The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 52: The Award to be Wanted

Day after day passed, Rose continued to try to continue his life, busying himself with knitting and embroidery every day.

Despite having to live in circumstances that are very inversely proportional to his previous life, he, Roses remain grateful because they are still met by God with good people like Saritem and other villagers who always treat Roses so well even though now the status is no longer the Madam.

"Why is Madam still embroidery? It is already evening, you must immediately rest," Saritem said when he learned that Rose's fingers were still busy embroidering, about to make a rose motif on a beautiful blue baby blanket knitted.

Rose sighed disappointed. "a little more will be finished, Mother. it feels a responsibility if I do not finish it right now."

Saritem sighed, yes, the young lady is indeed a bit difficult to be forbidden to knit and embroider lately.

It is good for Roses but on the other hand Saritem still worried that the Roses will be tired because they often force themselves.

"Alright, then Madam just finish the blanket I'll cook for dinner" Saritem said as he sauntered away towards the kitchen.

The rose only responds with a nod, re-centering its attention on the result of its embroidery which is a little more to be completed.

"Patience, Son. Mama will soon finish this beautiful blanket for you," Rose muttered as she rubbed her already very distended stomach, a sign that she seemed to be able to give birth at any time.

Villagers have even called a Swiss doctor who happens to live not far from their village to do regular health checks for Roses.

Luckily, all the results of the Rose examination so far always get good results - both are in good health.

Right after Rose tidied her embroidery equipment, suddenly came a tremendous pain that she had never felt in her entire life to reach her abdomen and feminine area. The rose grimaced, holding onto her distended stomach which already felt so hard. It hurt so much that the rose could not endure the pain until her tears melted.

"Mother Saritem... Saritem's mother!" shouted the rose that had no power to endure the pain.

Hearing the Rose call out in an unusual voice, Saritem hurriedly turned off the fire from his clay stove and was flocked to the Rose in his room.

"Oh, jeez!" saritem cried when he saw the amniotic waters had soaked the two feet of the crying Rose withstanding the excruciating pain that plagued him.

"You're about to give birth, madam! Come on, let's get to doctor Nathan's!" Saritem cried out in panic, carrying the body of the Rose to walk outside the house.

With a teetering step, Roses is assisted by Saritem to find anyone who can help deliver the Roses to Nathan's doctor's place.

"Please! Help me!" saritem chuckled after he and Roses made it out of the house.

"What's up, Auntie?" asked a young man who happened to pass in front of Saritem's house.

"Please get help, Jaka! Mrs Van der Linen is about to give birth!" saritem cried out in panic that finally made the young man run fast, asking for help to other residents.

The distance between one house with another house is indeed a bit far away, so it is quite time consuming if it must be reached by walking especially by the Rose.

Jaka ran as he continued to shout that Mrs Van der Linen would give birth soon, making the villagers who heard him flock to the house of Saritem.

Two village youths even took the initiative to bring a cart, while the mothers who were the closest to the house were busy helping Saritem prepare various needs for labor.

"Come, quickly help Madam get on the wagon!" the order of Mr. Midun, the village chief after seeing two young men who were pushing a cart.

Aided by some residents, Roses finally managed to sit on a cart that was immediately pushed without wasting much time by the young men towards the residence of the doctor Nathan.

"Hurry, guys! If we're late it could be dangerous for the Madam and her child!" yelling Jaka while pushing the cart while running, trying to equalize the speed with two friends.

Their feelings were all mixed between worry and happiness, waiting for the birth of Van der Linen's son who had been waiting for.

"Doctor Nathan! Doctor Nathan!" call Jaka in a loud voice when the cart he pushed with the other young man had entered the yard of the doctor's house.

Hearing his name being called so loudly, Doctor Nathan who was reading the newspaper then shuffled out of the house with a step frenzied.

The young doctor opened the door to his house, and it was a shock to find that almost half of the villagers had come to fill his yard with an elderly pregnant woman sitting on a cart.

"Doctor Nathan, please help Mrs Van der Linen! I think she will give birth soon" said Mr. Midun quickly while helping Jaka take down the Rose from the cart.

"Let me help you, Doctor Nathan," said Saritem quickly, then entered with all the items he had prepared with the other mothers.

The body of the rose is then laid on the ward in a position ready to give birth.

His heart was beating violently, tense as well as afraid even though today was actually a day that he and Cecilion had been waiting for for a long time.

"My husband... I will give birth to our child, please pray for me so that everything can run smoothly," said the Rose with her eyes closed while tightly grasping her husband's wedding ring.

The wedding ring was the only one Cecilion could hold right now, trying to gather all his strength in order to give birth to the fruit of their love safely.

"Mrs Van der Linen, listen to me" said Doctor Nathan asking for the Rose's attention.

Rose nodded, willing to listen to Doctor Nathan's instructions even with her face wet with tears.

"Just close your eyes if you find it difficult. Now, take a deep breath Madam, "Doctor Nathan is ready with his equipment, standing in his position giving a cue to the Rose.

"Are you ready, Mrs Van der Linen?"

"Yes, Doctor."

"On the count of three, let's push, ma'am!"

"One!"

"Two!"

"Three!"

Roses try to push their strength so that the baby can be born soon, but the power is still not enough.

"One more time, Mrs Van der Linen. Follow my cue," repeated Doctor Nathan after seeing there was already movement there.

"One!"

"Two!"

"Three!"

The rose closed her eyes, again releasing the remaining energy that she had hoped once again God would help her for this time only.

The sound of the baby's shrill cry then broke the silence of Doctor Nathan's maternity room, making everyone who heard it exhale their relief and gratitude.

Doctor Nathan took the blood-soaked baby with a warm smile, grateful that this time it could save two lives once again.

"Mrs Van der Linen, congratulations. You have given birth to a very handsome and healthy baby boy" said Dr. Nathan, who made the Rose feel so happy.

"Thank you, Lord." said Rose, kissing her husband's wedding ring thankfully.

Nathan's doctor then asks Saritem to clean the handsome baby, while he gives Mawar postpartum care.

"Are you okay, Madam? I've heard all the stories from Mr. Midun" asked Dr. Nathan.

Rose sighed. "I have no choice but to stay fine, Doctor. Now I can only hope to raise our baby well."

"I'm sure you can, Madam. I'll always be here if you need help" replied Dr. Nathan with a smile.

The rose returned a smile even though his face now looked very pale like an undead.

"Yes, Doctor Nathan, I will need your help of course."
