High School Friend

This time my departure was accompanied by my father to the company. It's pretty far from my house. The company is located in the heart of Centra. The traffic here is a bit heavy. Looks like we're gonna be a little late. My father and I went to Knox Corp using the transportation pride of the city that is Pinishi.

Looks like a crowd from a distance. A very tall building and people were also confused by its existence that stood upright like it was only built overnight. My father and I got out of the vehicle and went to the crowd. It turns out that there are already many people waiting for the selection of the job.

The job my father registered was no joke. The jobs offered are company official seats. Not everyone can register it. Only the best graduates are able to get the chair. Even if there is a dilapidated person who registered, he will be immediately eliminated by other contestants.

I who saw the selection process was a little confused and astonished. The selection looks like a talent contest. Just by interviewing and showing his ability. I got a sequence that's still pretty long. I could only wait in the selection waiting room while my father waited in the special waiting room for the introduction.

“Malka Syahnivir.”

Looks like my name's been called. I went straight to the interview room and there was a man in a neat suit with papers in his hand. I sat down relaxed and calm. I have to throw away the tension.

“Aready?” ask the person who will interview me.

“Ya,” answered me full sure.

The interview this time was filled with questions that were not confusing and I could answer them all. And now it's time to show my skills. I'm good at examining various conditions and overcoming them. The guy gave me some problem scenarios and I was told to find a solution. That looks easy to me.

I walked out of the interview room and met my father who was waiting in front of the building. Now we can only wait until contacted by the company. We finally went home. I feel very relieved and very confident about the results later. I want to work to fill my time so that it is not in vain.

Day by day keep going. A week after the selection day my father was contacted by the company. And sure enough, I got accepted into the company and got a pretty high position. I don't know what division I got until I come to the office tomorrow. All my father received was information that I was accepted by the company and asked to come tomorrow.

I'm so glad to hear that. My time in this city will not be in vain. Moreover, our long stay here which is about five years or even nearly six years. Tomorrow is the signing of a contract and meeting directly with the head of this enormous company.

The next day I went back to the company to sign my contract. By the time I got there was president of Knox Corp. His name is the same as his company name Knox. I got acquainted with him.

I was welcome to enter his room and sit on the bench that was provided. I was given a piece of contract paper by him. I read my contract paper slowly and carefully.

“Before taking office I will undergo physical training for three months.”

I read the sentence at the bottom of the sheet. I was a little surprised and confused as to what that statement meant.

“What does this statement mean?” I asked Knox in surprise.

“Before you take office you will do training,” he replied casually.

“For what?” I returned to him confused.

“I don't want my officials to have sense but no muscles. The world is tough, man. You need self-protection even if you feel safe,” he said explaining to me with his slightly rancid appearance.

“Good. After all just three months,” I said.

“Please sign the contract. You will serve for five years before being extended,” Knox told me as he handed me a pen.

“So I could have been more than five years?” many wonder.

“Iya. It depends on your productivity and reputation. I will offer it back later at the end of the term,” he explained to me.

I also signed the contract. I'll be in physical training from tomorrow. After those three months I'm going to take office and that's when this company starts running. I shook hands with Knox then left the room. There were already some people waiting after me.

I walked out of the building and almost reached the main gate of this building. Accidentally and unplannedly I met Jack. He was also accepted to work for this company. We greeted each other and had a short chat. He lived on the east side of the city alone. His parents still work in the village. Jack moves to the city to improve his standard of living and wants to become a successful person.

After a light and short chat in front of the gate. I parted ways with Jack. Jack still has to meet with Knox for his contract signing. All of us who are accepted here do not know yet what will get a job in what field. But Knox spoke to me that I would be placed in the research development division. He doesn't even know the right name for it. He will have his first meeting after training. That's what he said.

I've returned to my house. My father and mother were waiting for me and asked me how I was there. I told them everything and they were proud of me. I just need to wait tomorrow for the first day of physical training. Looks like I'll also meet Jack back there.

The cloudy and slightly dark weather welcomed my first day of training. The temperature is pretty cool here. Not as usual, it was hot and warm. Few people go on foot and all use vehicles. Maybe they want to be on their guard so as not to get wet when it suddenly rains.

I went to the company field which turned out to be located just behind the main building. When I left there the rain flushed the contents. But it all subsided when I almost got to the location. There are a lot of people waiting there. His handsome and authoritative appearance enveloped all of them. They were all chosen people, including me.

I got out of my vehicle and approached them all. Training has not started. Thankfully I wasn't late. Traffic was very heavy. Denser than usual.

Jack was there. I approached her and as usual I filled in with conversations with her. While training begins.

“I don't think I work in the same place as you,” Jack said to me with a smile.

“Iya. Me either. We are all successful people,” I reply with full confidence and enthusiasm.

“You've followed martial arts before?” ask Jack to wonder.

Before I answer the question someone comes and starts training immediately. Training begins with introductions and some basic beginnings. Each person showed his martial ability to know his own abilities. I saw Jack gasping for breath because he had never learned martial arts at all.

Now it's my turn. I showed everything I had learned even though some had forgotten. Jack who saw it was so impressed with my abilities as well as the others. It turned out that many of them did not know martial arts at all and saw my abilities that had been said to be good. The coach thumbs up to me and some of them clap at me.

They were amazed by my martial action. Although some people are the same as me. Yet only one-tenth of the total people took part in this training. Then it's time for some basic training. I followed the instructions and body of the coach. So too with the others. Soon we all rested for a few minutes.

“How did you do that earlier? You've studied before?” jack asked full of wonder to me while wiping his sweat with a small towel.

“Iya. I had time to learn martial arts with Alya and my friends,” I replied with a drinking bottle in my grasp.

“What? Alya can martial arts?” jack asked with a very surprised reaction.

“Iya. Is that wrong?” I replied and I was confused by him.

“No problem. I just don't suspect it. You're very lucky, Mal. It feels good to be like you,” he said then he patted me on the shoulder.

“You have said that many times,” I told him.

“You envy me again, Mal,” replies and makes me a little surprised to hear it.

“One day you will get his share. Maybe you'll even surpass me,” I said to him then embrace him.

“I hope so,” said Jack expectantly.

No conversation makes the break time pass quickly. Now it's time to get back to training. We who attend this training do not feel depressed because we are taught slowly and there is no discernment that is meaningful enough. Just giving us some spirit.

The sky was gone and it was already evening. We prepare to go home to each other. After that I went to the highway to ride Pinishi and then came home. Before I left this place I parted ways with Jack. Our house is in the opposite direction. I'm on the west side while Jack is on the east side. Then I got into the vehicle and rushed home.

The routine continued to repeat for three months. We practice and deepen martial arts. Training is held every weekday as usual.
