The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 41: Blue Sky in Sumatra

The subtle clinking of the small impact between the spoon and the surface of the porcelain glass in Rose's hand broke the silence, making Cecilion the husband who was busy reading the newspaper turn to look at him.

"What are you doing?" the adam asked curiously as he folded the newspaper in his grasp, placed it on a glass table before him.

"Making jasmine tea. Yesterday Grandfather had a short stop here, gave me some tea bags and then I added a little dried jasmine to make it feel more delicious," explained Rose while thrusting a glass in her hand to Cecilion.

"Slip it first, I'm sure it tastes better than regular tea," said Roses and then concoct one more glass of tea for himself.

Cecilion only smiled faintly, blowing slowly on the surface of the glass his wife had given him.

The unique aroma of the blend of tea and jasmine greeted Cecilion's sense of smell made the young man smile even more.

After feeling that the tea was cold enough to drink, Cecilion began to sip the warm drink until his mouth and throat felt an unusual sensation that he had never felt from any drink.

Oh, it turns out his wife's taste is great!

"It's really more than a pleasure, baby! You are indeed good at making delicious drinks," praised Cecilion right after he drank a glass of tea to the toilet.

"really?" ask Roses in disbelief, and then rush to taste his homemade tea.

What my husband said was true.

The tea feels amazing, the aroma is appetizing also gives a relaxing effect on the body to make the Rose smile satisfied.

"I didn't expect it to feel this wise!" The rose exclaimed in excitement, pecking out the amused laughter of Cecilion.

"Yes yes, your tea is amazing. Then let's eat breakfast directly, shouldn't we go to the market today? Uncle Muhsin must also be on his way from Grandpa's house," Cecilion said at length.

The rose obeyed.

The young woman then led her husband to the dinner table where he had prepared breakfast for them both.

There are four pieces of bread that have been baked perfectly by the Rose on the table, presented deliciously complete with a mouth-watering aroma.

"How can you bake bread with perfect maturity using firewood?" Cecilion was amazed, seeing the results of the wife's extraordinary cooking.

"I only estimate the degree of maturity, thank God if you like," replied the Rose as she began cutting her bread with a dinner knife.

The delicious aroma of toast makes the young couple eat more delicious while talking lightly.

They really do seem like a blessed couple from heaven, completely harmonious and pleasant to look at.

"Are you thinking about having a child soon?" Cecilion asked as he put away his cutlery because his toast had run out.

"I cannot refuse if God has given us such a wonderful gift" replied the Rose with a smile.

"Do you want the presence of a child?" The rose asked her husband.

Cecilion shook his head slowly. "for now not yet. I want to improve our economic life first, but if God has the will to give one of course I will gladly accept."

The rose agreed with her husband.

Their economic life has not been too stable to have a child.

"I think you're right, my husband."

"Hows it? What's the atmosphere like?" Cecilion asked as he raised the results of their hunt in the market, aka groceries today with both hands.

The smile of the Rose brimmed with beauty, signifying the young lady was feeling pleased.

"of course! I'm happy to be able to shop a lot of things and meet all our needs that have been lacking" replied Rose cheerfully.

Unlike the husband who was in trouble with all their shopping goods, Roses was busy walking while enjoying the market snacks in both hands.

"During our stay in Batavia we have never been to a market like this," added Mawar while feeding her husband a market hawker she has enjoyed since.

Cecilion nodded with a full mouth, also feeling happy to see the smile of the Rose that was getting more beautiful because of the happiness.

The Sixteen Ilir Market located in the center of Palembang does have a unique panorama that stretches on the banks of the Musi River where they can shop while looking at ships of various sizes and loads passing by closely, a unique sight never seen by the Rose and Cecilion before.

"How much does the fish cost, Auntie?" ask Roses to one of the river-fish-selling aunts.

"The price is three guilders, ma'am," the merchant replied.

Rose took the money out of her bag, gave the money to the seller's Aunt with a smile.

"Here's the money, Auntie, please pack it up" said the polite Rose.

The river fish seller's aunt was of course glued because of the beauty and beauty of manners that Roses have.

However, the middle-aged woman hurriedly wrapped the Rose-ordered fish.

"This is the fish, ma'am. Wait a minute I'll get you the change" said the seller's aunt, looking for a change for Roses.

The rose shook with a smile.

"No need, Auntie. just take the change."

"Thank you very much, Madam. May God always bless you and your family" the Aunt said in a statement.

"I think Papa and Mama-in-law did educate you very well" Cecilion said.

"Papa educated me hard and firmly, while Mama educated me gently and lovingly, this is what makes me feel like I have two sides in me," the Light of the Roses led Cecilion to sit by the river with him.

For a moment, Rose wanted to enjoy leisure time outside the house with her husband considering that Cecilion was only busy working while she spent her time alone at home.

"You're lucky to have such loving parents," Cecilion muttered, making the Rose focus attention entirely on the husband.

"You don't need to bring up old wounds, my husband. Make everything you have experienced in the past as a lesson so that later we can educate our children well and live life better as well" said Rose sage, gently rubbing the exquisite jaw fracture of Cecilion's carving tub.

"The sky of Sumatra is too beautiful for us to fill with sadness, my love. Remember our struggle to get here, Cecilion van der Linen."

Cecilion leaned his head on the low shoulder of the Rose. "i know, but sometimes I also miss Mama while constantly thinking about how her fate would be after Papa had hurt her like that."

Roses gently rubbed her husband's mane, trying to give strength even though she felt shaky would miss Mama and her Papa who are now far away on the opposite island.

But now there is no other choice for the Rose and Cecilion than to survive the course of life they choose together whatever the consequences.
