Exams and Graduation

The day awaited also arrived. Today and the next four days are graduation week. All students who arrive at school on time. The bell went in. Me and Alya are not in the same exam room. The room for all the classes was randomized and we sat one bench that was separated a bit away from the other bench.

On the first day of the exam is a geography lesson. There is no question of the sky at all. I who have studied and prepared everything confidently answered all the questions on the paper. The atmosphere of the examination room was quiet unlike the usual class. All students focus on doing. But, there are only among those who still look for gaps, answering questions for the sake of problems in any way.

In a day there are three exams. So there are fifteen subjects tested in these five days. I answered all about what I had learned in school and the books I had read. It doesn't feel like the last test and the time is up.

Time keeps going. Until the last day of the graduation exam. I very confidently answered all about it. When all is over and the week of exams is over. I felt relieved and satisfied, because all the material I learned was all on the exam questions I did.

After the week of the graduation exam, we were suspended for two weeks before graduation. I am very much looking forward to the results of the tests I did. But at the same time I also felt sad because soon I had to move to a metropolitan city. I bought a train ticket to Lumiatia and a plane ticket from there to the city. The date of the train ticket that means the day after my graduation date. Means, I only have two weeks to spend my time in this village with my friends.

During my time off, I used to play at Alya's house with Ellie, Ethan and Gras. We chatted as usual and I did not see any expression from them after knowing that I would leave this village in a long time. I told Alya. Maybe Alya hasn't told them.

One bright day. I received an envelope from the post box in front of my house. After I opened it turned out that the envelope contained a graduation invitation letter in it. It was written in the letter that I was declared a graduate and the graduation ceremony started at seven in the morning until one in the afternoon. The show was not too long. I can still use the time after the event to say goodbye to my friends.

My graduation day has arrived. I was wearing a neat shirt, a toga robe and a graduation hat with my parents walking towards school. Not to forget I also brought the book I borrowed that time in my bag. When we got near the school, we saw a crowd around us that also led to the school. They look happy and proud to walk with their parents. But I was sad when my schoolmates were walking with both parents, whereas Alya was just walking with her mother. I who saw him from afar did not feel good to call and greet him.

The clock shows seven o'clock. The show will start soon. I got the third row from the front. The row of graduation seats with parents separated by a red carpet spread out in the middle. I can't believe that Alya and I have a seat next to each other.

“Time goes by so fast. I think yesterday I just gave you a snack,” said Alya smiling at me in her very neat clothes.

“I still remember, when we discussed the sky. Ellie, Ethan, Gras. All the moments we had together. I will miss him a lot,” I reply also smiled at him, then my head lowered because of these memories.

“Why are you sad? We will always hope for the best for you. I will always wait for you,” Alya said calming me down.

“It's a special day. Be happy,” he added full of smiles and make me calmer.

After the ceremony, the long-awaited moment arrived. Graduates and graduates are called one by one forward to the podium for the submission of the graduation charter. Alya was called the first one to fit his alphabet. I saw it from my seat and was proud to see it. The radiant look on his face was full of smiles with his neat clothes in front of the podium, inviting the attention of all the audience in this room. There was a soft talk from the audience around me saying that he was an angel who was sent down to this planet. Then he sat down next to me and waited until my name was called.

“Professor Vled. I'm so proud of you,” he told me.

All this time no student knew the name of that geography teacher. Usually he is only called by the name “Prof” only. I was surprised and glad to know his name. The one I idolized said a sentence that made me very happy. After shaking hands I returned to my seat. As I stepped down from the podium, I saw the pleasure and pride of my parents. And Alya too. His eyes widened and his dimples formed. He smiled and was proud of me. I sat down next to him again.

Time to read the best student awards. A voice called my name as the best student. I was surprised too. Alya who was next to me smiled widely and was very proud of me. And so did my parents. After that is the closing agenda.

After the event was over, I had to go to class first to meet up with my friends. There we said goodbye to each other and sang together. I who sang also moved to see my friends who will be separated and will have their respective activities.

As I crossed the library, I saw the library mother in her neat clothes waiting for someone. I greeted him and went to him and said goodbye to him. I chatted lightly with him.

“I'm sorry I just went to the library in the last moments of school,” I told him with the book I had borrowed in my hand.

“Oh yes. That book. You can take it,” reply library mother whose eyes see the book I hold.

“Hah? But doesn't this have a school?” I was surprised and confused.

“Iya. But the rules are different. Only the book can be owned by the student when he has found it,” he replied explaining with a smile.

“Thank you very much, Ma'am,” I said to her with great joy.

I replied with a smile. Before we parted, I hugged the library mother. I'm so grateful to him. Without him I wouldn't be what I am now. Thanks to it I have the confidence of upholding the truth above human greed.
