The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 31: The Crossroads

The rose leaped her feet in a hurry to her room, not caring what her father was thinking about her.

The Rose was very disappointed when she heard what her father had just said.

"Why is Papa so selfish?" lirih Roses while sitting in the corner of his bed.

It is one of his favorite places when he is feeling sad or stressed.

It was only in this room that the Rose could fully become herself without the need to bother to endure all the emotional turmoil in her heart.

There was not much that the Rose could express in words, she just sat down with her head bowed in tears even as her narrow shoulders trembled faintly, clarifying how deeply disappointed she now felt.

Rose only loves a Cecilion, why should she marry a foreign man she does not even know?

Was there no other choice that the Rose could make as if this was the last choice she had to make for her Papa?

The deep disappointment prompted Rose to remain silent, enjoying her cries and ignoring calls from people at her door including her.

The supposed pleasant Sunday became a very grey day for the Rose, making the girl reluctant to do anything but lament her fate of always being in that disadvantageous position.

Since childhood Rose often became the victim of discriminatory actions from his friends at school which certainly hurt the poor girl but not much Rose can do.

The beautiful but unfortunate rose can only be silent, not reciprocating the actions of her peers who are sometimes very painful.

Some make fun of the Rose with hurtful words just because her Mama is a native, she said, there are also those who act horribly to dare to attack the physical Rose directly because of their envy of the Rose who always managed to steal the attention of the adam because of her beauty.

Poor roses have to grow up with such an unhealthy school environment that the girl does not display much of her emotions because she is used to holding back every emotion she feels even though it is very painful again exhausting. Behind her complete beauty, the Rose must face everything alone.

"What should I do, Cecilion?" moaning Roses amidst his heartbreaking cries, the cries he had been holding quietly.

"Roses, let's eat first... Don't be so later you will get sick, son," persuaded Madame De Haas while sticking her forehead on the door leaf of the Rose room.

But it still does not change the stance of the Rose, he still did not budge to enjoy his cry no matter how many sentences of persuasion that has been thrown by the Mama.

The disappointed rose then rose from her seat, wiping away her tear marks violently using the backs of her hands.

The girl then ducked down, taking out a large bag that she had been keeping neatly under her bed.

"Do I have to do it any time soon?"

...****************...

"Basic son of a bitch!"

Another loud shout greeted Cecilion's sense of hearing, along with a loud slap that was thrown by the Papa.

Cecilion stayed in place, looking up at the man she had always respected, letting the pain mix with the heat run down her smooth right cheek to cause a very noticeable trace of redness.

"If I'm an unlucky kid then what are you, Papa? How dare Papa bring that despicable woman into our home!" shouted Cecilion who was already unable to hold back his emotions.

That's enough. This is all too much!

Behind Cecilion's body was the mother who was crying sobbing, unable to accept the fact that her husband had become so outrageous that she dared to bring her mistress into their family home.

Which woman's heart would not be torn to shreds to see her husband making out with another woman in front of his own eyes, let alone inside his own house? Suzanne van der Linen is no longer able, she is no longer strong enough to withstand the wounds that have been incised by her husband.

"Oh, now you've dared to fight your own father? a good! it must have been the upbringing of this selfless woman!" shrieked Mr. Van Der Linen angrily, pointing towards his own wife.

Cecilion pulls Papa's collar.

"Why Papa always blames Mama for everything that happened, huh?! Why has Papa never glazed over and fixed every problem that Papa caused himself?!"

"Alright, Lio. We better just go from this cursed house," said the Mama softly with her breath that even now sting, trying to calm the emotions of Cecilion who had reached the crown.

"But I have to make Papa aware, Ma! What's he doing that's wrong where might I stay silent?" reply Cecilion not received.

"Just be free, my son. Want as hard as we try if the intention to change does not come from his own heart then everything will remain in vain," added Mrs Van Der Linen while pulling the wrist of the son just wayangnya to release his grip from the collar of his own Papa shirt.

Hearing the mother's words that sounded so begging, Cecilion decided to relinquish and remove the collar of his Papa shirt that he held tightly until it almost torn.

"Alright, enjoy the treasures of corruption from my Papa, the Mistress who does not know herself," pressed Cecilion with a dismissive smile to the Papa's mistress who strangely even joined in crying dramatically.

Cecilion had no choice but to leave the house with her.

He certainly did not want to continue living like that, depressed because his parents had a very messy household.

"I will take care of our divorce soon, goodbye," said Mrs Van Der Linen firmly, determined to escape forever from the husband who had never even given him a single drop of happiness.

"You think I'm just gonna let you go?" challenge Mr. Van Der Linen.

"Why not? I can easily sue you in the Netherland for everything you've done to me in the past" replied Mrs Van Der.

"Come, Cecilion. We have to leave before we get hit with shit like him" concluded Mrs Van Der Linen as she gently pulled Cecilion's sturdy hand out of the house.

With a heavy heart Cecilion stepped out of the house, following in the footsteps of the Mother for the common good.

As a man, Cecilion felt that what his father did was heinous and unworthy of forgiveness.

She was so inexhaustible how could her mother survive in such a chaotic household.

"Lio, forgive Mama because you have to be born into this very chaotic family," said the Mama with a sorry look made Cecilion's heart feel even more sick.

Cecilion shook his head. "it's not Mama's fault, nor can I choose which family I was born in."

The middle-aged woman then hugged her only son tightly, feeling so sorry for having missed too many precious moments that she should have spent with this handsome child.

"Please promise Mama that you will treat your wife well, Cecilion van der Linen, one day" the mother asked as she looked at the handsome face of her son.

"I promise in the name of God, Mama. I wouldn't hurt my wife and son if I got it."

Despite saying it with great solemnity, Cecilion still felt that something was stirring in the depths of his heart.
