The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 39: Cecilion, the Beetle on the Plantation

The serene atmosphere still surrounded the neighborhood where Cecilion and Rose lived that morning, but it did not dampen Cecilion's spirit to begin today.

The young man seemed to enjoy his wife's breakfast, although the taste of the wife's cooking was not as delicious as the food he used to eat at his home.

However, even so Cecilion remains grateful and appreciative of the efforts of Roses who strive to serve the best food for him.

"Is the breakfast delicious?" tanya Roses hesitated, feeling not confident in her cooking ability which is still not so good.

"Of course it's delicious, because my wife made it with great difficulty" Cecilion replied gently, taking a look at the wife's right hand and landing a sweet kiss on the back of the Rose's hand.

"Thank you for serving this delicious breakfast, my wife. The next time you find it difficult not to force yourself like before let me cook," said Cecilion still just as gently, looking at the Rose attentively.

Cecilion and Rose had not had time to buy a stove in the market, making the newlyweds forced to cook using firewood in the fireplace of their living room.

It was fortunate that the house given by Grandpa and Grandma had a fireplace, otherwise they would be confused about where to cook.

Cecilion is worried, considering cooking using firewood in the fireplace is quite risky. Any time a rose can be hurt if it is like that continuously.

Since their house is located on the edge of the city, access to the market located in the city center is rather difficult to reach.

There are only a few horse-drawn carriages that sometimes take the people who live here to go to the city center, the horse-drawn carriage is only available on weekends.

"I'm okay, baby. You don't have to worry too much" Rose replied with a smile they were beautiful, so beautiful that Cecilion was so heavy-hearted that he left his wife to work.

"I just don't feel calm. All right, Sunday we'll go to the market and buy the stove, "the final Cecilion, replied with a obedient nod by the Rose.

The couple then moved to tidy up the kitchen again after finishing their breakfast.

Interspersed with laughter, Roses and Cecilion then headed to the living room remembering soon the invitation of Cecilion who will bring the head of the family to the plantation will arrive.

The location of Cecilion's estate and residence was indeed a bit far away so Grandfather decided to give one horse carriage complete with coachmen for the mobility of Cecilion and Roses every day.

"Excuse me, Mr and Mrs. I am Muhsin who was sent by Mr. Goen to deliver Mr. Van Der Linen to the plantation," said a native man with curls on the doorstep of the house.

Cecilion and Rose then stood up, welcoming the Uncle with a gentle smile.

"Are we in a hurry, Uncle Muhsin?" ask Cecilion later.

Uncle Muhsin nodded. "yes, sir, our trip to the plantation takes almost an hour so I think we should leave immediately."

"Alright then, let's go," concluded Cecilion.

The smiling rose gently looked at the beloved. "be careful on the road, my husband."

Cecilion then gave a warm kiss on the top of the head of the Rose.

"Of course, my dear, I must return because my beautiful wife must always be waiting for me."

"So this is your workspace, Mr. Van Der Linen. If you have any questions or difficulties you can directly contact me," said Sao Qian, a Chinese man of about forty years of age, assistant Cecilion who has been working on the plantation for the past ten years.

"All right, thank you, Mr. Sao. I'll go straight to work right now" Cecilion said politely, starting to draft the documents he had to deal with.

Sao Qian could not hide his amazed gaze, he was surprised Cecilion instantly grabbed the document without hesitation and read it carefully describing how intelligent the Dutch man before him was.

"That's all the buying and selling documents and lease agreements you have to consider, Mr Van Der Linen."

Cecilion's words did sound calm, but it looked like a stern rebuke to Sao Qian made the man flinch a little, his face even looking tense.

Cecilion then sat himself on the chair of his desk, increasingly focusing his attention on the pile of documents in front of him.

"How could this sale and purchase agreement harm my side as a producer?" Cecilion muttered, reading through to the end of the purchase agreement document.

The door of the Cecilion workspace that was left open made some plantation administrative employees who happened to pass by busy stealing a glance, admiring the good looks of their new superiors.

Although they all knew that Cecilion van der Linen was the husband of the granddaughter of the first owner of this estate, they still openly dared to look at the handsome face of Cecilion.

They were all thinking, how could they possibly want to miss the opportunity to meet a man as handsome as Cecilion.

The administrative officer in this office does have quite a lot of female employees ranging from those who are native European, Indo-European mixed to Chinese and indigenous descendants also work here.

"Can I get the phone numbers of these companies?" cecilion asked firmly while separating some buying and selling documents that he felt were detrimental to his plantation.

"Of course, Sir. Wait a minute I will be back soon," Sao Qian replied as he walked hurriedly out of the Cecilion study hall.

"If not immediately I do not continue, this plantation will definitely go bankrupt soon," Cecilion muttered again marking the documents that need to be given an additional touch.

Cecilion became increasingly convinced that Grandfather gave this plantation as well for one other reason.

...****************...

"Good day, Mr. Van Der Linen," said one of the plantation accounting officers in a coquettish tone as he passed Cecilion in front of the office stairs to the Cecilion workspace.

"Yes. What's the matter until you stand in my way like this?" Cecilion coldly replied, feeling his way blocked.

"I just want to greet Master so that we can be more familiar," the girl still replied in the same tone making Cecilion snort lazily.

"Does everyone who works on this farm know that I'm married?"

"I think everyone knows, sir."

"Then step aside and stop being so sweet-ass with me like that" said Cecilion as he passed by nonchalantly, making the Indo-European mixed-descendant girl annoyed.

His whole life only this time he was treated so coldly by a man.

"Why is he so cold to this beautiful girl?" the girl muttered in annoyance, making a co-worker who had been watching in silence giggle.

"You feel beautiful in front of her? That means you've never seen how beautiful Mrs Van Der Linen is" the young man half-mockingly sneered.

Yes, at least the young man had met directly with the Rose, the Mistress Van Der Linen and admitted that the beauty of the wife of his superior was indeed very inhumane.

The girl pouted. "is she really prettier than me?"

"Your question is stupid. Mrs Van Der Linen is more than just beautiful, you will feel very ugly if you meet her in person."

"really? Oh, but I was wondering if I could be Mr.'s mistress."

"Stop thinking about such a futile thing and take care of your work before Mr Van Der Linen fires you!" replied the man sniffling as he turned towards his office.

The girl gave a sly smile later, starting to devise a scenario she should not have done in her brain.
