The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 36: Family Discussie

"Actually, what brings you here to willingly come all the way from the opposite island, my grandson's rose?" asked Mr. Goenawan with a serious face, demanding an answer from the Rose.

Roses and Cecilion then exchanged views, confused to explain where they were from here.

"Grandpa, Grandma, I'm honestly confused where to explain it from but this is the only place we can go" said Rose with a soft face.

"What happened, my dear?" asked the Grandma while gently rubbing the Rose's back.

"Mama and Papa meant to match me up with one of their business colleagues without asking for my approval first, Grandma. I was very surprised when they suddenly had a discussion about the good date of the wedding when I still did not know anything" explained Rose who got full attention from the twilight couple.

"As long as we are in a relationship, Rose and I have not been very fond of our relationship because of some considerations. However, I wouldn't be willing if Roses got married to that drunken man" Cecilion's chimpanzee with her pair of eyes gleaming with emotion.

"So we had no choice but to run away together and get married here, Grandma, Grandpa. Papa and Papa Cecilion may agree to our marriage if they know this, but you two should know how much we love each other" added Rose with both corners of her lips curled downwards, indicates sadness.

"Cecilion van der Linen, are you really the son of the governor of Batavia who still serves today?" ask Grandpa in full search.

Cecilion nodded. "right, Grandpa. Christopher van der Linen is indeed my birth papa."

"just fine. My son-in-law and Mr. Van Der Linen did not get along since they were young even before they each got married for some reason" said the Grandfather as he lit his cigar, trying to warm yourself up in the heavy rain that fluttered that night.

"We don't even know what makes them so hostile" Cecilion said, sighing, resigned and upset with the attitude of the Papa who seemed reluctant to reconcile with Mr. De Haas.

"Every time I want to open a conversation about Mr. Van Der Linen, Papa always switches the conversation," Rose also implied disappointment on her pretty face.

"Grandfather understood the situation. In that case, please discuss to strengthen each other's hearts because marriage is not a trivial thing. Understood?"

The rose looked straight at Grandfather.

"Of course, Grandpa. Cecilion and I will discuss together after dinner. But before that did Grandma and Grandpa approve if we were steady to get married?"

The old married couple nodded compactly, giving a signal that they did indeed approve of their grandchild's relationship with the handsome young man.

However, for Mr and Mrs Goenawan the happiness of their grandchildren is the most important thing.

...****************...

The rumbling sound of rain had still not subsided, but it still did not dampen the intention of Cecilion and Rose to discuss the two regarding their wedding plans.

Befriend two porcelain glasses containing warm sweet tea presented with snacks made by the Grandma on the table porch of the house, the two lovebirds sat facing each other looking straight at each other.

A thin transparent puff of smoke appears to emanate from the porcelain glass that is in the hands of the Rose. Slowly, the Rose blew on the glass surface to sip the sweet tea again warm it.

"So, are you really sure you want to marry me in this kind of predicament?" asked Cecilion that night amid the torrent of rain that soaked the earth of Srivijaya.

Roses no longer care about the dignity of the family or property, he just wants to attach happiness to himself whatever risks he will bear in the future even the girl is not willing to take a headache.

At a very young age, Rose and Cecilion already had to face an uneasy situation like this.

But both Cecilion and Roses decided to strengthen their hearts to live the great choice they had chosen themselves, namely getting married young here.

"I have established my heart, although in the future I will not be easy to believe we can pass everything well together," replied Rose confidently, looking fixed on the face of the beloved.

Cecilion smiled gently. "alright then we should start preparing all the necessary documents, did you bring them?"

The rose nodded. "of course, I've prepared everything long before we take this step."

"Good then. With all the files we need, we can immediately register the marriage to the nearest church," Cecilion said still with a smile that has not faded.

After a long journey and exhausting inner struggle, the couple decided to get married in the near future.

Although life after marriage is not an easy thing, but Cecilion remains confident he is able to keep the Rose of the future wife until the rest of his last breath.

"I hope our life after this can get better, Cecilion."

"I hope so, too, Rose. After we get married I will work hard to give you a sufficient living," Cecilion said determinedly making Rose smile even though his heart felt pity.

Cecilion van der Linen, a young man who used to live comfortably with the treasure, is now determined to work hard even though he has never lived in distress throughout his life to make the Rose feel touched.

How not, Cecilion was even willing to leave his comfortable life in the city of Batavia in order to marry the Rose he loved.

"Yes, Cecilion.thank you for loving me with a whole heart like this," replied the eve while wiping away her tears.

Cecilion stretched out both hands, clutching the body of the Rose lovingly trying to give a backrest to her lover.

"I didn't do anything difficult, you don't have to thank me. It is precisely I who should thank you for being willing to take a step so far," Cecilion whispered softly, rubbing the top of the Rose's head lovingly.

The tears of the rose that pooled in both her eyes were unstoppable.

The girl was crying in a happy feeling at once haru, a confused mixed feeling that so messed up the Rose's heart. On the other hand he felt happy, but on the other hand he felt guilty for leaving both parents without having time to sit down and talk together calmly.

"Come back, Lio. I've decided to accept you as my life partner for now, later, and forever."

"I will not disappoint you, Rose De Haas who will soon become Rose van der Linen."

Cecilion then landed a sweet yet warm kiss laden with love on the top of the Rose's head, a sign of a faithful promise he did not verbalize.
