First Day of Work

Today is the closing day of training that has been running for three months. I'm not behind the building. I was relaxing and eating some snacks. Shortly after, Jack arrived.

“You didn't follow the closure?” ask Jack wonder.

“Only formality. What are you doing here?” answer me and ask Jack.

“Why should I follow him too while my friend is sitting here?” he said it and I understood that Jack didn't want to follow the closure either.

“Drink?” I offered Jack a glass.

“Tak problems. Later,” he replied.

“You will continue to stay here?” ask Jack seriously.

“Entahlah. Maybe after my contract and my father expires, we will return to the village,” reply me to him with my shoulders rising upwards like a confused person

“You don't want to stay here forever? Meniti career and looking for a partner then success and you will live happily,” asked Jack wonder and looked at me.

“That's where I was born. There's no way I'll blow it,” I replied.

“Yes. I just remembered. Eee…. You have— Forget,” reply Jack in a slow voice.

“What did you just say?” many confused.

“No. It's nothing,” retorted while shaking his head.

Jack and I kept talking. Jack also ordered a drink and we had a drink together. Time keeps going. The closing show is coming to an end. Jack and I went to that closing place before it was over. The closure ended with a speech from Knox, president of the company. Not infrequently his eyes glanced at me with his tongue that continued to swing.

After the speech ended, the closing ceremony and our training period ended. Jack and I walked to the front door and went home. Next week we start working as we should. For the placement of the divisions we were all called to attend to his office the day after tomorrow.

Today is the time for division. I went to the office and it was crowded. After waiting a long time I was called to his room.

“Good. Malka Souvenir,” Knox said as she looked through my files again and looked like a confused person.

“Syahnivir, Sir. Sorry,” I politely reply to him.

“Sorry my tongue slipped,” he said and his hand while turning my paper.

“Iya, Sir. It's okay,” I said with a blank look.

Knox looked back at my file I had sent during job registration. It seems that he himself is also confused to put the position of his employees in office.

“You are good at geography around the sky and astronomy around space?” knox asked while looking at the paper and I could not see his face because it was blocked by the paper he was holding.

“Yes, Sir,” I replied a little firmly but not loudly.

“Good, Malka Syahnivir. You serve as the Head of the Sky and Space Technology Research Division. You're going to need an assistant. Tomorrow you will know,” he said.

“Te-Thank you very much, Sir!” I replied with excitement and Knox was a little surprised.

“Pacify yourself, young man.”

I'm getting ready to leave the room.

“Do not tell anyone until I finish speaking tomorrow,”.

“Oke.”

After that I left the room. Outside the room was Jack waiting. He got his turn after me. I also hope that he gets a position that suits his wishes. I went out of the building and rushed home. There is nothing I do but as usual.

The next day we were all ordered to gather at the meeting hall of the building. By the time I arrived there was already crowded with company officials there. I met Jack again. Jack and I sat next to each other this time. Of concern to many is the list of people who will serve as the head of the company's division.

Shortly after, the activity began. Starting with the opening of the host then arrived the moment of waiting. Knox read out his speech and continued with a reading of the company's list of division heads.

“Now let me read you a list of company division heads. For now, there are only five divisions within this company. But over time, many divisions can change.”

“Good. The first..“.

Knox read the list carefully. I didn't pay much attention to the names he mentioned. I don't recognize them either. Until the last list Knox mentioned my name.

“And the latter, who got the position of Head of Sky and Space Technology Research Division, Malka Syahnivir. Youngest person to serve as division head.”

“All division heads I have mentioned, please to advance to the front.”

I put my foot on the hall stage. The sound of applause still rumbles here. After that we all lined up and greeted the audience. I am among those who are far more knowledgeable and experienced than I am. I was like a child in front of them. I was also a little embarrassed because I was the youngest among them, mostly three-headed, while my age was not two-headed.

Soon we returned to our seats. Knox resumed his speech. This activity ended with his instructions for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first day of work. But we, the division head, have not been allowed to go home because there are still important meetings.

After all was done and everyone left the hall, we were directed to the corporate president meeting room that we had never been to before. There are quite a lot of meeting rooms in this building. Each division has its own meeting room. But the meeting room we entered this time was different from all that. This place is as magnificent as inside the palace.

We entered the room and sat in the designated seat. Our seating plan was like a conference with one long table and a seat on his left right side, as well as one “singgasan” on the front of the table as the meeting leader place is the president of the company which is none other than Knox.

“Alright, congratulations on serving as division head. At this meeting it seems like not much will be discussed, for now focus on getting to know each other among you all,” said Knox opened a meeting session.

“Before that I introduce about this company. This company is one of the companies I created after one previous company, which is Terra Science Concernment. The company includes scientists from all corners of the planet. After the sky phenomenon of that time. We agreed to create a new company, Knox Corp, where you work today. The purpose of this company is the development and production of human needs tools but with environmentally friendly energy that is sky energy.”

“Energy sky?” ask one of the division heads. All of us who heard it were also confused.

“Later you will know. Now is not the time,” replied Knox. The room became silent for a moment.

“Someone wants to introduce themselves first?” ask Knox to all of us.

“How about we start from the youngest first,” replied one of them.

“Alright, please young man,” Knox told me.

Then I introduced myself.

“My name is Malka Syahnivir. Just call me Malka. I was eighteen years old and I came from a village not so far from Lumiatia. Here I serve as the Head of the Sky and Space Technology Research Division.”

“Wait. You're eighteen? You serious?” knock one of them.

“Iya,” answer.

“Your age is far away, young man,” reply.

“We? Save it for yourself, Old Man.”

A woman interrupts the man's previous words. The atmosphere became a little tense but Knox let it go.

“Include yourself, beautiful lady,” chatter one of those men.

“Do not tease me!”

“Ma—Sorry.”

The woman introduced herself.

“Call me Cathy. Catherine Fournier's. I am from the city of Pharlouse. Head of Urban Planning Division,” he said with a little cynicism.

“Beautiful and magnificent city,” Knox continued.

Suddenly I want to pee. I think I drank a lot without realizing it. I'm allowed to leave the room but not with a reason to pee, but rather something important for a moment. Good thing Knox trusted me and let me out of the room for a while. I went out of the room and the meeting was still going on.

The large building and the sheer amount of space left me a little lost here. There was no direction to the toilet at all. Although many rooms that have an open concept or not owned. This made me feel more dizzy because this place is so big. Each room is limited only by a small room marker each room.

I ran and finally found it. The toilet is located in every corner of the building. I was quite surprised by the very luxurious toilets just like in every corner of this building. I urinated immediately and then returned to the meeting room.

When I went back to the meeting room I met some office servants who were cleaning the floor. “Sials. Why didn't I show up when I had trouble finding a toilet?”

I put my feet up a little relaxed, not in a hurry. It turned out that the meeting room was quite far from the toilet. Not infrequently also I saw the entire contents of this building that I passed while adapting to the new environment.

I got outside the meeting room and then I went inside. As I reached for my seat, Knox spoke.

“It seems you all know. I hope we can all work together and build this company and planet Terra for the better. Meeting this time. You guys are welcome home.”

Then we all got up from our seats honoring the meeting leader leaving the room. I who have not been able to sit directly stand up again.

“Good, Sir!”

After Knox left the room we all left the meeting room and went back to our homes.
