The day was getting dusk, with Andre nervous to meet Grace's grandmother who was sitting relaxing in her rocking chair while watching television. While Lucy was in the room arranging her clothes that she had brought from the city.
"Is there anything you want to say?" grace's grandmother asked as if she understood Andre's vision.
"Ah, yes. It seems like the day is getting dusk, I will say goodbye to return to the city of Nek." said Andre.
"Aren't you going to stay here? How can you prove your seriousness to my grandchildren if I don't see firsthand your true behavior" Grace said.
"I mean grandma?" ask Andre wonder.
"I mean stay a few days and prove all your words that say if not all upper-class men can only use a girl" Grace explained.
Andre paused for a moment, believing Grace's grandmother had a special trick to test her in the next few days. But not Andre if you give up before trying it directly.
"Well Grandma, I'll show you who I really am" Andre said.
Grandma Grace nodded as she looked at Andre who was filled with looks of seriousness.
"Okay, your room's over there. Don't expect you to be in a room with my granddaughter, clean yourself up and remember I don't like messy rooms" Grace said.
"Alright grandma, thank you for giving me permission to stay" said Andre.
Lucy comes out of her room, she sees Grandma and Andre talking together. Lucy walked up to Grandma and Andre with curiosity.
"What are you guys talking about? Why not bring me? Like yes you prefer to talk alone without me." asked Lucy repeatedly.
"Grandmother, if you'll excuse me to go to the room first" said Andre.
Grace's grandmother just shook her hand telling Andre to leave. Lucy who saw that grew curious about what they had just discussed.
"Grandmother, tell me what are you guys talking about when I'm not around?" ask Lucy.
"Me and him didn't discuss anything, I just told him to stay for a few days. At least someone will help me in the garden at harvest time like this" said Grace's grandmother.
"It's true that she won't be able to do all that work, grandma don't do that to her" Lucy said.
"What kind of man do you want to be your husband? Who can do nothing when life is hard? Would you be able to live if one day he would go bankrupt and you would be destitute?" ask Grace's grandmother.
"Why did my grandmother say that?" ask Lucy back.
Lucy muses to listen to Grandma Grace's words, what her grandmother said is the reality, and it is undeniable that human life is sometimes above and sometimes below.
"Alright grandma, I'll remember grandma's message. But I'm really not sure if Andre will be able to help grandma tomorrow in the garden. So, please don't be so hard on him." Lucy pleaded.
"You really like him to the point that he's afraid of hardship?" ask Grace's grandmother.
Lucy nodded strongly, while putting on a sad face.
"Alright, I won't be hard on him tomorrow. So now go get some rest, the day trip has made your body tired, hasn't it?" ask Grace's grandmother.
"No, I'll be here with grandma watching television. So, what did grandma watch?" ask Lucy.
Lucy looks at the television that opened her grandmother's favorite telenovela broadcast.
"Ah right, grandma is still watching this? This movie isn't over?" ask Lucy wonder.
"Shut up and sit down if you want to watch with me. What do you expect from an old woman like me, I love this movie even if it's not finished" said Grace.
"Grandma, was grandma lonely when I was living in town?" ask Lucy suddenly.
"What kind of question comes out of your mouth? Of course I was lonely, but I didn't feel it too much because I was busying myself. Almost every day I go out of the house to garden and come home in the afternoon." said Grace.
"I'm sorry grandma, so do you want to come with me when you get back to town?" ask Lucy.
"I'm not used to life in the city, especially later this house who will take care of it if I leave here" said Grace while watching the entire corner of her house.
"But the family that I have is just a grandmother, I want grandma to enjoy my grandmother's old age with me without having to bother taking care of plants" said Lucy.
Grandma Grace silently heard her grandson's words, since she had never left this area to see the magnificent city. Until the last time he was disappointed by his son who had been blinded by the luxury and glitter of the city. To the extent that he was willing to leave the child and his wife and not remember it until the wife died.
"Lucy, remember this one message. If you've been let down by the beauty of the city, you can go back to this house. So, let me take care of her until you get back" Grace said with teary eyes.
"Grandmother, don't say that. I don't like it." Lucy said angrily.
"You're an adult, and you also know that someone's death is bound to happen even if we don't know when it's going to happen. So let me here take care of everything we have, so you have a reason to go home if you're tired of the city noise" Grace said.
Lucy shed tears, she could not imagine if she lost the grandmother who had raised her all this time. Although death cannot be avoided, every human being must be prepared for it.
