Queen Without Crown
Chapter 40 Defending the Palace

Fajr dawns on the eastern horizon. Its golden light illuminated the entire territory of the Elfian Kingdom. But the fate of the country is unclear, because the enemy troops are already preparing in front of them.

The king of Satria went to meet the soldiers and checked their positions. He ordered the archers to stand guard around the palace walls. The soldiers carrying the sword were getting ready. King Satria will try his hardest to defend his kingdom.

King Satria did not sleep all night so his body was very tired. He was afraid that King Bharata's army might attack. Or it could be that their shaman will attack again in a supernatural way.

King Satria prayed that his entire kingdom be protected. And may his enemy soon lift foot from that place.

The sound of war trumpets made of sea conch shells was blown by King Bharata's side. They are ready to attack again. There was the sound of thousands of horses being driven. There was also the cry of the enemy soldiers who came to attack.

"Siiiing.. ssiiiing.. ssiiiiing...!"

"Jerb..Jamb..Jolie..!"

The Elfian Empire's archers began to hurl arrows at the enemy troops.

There were some who fell, but their numbers were still very large. Those fierce faces came at them with a burning spirit. The army had never lost before, so the confidence of the soldiers was extremely high.

"Swiiing..swiiing...twiying...!"

"Duarrr...Duarr... Duarrr...!"

King Bharata's army began to retaliate by firing three giant catapults. The giant bullets from the catapult shattered the walls of the Elfian Palace.

"Bruck...Bruukk...!"

Rocks were scattered from the ruins of the walls. Some Elfian soldiers were killed by the ruins and some were killed by falling from a height.

"Siiiing. ssiiiiing.. ssiiiiing..!"

The archers from the Elfian Kingdom returned in retaliation. But it seems their resistance has not had much effect.

The Royal House of Dewanata army again stormed the palace gates. They even shot him with a slingshot. The palace gate was back in midget. The Royal Dewanata Army immediately rushed in.

"Trubs..Trangs..Trang..!"

Fierce battles again broke out in the palace courtyard. The soldiers from both sides drew their swords. The corpses of the soldiers who were scattered were trampled by the foot of a horse.

King Bharata was handsome on his dark brown horse. The man was bare-chested. Thick feathers appear to grow on his chest that field. Both of his burly arms were wrapped around gold bracelets, as well as his two wrists. A golden crown with beautiful carvings was perched on his head.

The big tall man was very good at swinging his sword. He easily slaughtered an Elfian warrior like a wheat-cutting machine.

From the back of his horse he saw King Satria. The fierce man immediately jumped down from the horse. While mowing down Elfian warriors along the way, King Bharata approached King Satria.

"Finally we can face off, King Satria!" King Bharata grinned horribly.

"Welcome to Elfian!" The king of Satria answered while drawing his sword.

"Trubs..Trangs..Trang..!"

They duel. Poking each other, hitting each other. King Bharata, who at first underestimated the appearance of the beautiful-looking King Satria, finally had to admit in his heart that the man was very good at fighting.

"You're good too!" Praise King Bharata with a grin.

"Thank you." King Satria smiled sweetly making his good looks increased. It made King Bharata even more sick of seeing him.

"Trubs..Trangs..Trangs..! Sreet..!"

King Satria's sword managed to scratch the enemy's arm. King Satria smiled mockingly at King Bharata who looked shocked.

"Trubs..Trangs..Trangs..! Sreet..!

This time King Bharata retorted to scratch King Satria's waist. The Elfian leader grimaced with the pain, the wound on his waist deep enough. Blood was seeping down his clothes.

Seeing this made King Bharata even more excited. The man liked to enjoy the suffering of his enemy the most. He loved to destroy his enemies.

Despite the pain, King Satria did not give up. He bravely continued to fight his enemy.

"Trubs..Trangs..Trang..!"

Their swords kept on clashing. Slashing and scraping wounds on the opponent's body. Their bodies were covered in wounds and blood.

Until the time came for King Satria to make a quick and unexpected move. King Bharata was not even aware that King Satria had stabbed his heart into the back.

"Youngpam..!"

The dashing man was unsteady and his body was already soaked by the red liquid. He did not accept being defeated by the man who looked weak in his eyes. But he started to lose consciousness as a result of losing a lot of blood.

"Bruck!"

King Bharata's body collapsed to the ground. Blood pooled beneath him, flowing profusely and widening like a pool of red.

Seeing his King collapsing, the soldiers of the Kingdom of Dewanata became a mess. Some of his loyal followers raised the man's body and took him away on his horse.

"Hooooong...!"

The trumpet from the shell of the sea conch is blown. The entire Royal House of Dewanata army immediately withdrew. They went to the camp and packed up.

Meanwhile the conditions in the palace were terrible. Bodies were scattered and blood filled the air. The walls and gates of the palace have been destroyed.

Although this victory is worthy of gratitude, it still leaves a lot of pain. The fall of friends and countrymen is heartbreaking.

The remaining soldiers teamed up to remove the bodies and tried to provide a proper burial. They were buried in the cemetery behind the palace walls.

*****.

Jadukari Daalal Nath looked up at King Bharata's body on a horse's back. The strange-looking man felt wrath. The king he had supported all this time, was killed at the hands of the Elfian King.

"Bring King Bharata's body into the tent!" His order.

The shaman then locked himself in a tent with the corpse of King Bharata who had turned blue. The corpse was planted with spices and marigolds that were dark yellow. A necklace of flowers was also wrapped around her neck.

The shaman carries a sword over the body of King Bharata. The dense incense smoke with a very piercing fragrance, now filled the tent.

Jadukari Daalal Nath then sat cross-legged in front of King Bharata's corpse. His eyes were closed and his mouth was muttering a magic spell.

The taamasha sab dekkenge

Mera dasa hua maange na paani

Kya hota hai ab dekkenge

Dekkenga tu na kal ka savera

The shaman continued to recite the incantation without pause. Until dusk changed night and night was back to morning.

Because the tent where King Bharata's body was not opened until the morning, most of the rest of his troops returned to their home country.

Only a few people who were still loyal to the late king were still standing in front of the tent. They wanted to bring the body back to Dewanata Kingdom for a royal funeral.

However, even when dusk came again, King Bharata's tent was still tightly closed.

In the middle of the night, the cold air was colder than usual. From a distance there was a howl of a dog rumbling to make the fur crouching.

"Hauuuu...hauuu....!"

The soldier who was still standing guard in front of the tent felt uneasy. Somehow they felt like there was a bad feeling that was about to happen.

The wind suddenly blew hard to make the dust around the tent fly. The tents that were still standing were shaken by the wind.

The soldiers gasped when they saw a reddish-yellow magical light like fire, flying through space. The magic light continued to shoot out at high speed and swooped sharply towards the tent.

Frightened soldiers ran for their lives, suspecting that the light was a falling meteor.

The light had finally completely crashed into the tent. But there was no sound, only silence.

The soldiers, who were now some distance away from the tent, saw the tent become brightly lit as if burning. But there was no smoke or fire.

They feel astonished. An event that reason could not digest, happened right in front of them. They just stood there and watched from a distance.

Meanwhile, the howling of the dog is getting boisterous and disdainful, as if knowing there is something strange and terrible that will soon happen.

Inside the tent, the shaman was still cross-legged in front of the already stiff corpse of King Bharata. The magical light that suddenly came through the tent, has now penetrated into the body of King Bharata. The frozen body now glowed yellowish like fire.

Jadukari Daalal Nath silently watched. The strange man waited expectantly. The mantra he had solemnly chanted had been heard by the gods.

Suddenly King Bharata's eyes opened. His eyes were empty without a soul. The body has risen from the dead!
