With a flat face like lake water, Cecilion hung up on him, ending a conversation about the business he had just done with one of his business colleagues.
"Mr Sao, call here everyone in charge of delivering our commodities to our business partners now without exception," cecilion's words were unequivocal without taking his eyes off his notebook containing the names of people he had been investigating lately.
From the very beginning, Cecilion had already been able to sniff out something that was not true in this plantation environment.
Therefore, he decided not to trust anyone in his work environment completely including Sao Qian his own assistant.
Despite the slight hesitation, Sao Qian hurriedly got up from his seat and nodded obediently.
"Of course, Sir. I'll be right back to bring them all in front of Master."
Cecilion raised his head, glancing at Sao Qian.
"Of course, please take them all without exception."
Sao Qian was constantly goosebumps hearing the cold-pitched command, the voice of the Master was very heavy sending a firmness and aura of intimidation that was so strong.
At that very instant, Sao Qian was sure that his new boss was not an ordinary handsome young man who could be tricked easily.
With a hasty move, Sao Qian left the study to call all the employees in charge of delivering the produce of plantation commodities to all their business colleagues.
The man did not expect, in just three days Cecilion van der Linen was already able to realize something unnatural in his business.
"Why did Master Sao step in such a hurry?" tanya Jamal, one of the indigenous employees who was on the first floor of their office.
"Are all the delivery people here?" Sao Qian asked back, slightly making Jamal confused because of the tense expression of the superior.
"They're all busy putting together stuff in the locomotive, sir."
"Please get them all here, just tell me there's an emergency reason" Sao Qian said with a hunting breath.
Although astonished after hearing Sao Qian's words, Jamal still complied.
He got out of the office, rushed to call all the delivery employees.
"What's up, Mr Sao?" asked one of the delivery employees who had just arrived in front of Sao Qian.
"Mr Van Der Linen called all of you.
Let's hurry, we can't let him wait too long!" Sao Qian said quickly, walking at a rapid pace towards the stairs that connect the downstairs office with the Cecilion van der Linen workspace.
All the delivery employees looked at each other confused, not knowing if they had ever made a mistake or how so that the highest superior immediately looked for them all without exception.
Having no other choice, the seven men then walked following the steps of Sao Qian who was already a few meters away in front of them.
They were all amazed, only this time they could see the beauty of the office that had only been entered by administrative employees and accountants.
The plantation office is indeed two floors, the first floor is usually used by foremen and field employees while the second floor is used by administrative employees and accountants, and company officials.
After arriving at the Cecilion van der Linen workroom whose door was closed, Sao Qian knocked slowly on the large door leaf made of the best quality wood.
"Excuse me, Mr. Van Der Linen. I've brought all the delivery employees," said Sao Qian a bit shouting at the doorway.
The usually haughty Sao Qian could only swallow his regret in silence, having no other choice but to go back down and follow the Master's orders.
"Okay sir, I'm stepping down."
Moments after Sao Qian moved away, the delivery employees then entered into the Cecilion workspace carefully.
They did not want to let out the slightest sound, afraid that the Master would feel disturbed.
"Sit down all of you. I have to finish this bit of file first," Cecilion's command was still in a cold tone.
"Okay, sir," the seven men replied almost simultaneously later.
After flagging some suspicious documents and signing important documents to buy and sell, Cecilion rose from his seat and inched closer to the waiting shipping officers with a pounding heart.
"I can double your pay starting this month if you're all willing to be honest with me" Cecilion said firmly with an aura of intimidation, make the delivery employees compact swallow.
...****************...
"Why is your face so gloomy?" Roses asked while massaging her husband's two firm shoulders that felt tense.
The two were relaxing in the porch that night, accompanied by a plate of sweet snacks and coffee given by Grandma who had stopped by their house a few hours ago.
Just Grandma herself, while Grandpa was busy working on the oil palm plantation.
Cecilion let out a long sigh, turning to look at the pair of blue neutrals as beautiful as diamonds belonging to the wife.
"Honey, there are many plantation officials who commit corruption," said Cecilion lethargic to make the roses ready to fall in disbelief.
"Whatdidyou say? The corruption? How did you realize that so soon?" ask the Rose who immediately took a position sitting next to her husband.
"Yes. I've found some evidence and testimony from other employees, but I think it's still not strong enough for me to get rid of those employees let alone they've worked for many years" replied Cecilion fretfully.
Roses harrumphed, how can the employees commit corruption even though they have been given a job with a decent salary?
What a shameless thing, the Roses wanted to punish them with their own hands.
"I haven't talked about this with Grandpa yet, but I think Grandpa already knows and wants me to solve everything in my own way" Cecilion added, slowly sipping his black coffee.
"How can you know that in less than a week?" Rose was curious about her husband's extraordinary business abilities.
Like a reliable metal detector, he can immediately realize the acts of corruption in his work environment makes Roses amazed.
"The money received by the financial office data is not the same as that in the bookkeeping. Surely I immediately suspected and investigated everything secretly to find more and more irregularities," said Cecilion while giving his financial journal book to Rose.
Rose read carefully, understanding every number and sentence written by Cecilion in Dutch.
"All this data does not make sense, it's appropriate that Grandpa gave this plantation to you," said Mawar furious, considering the corruption figures he found did amount to a lot.
Cecilion smiled softly, trying to neutralize the wife's emotions. "you don't have to worry, I'll finish it soon so that our plantation business will progress and develop."
