The Rose of De Haas

The Rose of De Haas
Chapter 22: The Van Der Linen Family

"Yes, okay, I'm done. Thank you Papa and Mama for the delicious dinner," concluded Cecilion suddenly after feeling his appetite disappeared somewhere.

He became increasingly dizzy after realizing that the relationship between Mr. De Haas and his Papa was more complicated than he thought.

Both sides are equally reluctant to contact each other first to make Cecilion increasingly think about what really happened between the two heads of the family.

Cecilion got up from his seat with a chaotic thought, ignored the call of the Mama and chose to go straight into his room.

The condition of his family did not show that there is a possibility of happiness that will come to make Cecilion worse.

"seen? All your actions have made me go further and further with my son!" Mrs Van Der Linen exclaimed angrily, pointing a sharp finger at her husband who continued to eat despite his grim facial water.

"You should also realize why we have to have this unpleasant marriage" whispered Mr. Van Der Linen, sipping his drink later.

"You're still selfish no matter how old you are, Christopher!"

"But from the beginning I said I didn't want to get married, but why do your parents keep forcing this marriage? They are indeed very selfish," Mr. Van Der Linen said with a condescending smile as he left his wife.

"The men are irresponsible!"

"Whatever you say now, I really won't care, Suzanne."

Tears inundated the two eyes belonging to Suzanne, the Mistress Van Der Linen.

Regret clearly reflected by the pair of beautiful hazel shades, he felt so sorry for having taken the rash decision to marry Christopher van der Linen at the time - or rather, to be sure, regretting her own stupidity for giving up her chastity before they officially got married.

Due to his own stupidity that he became a two-bodied out of wedlock, making his parents inevitably have to force Christopher's parents to marry Suzanne who was already pregnant. It was unexpected by Suzanne that her marriage would go on so painfully like this even though their family had abundant treasures and an extraordinarily handsome son.

It is broken in the heart of the Lady.

He has done various ways to still be able to maintain his marriage but still there is no significant change that occurs in their household heresy.

"The lady's okay?" ask Aunt Odah, the chief of Babu in the Van Der Linen family residence.

Mrs Van Der Linen hastily wiped the tears that soaked her cheeks with the back of her hand, trying to keep looking as fresh as the rock facing the reality of her increasingly heartbreaking life.

"I'm fine. Please clear everything I will immediately rest," said Mrs Van Der Linen firmly although her voice still sends vibrations of sadness.

"Good, Mistress. Have a good rest, if you need anything, Madam can call me," Aunt Odah replied as well as usual.

Mrs Van Der Linen then passed by, too many things had disturbed the poor woman's mind so much that she often lost focus. All the Babu and Jongos in the house knew that the household of their Master and Madam was on the edge, but they chose not to interfere considering the attitude of the couple who was just as cold.

"Why else, Bi?" asked a young Babu while piling dirty dishes on the tray he was carrying.

"I am honestly sorry to see the Madam who has always been treated harshly and coldly" said one of the Jongos who had just arrived, intending to take drinking water with a canned cup in his hand.

"Their marriage was also from the beginning not a love based thing, as far as I know, they used to meet accidentally and do love one night but because they were both careless at last Madam got pregnant," said the young Babu.

"Huh! How do you know something like that?" aunt Odah asked in a whispering voice.

"I know from Babu Van Doornik's family, Van Doornik's family will first be neighbors with Madam's parents," reply The young Babu was without a doubt despite his hands busy picking up dirty dishes and glasses from the dining table.

"Then, they got married because Madam was already pregnant?" ask the Jongos.

"Yes. So it is not surprising to see their households that are very far from this harmonious word. Sad, it turns out I was just a child of one night's love," Cecilion suddenly interrupted, leaving everyone there shocked and frozen in their own place.

The faces of the three lackeys looked deathly pale like corpses, making Cecilion only able to smile faintly.

"Why are you quiet? Come on, tell me more about my parents so that I can know everything from different sources," challenged Cecilion with his trademark calm face.

All the stories he knew about his parents during this time were very inversely proportional to the stories of the servants, making Cecilion so curious as to which one was right between the two.

All he knew was that Papa and Mama were married just because they loved each other.

"Oh, young master... Forgive the three of us..." Aunt Odah, bowed deeply before Cecilion followed by her two subordinates.

"Relax, I won't do anything to the three of you I'm actually very curious about the story you discussed just now" Cecilion said calmly, his hands crossed in front of the chest of his field.

"You're serious, young master?" ask Aunt Odah to make sure once again.

"I won't punish you if you can prove the truth of what you said just now" Cecilion replied casually.

The Van Doornik family who lived not far from their home was indeed an old neighbor of Mrs Van Der Linen so most likely what the servants said was true.

After all, getting pregnant out of wedlock is indeed a great disgrace that must be covered with a tight at that time.

"The mother of the Van Doornik family said all that, Sir. I heard first-hand that Mrs Van Doornik was telling that to some Babu who worked in their home" the young Babu said carefully.

"Then tell Mrs Van Doornik that I want to meet her in person tomorrow afternoon after school to confirm the truth of the words she's saying so carelessly," retorted Cecilion was full of interest, making the three maids only be able to gulp in tension and be too scared.

"The offer only happens once, if the three of you are not willing I will gladly determine the punishment for you," Cecilion threatened with a cold smile.

The three maids gulped, but were eventually forced to nod in fear of being finished off by the Young Master.

"Alright then, Young Master."
