148. Demon Bear

About one hour later, the mayor and the residents reached the edge of Mazox forest. The forest is on the southeastern side of the city of Malto, bordered by a stone gorge. The forest looked silent.

The mayor nodded at Gerard. Gerard gave his people a code. They released all five dogs. The dogs immediately darted into the forest. About the 15th count heard howls mixed with barking.

Gerard and his ten men ran after him. Each carried a machete on his waist. The mayor and the people stared at each other. Someone dared to step up. He looked and asked the others.

" Come.for the sake of our children" he said encouragingly.

" Yes... ! for our son... ! the other sahut.

The sounds of barking and shouting were earthy in the forest. It might be 500 steps. They flocked after Gerard and his men.

The closer the clearer the screams and movements of the Gerard people. Also the sound of barking and growling. When the distance stayed another 100 steps, Carlos' father stretched out his hands.

" Hold... ! "

They stopped bumping into each other.

" Maybe he meant: ask the Girl of Destiny for help" said Xena's father.

" But where is He... ? We don't even know where he lives "

" Don't the Knights of Asgar know him ? " ask Carlos' father.

" Yes, ask for help in finding our children" said one.

The others immediately looked at him sharply.

" You dare to ask the Girl of Destiny to look for our children ?! "

" I will kneel down to worship him for the sake of the children "he replied surely.

Everyone looked at each other. They're nodding.

" Yes.... I'll also kneel for the children "

" O Fate Girl, may she help us "Father Xena subconsciously cupped her hands while closing her eyes.

Rey who was in the bakery heard the call. He sighs. The bread was not eaten. He took out some silver coins and put them on the table. His hand held the arm of Asgar who was holding a large bread. " What's his name ? " ask Rey cupping her right hand over Gerard's chest.

" Gerard, Miss "the mayor replied.

" He was exposed to demonic poison" Rey said.

The mayor and some who heard him were stunned. The Gerard people who had fought looked at each other. Then immediately throw each other's machetes. The bolt was used to read out the body of a demon bear. So it must be contaminated with poison. They examined each other's hands to check if there were any splashes of demonic bear blood.
