83. The Underground Room

The cleaning of the palace ruins is over. There's nothing left. However, some rooms with underground access were revealed. They try to peek down in curiosity. But Zacko forbade anyone from going underground. It is feared that there are demons or witches still hiding. Greg suggested calling Mr. Asgar to check on him. While others stand guard around him.

Before long Asgar comes with Rey riding each other's horses. Asgar explained the position of the hole in the palace. The hole in the kitchen is a storage warehouse for raw food supplies. The hole in the backyard is a dungeon for criminals with severe or death sentences. While the hole in the king's room is a way of escape if pressed for rebellion.

They look at each other. They were worried that there were still demons or witches hiding. Asgar asked for a lot of torches. Rey had people stand guard around the escape hole and the prison pit with torches blocked. Rey, Asgar and Zacko will check the kitchen pit first.

Asgar stepped down with a torch. On the lower side of the stairs he lit a torch on the wall. Rey saw that there were a lot of food supplies that were starting to rot. He told Zacko to get everything out. Zacko quickly climbed up and down carrying 10 people. In just 30 counts, the room was clean. They went out and went to check the prison hole. The torch under the supply warehouse was left lit. Rey ordered to always replace with a new torch every morning and night to prevent the devil from entering.

Now they're ready to check the prison hole. Once down 10 steps, Rey restrained Asgar's shoulder. He felt a dark aura there. Rey's left hand went up the stairs for a while and was cupped with her right hand. It soon formed a ball of light the size of an adult's head. The ball illuminates the way down.

Rey's hand held the flame and attached it to Asgar's chest. Asgar's entire body was engulfed in flames.

" Woaaah...api.... ! " Zacko shouted in surprise.

But Rey remained calm and did the same to Zacko.

Zacko chuckled happily and excitedly ahead of Asgar coming down. Asgar shook his head at Zacko's behavior. Rey installed a fire shield in the middle of the stairs so that no one escaped out.

Zacko checked some empty prisons, there were only bones. The ball of light in front illuminates the hallway. Asgar watched far into the hallway. He grinned feeling a lot of people hiding there.

A silver sword in his right hand.

" Mister Asgar, why must we wear a sword ? Wouldn't you just burn with fire ? " ask Zacko confused.

" The one hiding here is half human. They were the soldiers whose bodies were already possessed by demons "

Zacko was stunned for a moment. Then he took the silver machete from his waist and began to be vigilant. Rey was behind quietly.

The ball of light is moving. The sounds of murmuring and growling are unclear. Suddenly a soldier slashed down from the side. Zacko.

" Hang.... ! " Zacko looked at the soldier. His eyes were red, his skin was pale and his uniform was torn and dirty. It is more correctly referred to as the undead.

" Sir....! " the sword of Asgar fended off the slash of the demon warrior. Zacko.

" Zackooo ! " said Asgar pushed back the demon warrior and cut off his hand.

" Aaaaarrrggghhh. Zacko immediately jumped up while slashing his neck.

" iiiii........ " Rey avoided the head rolling.

Then Rey took out a fire from her hand burning the corpse.

They keep coming in. There's a bunch of demon soldiers attacking together . Some immediately took the opportunity to run away while the three of them were busy. One of the demon soldiers was desperate to reach Rey. However Rey was shielded by a shield of light so that the soldier's hand was instantly reduced to ashes.

Zacko and Asgar work together to slash at each other. The demon soldier did not die completely if only his hands and feet were cut off or stabbed. They're like the undead.

" Cut off his head....! " cried Rey.

Asgar and Zacko try to aim for the head while kicking. After all, the demon warrior could still think even though his body was possessed by demons. They squirm and fight. Actually Rey could have directly exterminated them, but he deliberately let them fight, especially Zacko who is new to magic.

Long enough they also cleared the horde of demon soldiers. Zacko turned to the right and to the left, no more. Yet they heard the commotion and screams in the exit hallway. Zacko ran there. Asgar and Rey followed.

It looked as if 1 demon warrior was burning in circles. While other soldiers also circled around trying to dodge. Zacko laughed as he patted his hard stomach.

" he..ha...ha...ha........... "

Those who heard him laugh immediately rushed at him. Zacko jumped up and dodged. He hacked one of the legs of the demon soldier until the soldier fell. Soon Zacko slashed the head of the fallen soldier.

" Strade... ! "

Asgar held back the sword of the demon warrior that was pointing towards Zacko's back. But the hand of the demon warrior gripped Asgar's hand. Of course the hand immediately caught fire from touching the shield of fire that wrapped Asgar. The demon soldier quickly retreated while trying to extinguish the fire in his hand. Asgar let him and handled the other soldiers.

While the burning demon warrior sees Rey and tries to hug Rey in order to catch fire. That's one wrong thought....

Rey, who knew the warrior's spirit, only showed her hand under the foot of the demon warrior. Instantly the ground appeared shackling the soldier's legs so that they could not move. He screamed and roared until it burned.

The voices were heard by the people above. They were backing away in fear. Greg and his men wield weapons preparing for the unexpected.

On the count of 10, Zacko came out, followed by Rey and Asgar. Rey had already plucked out the fire energy that was the shield of Asgar and Zacko before they came out from underground. So the townspeople don't know about it.

All who waited breathed a sigh of relief and cheered. They were worried something happened to the three people. Thank goodness they came out safe.

There is one more hole that has not been examined. Asgar was sure the hole in the King's room was tipped somewhere else a bit far away. Possibility of being able to penetrate in the forest or outside the city. It's afternoon already. It would be very risky because they did not know how many witches or demons there were in that passageway.

Rey finally put a fire shield under the stairs to prevent anyone from entering the hall. But Rey had secretly sent a small ball of light through the passageway. He just wanted to know where the hallway was.
