
Amara grunted loudly.
"So don't worry anymore, because Clarra won't be angry like that."
"Hum?" Amara frowned.
"I know he met you before the accident and said a lot."
"Continue?"
"And he felt guilty about it."
Amara recalled the final moments before the collision happened. And what Clarra said made her think that her father had ordered people to beat Galang.
"I fought Papa because of that."
"Why?"
"I think Papa told people to hit Big Brother."
Galang.
"I was wrong?'
"You are wrong."
"So who hit Brother?"
"You know too."
"Hmm ... someone else?"
"Yes, you could say that."
"I was wrong with Papa."
"Indeed, just realized?"
"Hu'um." Suddenly, Amara felt very scared. His forehead to a loud cry while remembering his words to the father.
"Why again? It hurt?"
Amara shook her head.
"I was wrong to be angry with Papa" said the girl.
"You know, I told you already."
"But I just realized."
"Continue?"
"Is Papa angry with me?"
"I-iyaaa .. It seems like Papa you are angry." lied Galang, with his silly idea.
"Masa? But not visible?"
"Papa you're just pretending. He waits until you're healed, and he'll make the calculations." The guy with his shit.
"No lie."
"Seriously."
"I have to hurry up and apologize?"
"Oo yes, it is."
"Before you get angry again?" Amara remembered her father's angry expression when they had a fight last week before the accident, and it felt terrible now, and she started to panic.
"Yes." Yeah."
"Mr …"
"Don't be afraid, I'll stand by you against your Papa."
"Really?"
"Yes, I'll explain what makes you think that way."
"But Papa will be angry with Brother Clarra?"
"Not going to."
"Aren't you sure?"
"Related." Galang moved to the girl's side, then reached out to embrace her little shoulder.
"If Papa is angry?"
"I'm handling it."
"Could that?" Amara.
"Can."
"Now dare to face Papa?"
"Dare to." A little puffing up the chest.
"Compense."
"Little." The man laughed happily.
His chest felt a little relieved by this state, and he felt that this was a pretty good start.
Then they were silent for quite a long time.
"So, Papa, you're not here anymore?" Back to talking.
"I don't know."
"Usually .. no."
"Hu'um."
"Create …."
"I sleepy sister" said Amara and her eyes began to look, maybe the effect of the drug she took a while ago.
"Mr …"
"You're sleeping."
"okay." He pulled his hand from the girl's shoulder.
"Want me to put down one of his pillows so you can lie down?" The man offered.
"Can."
Then Galang took a pillow and helped Amara lie down. Though with great difficulty, yet he managed to do so. Then the man fixed the bed of the blanket that covered his body.
"Sleep, I'll stay here."
"Hm …"
"If there's anything call me."
"Yes." Yeah."
"I'm here" said Galang again who retreated and dropped his tall body on the sofa.
And Amara nodded her head.
Without waiting any longer the girl had already closed her eyes and she was sleeping so deeply. Leaving Galang with his thoughts alone and his feelings that begin to have hope.
