The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 27: Pure Love en Cecilion

"If until our relationship is known to my Papa and we are forced to separate, can I take you on the run?" cecilion asked suddenly after imagining the worst possible thing that would happen to their relationship.

The rose smiled, even though he knew Cecilion could not see it.

"I knew sooner or later it would happen, so I had enough savings to run away at any time," The rose calmly replied as if without any burden made Cecilion quite shocked.

Presumably he did not expect that the Rose liked him to such a deep extent that he even answered without hesitation to run away together.

Cecilion did not expect that there was someone who would love him to this extent.

"You sure? Didn't you know that going through a long journey is not as pleasant as when we were on an excursion?" asked Cecilion again trying to convince himself.

"Cecilion van der Linen, I've never played around with what I said you should know that. I'm not going to change my mind just because you said such a stupid thing," said Rose, making Cecilion laugh.

This is the other side of the De Haas Rose that is not widely known by others, the girl who is so adorable and funny behind all the silent and graceful attitude that she always shows.

This unexpected attitude is what makes Cecilion increasingly fall in love with Roses.

Roses gulped ice cendolnya up to the toilet, trying to dispel the thirst as well as his regret to Cecilion while the adam can only smile wrong behavior while busy tying the hair of the Rose. Oh, Cecilion finally managed to braid the Rose hair so beautifully!

"I'm sorry for my unromantic attitude, Rose. Sometimes I'm also confused what to say while being with you like this," Cecilion admitted with a satisfied smile, proud of his work that is so charming with the hair of the Rose.

"But by the way what are you doing with my hair?" asked the curious Rose, stirring the contents of her bag looking for a mirror.

He was very curious whether Cecilion could really tie his hair or not.

After successfully finding the mirror he was looking for, Rose immediately noticed his reflection from the mirror but how surprised he was when he knew the results of Cecilion's work was even better than when he tied his own hair.

"Is this really me? Hey, why are you tying my hair so pretty?" Rose wondered how Cecilion could do so well despite first tying a woman's hair.

"That's not a difficult thing, your hair is already beautiful from there," replied Cecilion casually, then sipped his ice cendol until it ran out.

Nusantara's original drinks and food turned out to have a unique taste that was very good, Cecilion only found out everything after he and Rose often spent time together.

"You are so beautiful without any help, Rose. Keep it that way without caring about hurtful words from others."

...****************...

That morning Mr. De Haas was standing in front of the closet, looking confused to make Mrs De Haas wonder what her husband was doing.

"What are you doing?" mrs De Haas asked as she gently touched her husband's firm shoulder.

"Ah, I am confused about what clothes to wear to attend Greg's wedding ceremony this time," replied Mr. De Haas with a clumsy smile.

Mr. Van Marwijk did invite the De Haas family to attend the wedding of Greg, his son and friend Rose since childhood since far away. The middle-aged man came over with great joy to pass on the news, leaving all the members of the De Haas family who did not know of course shocked.

Yes, no matter how high the social status of an indigenous wife of a Dutch man they are still not allowed to dress up like Europeans.

It is an absolute unwritten rule.

"You'll have many suits, my husband. Let me help you choose" replied Mrs De Haas kalem, starting to open her husband's wardrobe to choose the best clothes for her husband.

"Well, why are Mom and Dad so romantic? I'll be envious," the Rose-witch who watched the interaction between Mama and her Papa from the front door of the room.

The rose already looks very beautiful with a red dress, in line with the kebaya owned by the mother. The beautiful blonde rose she curled up elegantly, like a Dutch woman who would attend events in general.

Mr and Mrs De Haas chuckled in response to the words of their only child who without feeling is now growing up.

In the near future, Roses will graduate school and be old enough to get married.

"I can't wait to get married too" Rose said spontaneously as she passed into the living room making Mama and Papa now exchange views.

"Do you have the right candidate for our son, my husband?" mrs De Haas asked while putting a bow tie around her husband's neck.

"What about the second son of the Van Dijk family? he is a very handsome young man with high manners" said Mr. De Haas, recalling his business colleagues who have a son.

"I'm not sure he'll match the Rose, my husband. The young man was handsome but very stiff, what about William van de Beek? She is young but already has a successful business of her own," Mrs De Haas chimed in.

William van de Beek was one of the most successful young entrepreneurs in the Dutch East Indies. The business he had was not even playful, a giant business processing precious stones that could not be carelessly managed.

"Before that I guess we should let the Roses choose themselves first. I want our son's marriage to be a successful one" said Mr. De Haas, slipping his wife's hair-child off the hook.

Madam De Haas nodded in agreement.

"That's right. let the Rose decide happiness for herself."

The couple then approached the Rose who had been waiting for them in the living room with a smile on their faces.

"Let's go, Rose. Greg must be very happy today that we have to give congratulations as well as gifts" said Mr. De Haas, embracing the Rose's shoulder, taking the girl to the front yard.

Uncle Darijo who had finished starting the car engine then walked in a hurry, like he was about to take something following the direction of Mrs De Haas.

"Are Papa and Mama really going to give you a present this big?" ask the surprised Rose at once not in thought.

"Yes, because Greg and his family are our best friends. Who knows, they will also give you a gift of this magnitude on your wedding day," Mr. De Haas replied, making the Roses can only smile wryly.

Roses were not even sure if he could marry peacefully and festively as Greg would later.
