THE DRAGON CHAIN EMPEROR

THE DRAGON CHAIN EMPEROR
Chp 3: Sword Techique, Martial Art, and Magic

"What are you two doing there!? River, Asher is sitting where you are!"

The screams of a teacher awakened me from the daydreams of the past, I guess I was too drowned to realize that the next hour of study had begun.

"Tch! next time I won't let you go." Asher threatened and returned to his seat.

I also got up with great difficulty and sat down on my seat to take the next lesson.

Now is not the time to think about the past, I have to be serious in learning so that my grades do not decline.

Although I was weak in magic and swordsmanship, I was arguably a genius in oral learning such as history, language, politics and so on.

It's just that combat power is preferred in the Nethilor academy which makes me a target for bully people.

"Well now open your book page 172 CHAPTER 3, the basic strength and application."

Now is the learning to know the power system in this world, not practice but only material.

The teacher who taught us in this lesson was professor Watson Vinler, an old man who had a madness in science and technology, on the contrary he was not very fond of magic and swords.

So you could say me and prof Watson are quite familiar because we have a lot in common.

"So who can explain what is the difference between magic power, sword techniques, and martial arts?" ask professor Watson.

But no one spoke up to make him frown.

"No one can?"

There was no reply from the other students.

I know the way of mind of those noble children, they assume that studying the matter of strength is completely useless to them.

They are more concerned with practice than material that they consider useless, so they are not at all serious about this learning.

"Disappointing .. You've been in this academy for years but still don't know this basic thing...."

Professor Watson shook his head in disappointment.

He then turned his eyes to me and said, "River, I'm sure you can give me a satisfactory answer..."

"Good professor Watson.."

I've learned this many times, so it's easy for me. I closed my material book and stood up from my seat.

"Basic power exists in this world divided into 3 namely Magic, Sword Technique and Martial Art. Magic or Magic is a supernatural force of intangible elements and requires mana to use them. Sword Technique is a pure sword skill without the use of mana. Martial Art is a natural human ability and can usually be used by anyone without the need for mana. You could say only Magic power is mandatory to use mana, but that doesn't mean other powers can't use mana."

I explained all of that smoothly and could see Professor Watson's proud expression while the other students looked annoyed.

"Tch! just like that I can too...."

"I bet I could explain all that better..."

"What's so great about all that?"

Such was the whisper that sounded while Professor Watson smiled proudly at me.

"Good River, as expected of a genius student."

Professor Watson's words must have given the other students some annoyance and envy, but I think that's the goal.

They were all people who had high self-esteem and could not accept if I was said to be much more genius than them, so with this perhaps they would study hard again to be able to defeat me.

"Can you explain about the application of mana in sword techniques and martial arts as well?" professor Watson asked with a smile.

"Of course I can." I smiled back.

"Sword Technique which uses mana is usually referred to as Sword Magic while Martial Art which uses mana is usually called Martial Magic. In fact, using magic in sword techniques or martial arts is much more difficult and high risk, if the magic applied is not controlled then the user will experience severe injury."

Once again the other students felt very upset because of me who was far superior to them.

While Asher just clicked his tongue irritated.

"Based on fools." he murmured.

I don't think Asher was so stupid that he got into the trap of studying professor Watson.

"Alright, let's get into our main discussion today" professor Watson said.

The previous one was just a warm-up to make the spoiled noble child want to open their book and focus on learning.

After that professor Watson began to explain his learning even though I had actually studied all the material.

At least I should get a good attendance score.

"Humans can use the 7 basic elements without any restrictions at all, namely fire, water, earth, wind, lightning, light, and darkness. It was very different from the Devil race that could not use the light element, or the Anggel race that could not use the darkness element, so it was arguably the most unique race."

It is true that humans can master all kinds of elements, but they also have their own limitations in mastering that element.

Each element has its own opponents, and that's what makes it difficult for people to master all elements well.

For example a person who is great in the light element will have difficulty learning the dark element, a person who is great in the fire element will have difficulty learning the water element and vice versa.

The magic power itself is divided into 7 levels, the higher the level, the stronger the magic power of the person.

Currently only one magician is known to have reached level 7, namely Nethilor academy head Aria Scarlet, besides that the average level of magicians in the entire Lhigor continent is 5 and below.

Just like magic levels, sword technique levels and martial arts were also divided into 7 levels. Sword techniques and martial arts have many types depending on their use.

Currently the strongest sword technique user is King Laurence Victoria VII, which is at level 7 with a sword technique called Divine Light Sword Technique.

While the strongest martial arts users are people who come from the neighboring kingdom, namely the kingdom of Mazzarri.

Regarding the magic element element described by professor Watson earlier, it was all just basic elements that could be used by everyone.

In addition to the basic elements, there are also Special Elements that have a level of difficulty far above the basic elements and cannot be used by everyone.

Special elements themselves include the elements of Ice, Poison, Gravity, Time, Blood, and many more. Special Element Users numbered very few and were only mastered by geniuses alone....

..

..

..

Time passed quickly and professor Watson's lesson was finally well-finished.

"River, can you help me get this book into my room?"

Professor Watson asked for my help, and of course I accepted it.

With a stack of textbooks in my hand, I walked next to Professor Watson.

"That was very nice of River, I almost laughed at the expression of the spoiled child" said professor Watson.

"That's no big deal professor." I shook my head.

"You're too low on River, just so you know you're my proud student at this academy, you're so much better and smarter than that spoiled noble kid" Professor Watson patted me on the shoulder.

Actually I'm also very happy with Professor Watson, he's the kindest and friendliest person I've ever met.
