The Train to The Dungeon

The Train to The Dungeon
Chapter 4: Revive

Darkened. Where I really am at this moment.

The tring!

What is that sound?

Why are there so many half-transparent blue boxes in front of me. Did everyone who died inside the dungeon get a notification message like this?

[Alerts! You will be revived immediately]

...***...

Both of my heavy eyelids opened slowly. My nose faintly caught the scent of sea salt. Still half conscious, I tried to move my limbs. Something warm and soft felt within the grasp.

Wait for. Didn't my hand break?

My eyes were round for a moment. The consciousness that had been floating around like being sucked into a body, so surprised, I jumped when I saw my hands were intact again, including wounds all over the body had disappeared.

“Book?” I fumbled white skin without a thread. All my things are gone, including my clothes. I'm naked on an uninhabited beach.

Both of my hands hurriedly covered the mini carrots hanging between my thighs. Panicking, I tried to look around, maybe there was something that could be used as a cover. On the left there are only white sand beaches and endless blue seas. While in the opposite direction there is a beach forest with coconut trees that grow rarely.

When I was still confused, again I heard the sound of “tring” in my head. Then a half-transparent blue box appeared in front of me.

[Notifications! You must pay the price of the blessing “Revive”]

[Alerts! You get the Quest: Killing the Seaweed Worm (0/5)

Reward: Exit Station, Beginner Kit Chest

Pinalty: Dead of Hunger - Dead of Dehydration ]

“Killing monsters? Just be right!” I flick to the right-left. My clothes are not there, my shield and sword are gone. Carrying a weapon alone I could barely kill a single monster, let alone without wearing anything!

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Grumbling will not solve the problem. My brain tried to straighten out what had happened.

I die. Somehow I was revived. Then came the notice boards like in the games and comics that I had read. If my guess is correct, maybe this is some kind of system in the Dungeon.

If this is a Dungeon system, it means that the mission I have received is real and I have to do it. After all, on the panel it says there is “pinalty”. If I do not complete this Quest, it is likely that “pinalty” will occur, which is thirst or hunger that will eventually kill me in this place.

My eyes looked around, the coconut trees were not fruitful at all and the sea water was salty, undrinkable. So inevitably, I do have to do this mission.

With a sense of force, I got up from the white sand and walked towards the beach forest. I tried to forget my long-standing discomfort and focus on the task I had to complete. Even without any weapons or equipment, I felt more and more curious about what was behind this mission and how I got here.

As I entered the beach forest, the moist air and fragrant fresh leaves came towards me. I walked carefully, avoiding sharp branches, and occasionally stopping my steps to listen to any sounds that could be a clue or a threat.

It didn't take long for me to find traces of the monster's existence. Along the way, there were traces of movement like traces of animals floating on the ground I realized that this mission might not be as easy as I imagined.

After a while of walking, I finally saw a strange figure among the trees. A giant, green worm was writhing on the ground, with a size that matched the human body. The slippery and sticky body looks disgusting. On top of his head I can see the white writing [Seaweed Worm]. That means right, this is the monster I'm looking for.

With a thumping heart, I contemplated the best way to defeat this monster without a weapon. I remember some survival techniques that the Hunter Association had taught me, one of them was how to fight without a weapon. I did not master the matrial arts, but maybe the monster could still be faced by exerting all my strength.

Without a doubt, I took a few steps forward. The giant worm raised its head and looked at me with a pair of fiery red eyes. Without waiting any longer, I jumped into the air and tried to land a kick directly on his body.

My kick hit the target strongly, but it only made the giant worm angry. In an instant, he wriggled his body and tried to wrap around me with a quick movement. I tried to dodge, jump and roll around the ground, trying to keep my distance from him.

Fighting without weapons makes me even more desperate. My body began to feel tired, and my energy began to thin. I knew that I had to find a more effective way to defeat this monster if I wanted to survive.

Looking around quickly, I saw a piece of liana hanging from one of the coconut trees. I immediately got the idea to use it. With a quick movement, I grabbed the liana and swung it towards the monster, hoping to wrap it up.

The liana tightly surrounded the body of the giant worm, stopping its movement. I didn't waste that chance. In a hurry, I dashed up to the twisted monster and jumped into the air, landing a punch straight at its head.

It seems that the attack was quite powerful. The giant worm weakened and eventually died. I stood on top of his already weakly drooping body, breathing heavily, but also feeling relieved. I defeated my first monster.

While I was trying to recover and calm down, a transparent blue box reappeared in front of me.

In the search, I found two other Seaweed Worms hiding behind the bushes. This time, I used the wood that I managed to find around to immobilize them.

“Hyaa!” I exclaimed as I smashed the large wood on the head of the seaweed-shaped worm. The other worm moved towards me and crept at the foot, I hurriedly struck the end of the wood to smash its head.

My breath was wheezing, but my heart was satisfied. It was a strange sensation, but I enjoyed hitting the worms on the head with all my energy. I looked at the half-transparent blue box that appeared.

[You have leveled up!]

Pinalty: Dead of Hunger - Dead of Dehydration ]

“Aik level, it looks like it's good.” I smiled reading that. If in the game, it should level up also means increasing strength.

The sun began to fall into the dispute. The remaining two Seaweed Worms had to be killed. I began to feel thirsty and hungry, but my focus should not be disturbed. I have to finish this mission.

I went around carefully, checking every corner of the forest. Finally, I found the fourth and fifth Seaweed Worm hiding behind a huge rock. Seeing my presence, the two worms wriggled trying to get into the stone crevice.

“No I'll let you escape!”

I lifted the big rock with all my energy. My face turned red, but I was able to do it.

“What is this thanks to leveling up so I get stronger?”

I don't want to mess it up now. These two slimy green worms in front of me must be killed before escaping into the ground. I picked up the rock fragments around and smashed into the heads of the worms until they were destroyed.

Green mucus came out of the soft body, splashed into a part of my body and spread an unpleasant aroma.

I grimaced while wiping both my hands onto the leaves and suddenly heard the sound of notification messages from the system.

[You have leveled up!]

[You completed the Quest: Killing the Seaweed Worm (5/5)]

[Reward: Exit Station, Beginner Kit Chest

Pinalty: Dead of Hunger - Dead of Dehydration ]

My body collapsed instantly into the sandy soil. While looking up at the darkening sky, I still did not expect to successfully complete the Quest.

“Five monsters,” I smile. “I killed five monsters!”

My heart was so happy and light, it was never imagined in my life that it had finally managed to kill some monsters, even the weakest ones.

“Oh right, I need to get out of here immediately.”

I walked out of the forest and arrived by the beach. There appeared a rectangular door featuring a blue light with a sprinkling of stars.

“What is this exit?”

I looked at the door, doubtful. But after thinking back, maybe that was the way out. Emboldened myself, I stepped through the door. My body disappeared behind the blue light and when it opened its eyes, I was in the dark stairway.

My feet kept stepping up until my stomach hit the wall. I don't know if it's a dead end or not, but when I push, a crack opens. It turns out to be a door.

I pushed it even stronger and one of the door leaves just slipped away. A loud groan echoed throughout the space, I came out of the darkness and appeared on the platform of a station.

“Eh?” I blinked in disbelief. The platform was crowded by Hunters who seemed to be waiting for the arrival of the train to the dungeon.

“The person emerged from the emergency stairs.”

“Why is she naked?”

“Hahaha! Is he crazy?”

I heard the voices of those people whispering. Someone immediately laughed and pulled out his phone to record, someone closed his eyes to see me naked, someone shouted out of fear.

My face was red with shame. They saw me naked and I could only stare in shock. I just moved from there after two station attendants came and covered my body with cloth. They drove me to the police station, treating me as a vagrant.
