The next day the weather was not favorable. When I woke up from my sleep, I opened the window and no sunlight came in. It's all covered in thick clouds up there. Soon it rained. I who was excited to start my first day in this city suddenly canceled all my plans to go around my house today.
I had abandoned my intention to go around but did not break the hope that the weather would soon be clear. I could only wait from inside the house, watch television and occasionally read books about the sky.
Time after time keeps going. I'm tired of this can't stand to get out of the house. The weather was still dark and the rain was still falling. Either stop until when. Looks like I'm really staying home tonight.
And sure enough, it was getting dark while the rain had not stopped. This lackluster me went back to bed and saved all my energy and spirit for tomorrow. Looks like the sky will be very clear tomorrow morning. I who had just been lying on the bed shortly afterwards fell asleep to the island of Kapok.
Birds chirping and the bustling urban atmosphere woke me up from sleep. Now the sun will rise, but I see from the window many people have gone and trespassed here. A city that never sleeps. I came out of my room and cleaned up to look around my house.
After that I asked my parents for permission that I would go look around this city. They let him and I get out of the house with a little money in case. Then I took a walk around the area where I lived. I also looked to the right and left around me to get to know this place.
I walked around and saw people interacting with each other. Not a few of them also looked at me cynically and astonished maybe because I was new here. But I don't mind it. I continued walking while getting to know these places.
In a corner up ahead, I saw a father leaning his body against a building wall. It looks like he is selling and just wagging his merchandise and hoping someone buys it. I went to him and wondered what he was selling. It was so sad when people just passed by the man and went into the store to shop.
When I approached him, he saw me and Langung offered me his wares.
“Hey, Son! You want to buy it?” said the man while offering it to me.
“This what?” my many.
There was not long a child who wanted to come here by attracting a mother. I who asked looked directly at them. Same with the guy who sells it. It seemed that the child was interested in the food sold by the man.
“Mother, Mother! Let's look there!” tell the little boy to his mother.
“Pelan-pelan, son,” said his mother whose hand was pulled by the little boy.
When they got close, the little boy screamed he wanted it. It is only natural that children are interested because they like lollipops.
“I want this, Mom!” yelled the boy.
“Nak...” His mother brought her mouth closer to the child.
“How about we search in store only. There are more choices and more delicious,” said quietly his mother but we can still hear it.
“No want! I want this one!” the boy shouted fussily and made people land on him.
“Come, Son. Not hygenic here!” his mother said by raising her tone.
Then he pulled his son away and ignored me and the man selling it. The man could only smile then lowered his head and was a little saddened. I saw him as a fan and was upset with the woman. It is impolite to speak out especially words that offend others.
I saw him being bowed while wiping his sweat that has been pouring since. It was very sunny and warm today. I also tried to calm him down. I also comforted him and I was sad to see him buy the candy.
“Quiet, Sir. Maybe the woman does not have adab,”, I said to him with a slightly upset tone to the woman who had left.
“Iya, Son. It's been a few times. I got used to this,” replied the man and instantly startled me.
Then I bought some lollipop candy that he sold and before long he tidied it all up. I was confused as to why he had repackaged his wares so quickly because it was this morning.
“Thank you, son,” said the man and smiled at me.
I who was still confused could only see him tidying things up. Sometimes I help her too. He was very grateful to me. But he himself was also confused with me because very rarely there are people like me here.
“You're new here, yes?” he asked curiously.
“Iya. You know that?” I replied and we were both confused.
“Of course. City people are nothing like you, son. Even if there is, I rarely see it. You must be a villager,” said and explained.
I smiled and watched her talk.
“Thanks to you I can go home early. I'm so grateful to you, son,” said the man smiling.
“Malka, greetings!” I introduced myself to him.
“Pow, people call it that,”.
After everything is done. I followed him back to his house. We walked together and talked lightly. Pow carried his belongings in a bag he carried. Pow also introduced me to this town a little bit. But more talk was filled with Pow's questions about my story living in the village.
We chatted together as we set foot into Pow's house. To the point that all this was late with this pleasant talk. We shared stories and excitement at our respective places.
Pow told me that he had lived in the city for a long time. He lived in a small town like Lumiatia. But when he grew up, his family decided to move to Centra to raise the standard of his life. But all are inversely proportional to expectations.
He also told me about his job as a lollipop candy seller. He had previously applied for many types of jobs, but all were rejected outright. Moreover, he was not a smart enough person. So it occurred to him to sell sweets to the children.
In the past, the sale of this kind of candy was in great demand by people. Especially when it still has a garden in this place. But the park has been displaced and replaced with high-rise buildings and shops. So Pow has nowhere to sell his merchandise candy. This is exacerbated by the lack of candy stores that now have more taste options and are more neatly packed. Unlike the candy made by Pow which is still traditionally made by his own hands.
“Oh yes,” said Pow who suddenly remembered something.
“What's up?” I was wondering at him.
“Do you already know that there have been various kinds of job openings in this city?” ask Pow.
“Iya I already know,” I replied to him.
“Do not miss it. Too bad you wasted it,” Pow explained to me.
“Alright,” reply me to him.
