Ilham, Odang and several other villagers are still in the TKP. The body of the poor man who had been taken down from the tree was left lying on a banana leaf and covered with tarp. The hearse is still on its way and has not yet appeared. After poring over the information here and there, Ilham only found out that the victim was a poacher from a neighboring village. The middle-aged man regretted his decision to leave the Sirnasurya Forest overnight, should he have known anyone else was in the forest. It is very strong the possibility that the black creature found new prey after escaping from him and Ardana. Then the victim who panicked and feared could not fight until finally killed horribly.
Moments later Ardana appeared with a slight gasp. He then approached Ilham while looking towards the stiffened corpse.
“Pak, I saw Paramitha suddenly grim once I got here. I mean, when I saw the body,” he said.
“I know it will happen,” says Ilham, “means my guess about his trauma about this forest is true, Dan.”
Ardana turned her gaze towards the Sirnasurya Forest which remained a sinister look with a gloomy feel. Like Ilham, he began to believe there was something terrible in there. The black creature they were dealing with last night was just one of several other bad things they had yet to encounter.
From a distance there was the sound of a hearse siren. The white-colored vehicle drove at low speed towards the crowd of citizens who slowly dispersed to give way. After stopping, two officers in Indonesian Red Cross vests got off with stretchers. Four people who saw it immediately moved the body of the victim who was almost crushed. His blood was still dripping when the body was lifted into the car.
Among the crowd of people who began to whisper and gossip, Ardana and Ilham just stood looking at the process of removing the body. A few moments later the hearse turned back and returned to the direction he came, still by turning on the siren which was quite hard.
With the help of six policemen on guard, Odang and other village devices drove residents away from the CTKP. Forensic officers are still working to piece together the puzzle of the victim's death through the findings of evidence that can be analyzed.
“I'll bet the forensic officer will only stagnate until the proof of how the victim can be killed and hung on a tree branch,” guess Ilham. He carefully separated himself from the crowd.
Ardana tailed behind. The longer, the population that arrived also increased in number. Although the bodies have been taken to the Ciamis City hospital, they still flock just to see the scene and forensic officers who still continue to collect evidence.
“Means later tonight we return to Sirnasurya, Sir?” ardana asked after they got away from the crowd.
“Iya,” Ilham replied, “we'll be back there later tonight. Hope you don't meet any strange creatures again.”
Ardana turned his head for a moment towards the Sirnasurya Forest which was already far from the reach of the eye. Seeing Paramitha's reaction made her curious. This young man already has the klu obtained from the story of Ilham, but still he could not find an answer. To be able to solve the puzzle that is now faced, inevitably must be more dangerous to yourself. Although there is still a maximum of two weeks ahead, Ardana does not want to linger handling it or there will be more victims affected.
“We go to the house where Paramitha hitchhiked, come on!” take Inspiration suddenly.
“Eh? I—iya, Sir,” sahut Ardana.
“You know the place, right? Show me.”
Ardana sighed softly so as not to be heard by Ilham. He had just arrived from there, and now had to return to the same place. However, as usual he showed no objection. Guided by him, they kept walking towards the central residential part of the village. After taking nearly thirty minutes, the two had already arrived near the grounds of Nina's house. From outside the house it looks lonely. Ardana almost thought that the owner of the house was leaving if his eyes were not observant to see Nina who was sitting while cutting vegetables on the porch.
“We have arrived, Sir,” said Ardana. He went ahead and stared straight at the porch.
The arrival of Ardana and Ilham was apparently realized by Nina as well as Paramitha. If Nina stopped her activities temporarily and stood up to greet the guest, the girl instead backed down a little to peek at and listen to what the three people were talking about.
“Euleuh, the A’a who drove Mitha earlier, huh? Sok, sit down in the living room. Paramitha was in her room,” greeted Nina while tidying up her equipment.
“Thank you Mom. My name is Ardana. And... This is Mr. Ilham, his adoptive father Paramitha from Bandung,” reply Ardana while a little down and friendly.
Surprisingly, Nina showed a more friendly attitude to Ilham. This middle-aged woman extended her hand while chuckling.
“Duh, Inspiration. Why didn't you say you came here too? If my husband also knows, he must be very happy.” Nina and Ilham shook hands without being awkward. It turns out they already know each other.
“Yah. While in Bandung there is no business yes I follow this young man only.” Inspiration turned to Ardana who was standing near the porch barrier.
Nina chuckled again. “What ornamental plants do you care for, live all or die again?” ask her with a soft tone.
Ilham smiled wryly while shaking his head. “Ya.. live, live. Only three failed. Ask yourself to Ardana, she has seen firsthand,” she replied happily.
“Good if there is such progress. If there are still many who fail it is too much. Ah, I made a coffee spice first for the two of you as well as calling Paramitha, huh?”
Ardana who had been shrinking in astonishment witnessed the familiarity of Ilham and Nina remained silent. When his gaze was shifted to the left, precisely Paramitha's room, something caught his attention. Oang dodging's ability was caught on the right end of his eyes. Make himself know the Catranata girl is in there.
Two minutes later Nina came to bring a tray with two cups of black coffee and flavored milk spices on it. Not to miss Ilham's favorite traditional light snacks, boiled bananas and homemade ring cakes. Paramitha came out of the room just four seconds later. Without saying anything, he broke away and sat down before Ardana and Ilham.
“Mr,” says Paramitha.
Inspiration does not reply. This middle-aged man closed his eyes for a moment while taking a breath.
“So... You chose to stay back here, Mitha?” ask without talking.
Paramitha looked at Ilham and nodded. Ardana did not speak. His eyes took turns glancing at Ilham and Paramitha.
“Mitha does want to go home for a while, sir. You don't have to worry, there is Miss Nina,” Paramitha said.
“Go home without telling it equals violation. And it matters because of your security.” Inspiration does not blink. His gaze was confirmed to give a sign that he was anxious.
“All these villagers will be scared to know you're back here. You don't remember what you were like, son? As for where you stay, it doesn't matter. The problem is that you do not know what exactly you are going to do here,”.
While Paramitha was silent and did not reply, Ardana watched the girl's face closely. There was no vexation or dislike implied from his calm expression. The words of Inspiration are not at all refuted let alone ignored. The girl is different from before who can be confused when feeling disturbed. His attitude was graceful and made Ardana interested.
“Pak, Paramitha instead of ber—.“ Ardana tried to interrupt but was cut off by the movement of Ilham who raised his hand.
“Silence, Ardana! You do not need to interfere, after all you do not know much.” Ilham glanced at him with a sharp look.
Ardana nodded slowly. His gaze returned to Paramitha who at the same time also stared at him. This girl knew Ardana was trying to defend, or at least being able to mediate. Because the expression of Inspiration this time began to change with the face of people who do not like the violation.
Ilham resumed his talk. “Father is responsible as a substitute for your parents, as well as the Sumita family. Understand, something is wrong and it has to do with you. Frankly, you don't know how you could have those blackish-red eyes. You can tell me at the right time. Ardana was actually given the task but you came to supervise.
Because it has already been, you should be clever to keep your true identity secret. You can leave the house as long as there is important business. Take good care of your eyes so that they are not known by the villagers. Don't make Mother Nina hassles with your tough attitude.”
Paramitha remained silent and did not reply. This straight-haired girl really looks like a pingitan bride in the past. Just looking at it made Ardana want to laugh amusedly. Luckily he could stand it by clenching his mouth tightly.
“Euh, don't be too hard on him, Ham,” said Nina mediated.
“Nin, you know he's the only Catranata family member who still dares to come back here?” Inspiration seemed to be less accepting of Nina's words and kept up with her own words.
“I know, very know. But I took care of him before you moved him to Bandung. As a fellow woman, I can understand her desire to go home. Unlike you who have been forged as a soldier,” replied Nina calmly.
“In addition if Lingga and Erni are in our midst, they certainly do not like us to fuss about how we can keep Paramitha,” he continued.
Suddenly Ardana stood up yet was so calm. Ilham and Nina were surprised to see the young man's reflexive attitude. Amidst the confusion, they only looked at each other. Ardana alternately looked at Ilham then at Nina. Lastly, he turned to Paramitha who was now looking at him.
“Pak Ilham, Ms. Nina. I do not know much about what has happened. But, allow me to apply for additional duties from Mr. Ilham,” he stressed while alternately staring at the three of them.
“Wait, wait. What do you mean, Dan?” ask Ilham.
Ardana took a deep breath.
“I will keep Paramitha as long as she is still in this village.”
